Hi, you answered my question about the kind of music my boyfriend likes. Some of the stuff you were saying about subgenres of metal confuses me, but I will tell you all I know about what he listens to. He listens to bands like Disturbed, metallica, and skillet. I do admit I like a few songs, but you can't just listen to a few songs over and over till they bore you to death, haha. I like Comatose by skillet and Down With The Sickness isn't too bad. If you can help me find some more interesting music we can both agree on that would be awesome, thanks!
Your boyfriend listens to shitty metal :(. Disturbed is watered down garbage, Metallica hasn't been good since '88 (and I'm sure he just has the Black Album on loop), and Skillet is Christian hard rock: holy shit. I seriously do not blame you for not enjoying that stuff.

Well, there's really a lot of stuff out there. Metal is a genre of tolerance, so it depends musically and vocally on what you're able to tolerate. A good start for non-metal people would probably be in progressive sludge stuff like Baroness or maybe Mastodon's latest record... or you could go the thrashier route with early Metallica or Megadeth or Anthrax. You wouldn't be able to handle death metal or black metal right now, but maybe you could stomach the atmospheric expanses of post metal like Isis.
It's not that I am not socialable, it's just that I don't want to do things if I think that it is logically useless and that it is not even in my interest range.
I'm in my final year of high school this year, which means a lot of things going on. I don't even want ot go to prom, but my best friend is forcing me. And we have two overnight retreats that are $65 each to go on.
I'm not a big fan of sleeping over. And I don't know since I'm sleeping during that time, but what if I'm sleeping with other people and I fart in my sleep, say something stupid or something bad about someone in the room, drool, or hell, even wet my pants?

You should go on the retreats, but if you don't want to go to prom, fuck it. I didn't go to mine, and I have absolutely no regrets. I had better things to do, and that's what I did.
Hi, I am 18f and I have a boyfriend the same age. He has one type of music that is his favorite, which is metal... and so that is all he listens to. My dilemma is that I don't really like metal (I can listen to it, but I don't care for it) and the music I listen to (pop,rock,country,almost anything but metal ironically), he doesn't really like. How can we make it so that we both like eachothers kind of music so that we are both happy in a vehicle or at a party? I would really love for him to listen to some of my music that has good lyrics, soul, and a catchy beat rather than head banging stuff all the time, you know? Cuz I believe we could connect on another level if we have music that sets the mood for both of us (hard to have a romatic setting with metal music). I do know that if you play your music alot, the other person may eventually like it too... but any other ideas would be appreciated, thanks!
It depends on what subgenre of metal he's listening to, and how far he'd be willing to branch out. He will never enjoy pop, rock, or country, because it's simply not ingrained in him. Your own tastes are much more malleable than his.
So, you should find out what subgenre of metal he listens to and what his favorite bands are, and inbox them to me. From there, I can give you/him some bands that fall into those subs but draw influence from elsewhere and would thus be much more accommodating to your own tastes. It really depends on what he's listening to; is it kvlt and tr00 or is it commercial and impure? Is it sludge, death, black, post, thrash, prog, or is it shit glam and nu? Metal is such a broad genre that it's almost obsolete to leave it standing without a subgenre in front of it, and in this case that is going to make all the difference.
My best friend and I want my best guy friend to come over to my house and chill with us. play some tunes out in my yard, just chill, have a good time. But he bailed and I got really mad at him, but we got over it and now everything is okay. He had told me that he actually can make it to hang out. But now I kind of want to tell him that I can't and we have to reschedule so he wonders what I'm doing and maybe who I'm with. Maybe tell him that I'm at a party or something. But I would only do that with the sole intent of him wondering and thinking about me. Which I'm not sure will happen. He bails on alot of things. But he usually either unbails.. or reschedules.

I am really close to my mom, but she is really getting on my nerves. I will be out on a Friday night at like 10 pm, and she'll call me and say "where are you, when you getting home?"
