Yes do not let them lay on their back, keep them on their side. Then get gatorade and bread. If the person is passed out you'll have to force feed them. This helps clear up the alcohol in their system. Try and get them into a shower and turn the water on. This will clean them up and hopefully wake them up. If they stay passed out then just make sure they are on their side and check on them every once in a while. When they do wake up, give them some water and tylenol. They most likely will be wakign up with a killer hangover the next day! Be prepared for quite a clean up as well, the bathroom is gonna be a mess! If you think, for a moment, that a friend or total stranger has overdosed on alcohol, call 911 for help.
These are the symptoms of Alcohol Poisioing:
The 'sleeping' or unconcious person cannot be woken
Cold, clammy, pale or bluish skin
Slow breathing, less than 8 times per minute, or irregular breathing, with 10 seconds or more between breaths .
Vomiting while 'sleeping' or passed out, and not waking up after vomiting.
If even ONE of those symptoms is present, call 911!
Don't try to guess the level of drunkenness.
Don't sit around and wait for a passed out person to die.
It is true you should roll a passed out drunk on to their side. There is a special way to do this called the Bacchus Maneuver. You can read about it here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Don't leave a passed out person alone. Stay with them and monitor their breathing until help arrives.
Don't ever be afraid to call an ambulance for a friend who has had too much to drink, even if they are underaged. Don't worry that your friend may become angry or embarrassed, better that then dead. Hundreds of teens each year have to live with the knowledge that if they had only called for help a friend might still be alive. Don't be one of them. sizzlinmandolin answered Sunday September 2 2007, 3:08 pm: Yeah, lie them on their side, but the number one thing to do is get them to a hospital! If you've had alcohol too, call for an ambulance (911). Alcohol poisoning is exactly what it says. It means they've been poisoned. They could die from that! Even if you are underage it's better to get in trouble than be dead. Keep track of how much people are drinking and cut them off when they've had too much so stuff like this doesn't happen. If you prevent it in the first place you won't need to know what to do if it were to happen. [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
