I'm 16/f catholic; and I masturbate. Is masturbating a form of lust, thereby making it unacceptable against the commandments? I was just wondering, as I found that I'm virtually addicted, and although it is healthy, I want to know whether it is morally wrong for me.
twistedteen25 answered Saturday December 24 2005, 9:52 pm: no its not wrong if God didn't want us to masturbate, watch porn or have sex then he wouldn't but dildos or whatever, people who like to be seen naked or people groping each other. its just human nature. Hebasquash answered Wednesday December 14 2005, 11:36 pm: Yes, it is a sin, but in god's eyes no sin is greater than another. I had this problem a while ago, it was hard for me to stop also. If you really want to live a life in the lord's footsteps then yes you need to stop. There are other things in this world that can bring you the same pleasure. Look deep and try to find the answer god is giving to you, he is the ultimate answer.

redninja answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 8:43 pm: it isnt wrong, religion is something you choose to follow, just because it says one thing doesnt mean that its right. follow your own personal beliefs and morals, there is nothing wrong with what your doin and you really shouldnt feel guilty [ redninja's advice column | Ask redninja A Question ]
just_ask_me answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 7:38 pm: I'm sorry, but what's WRONG with bringing pleasure to yourself? Being happy/pleasured is a SIN? I'm not religious at all, but come on! No one should tell you not to do it or even tell you it's wrong. You do what makes you happy, and even better if you think about someone you like while doing it. Alpha345 answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 4:24 pm: I am Christian and this verse (I don't remember where at, I am horrible with remembering bible verses) sums it up.
Jesus said. "If a man looks at a woman lustfully, he has already commited adultry in his heart"
Therefore, yes it is wrong because usually when you do masturbate, you are lusting after someone else, so you have already commited adultry in your heart.
sizzlinmandolin answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 2:49 pm: Yeah, it's a sin, but that doesn't mean you have to stop. Just ask for forgiveness. You're going to sin no matter how hard you try not to because you aren't perfect. Masturbation is better than murder. I think it's silly when Christians go masquerading around as if they'e better than other people, because they aren't. We're all just people with the same sinful desires. I'm Christian myself and it bothers me so much when Christians shove it in the faces of other people that they don't sin. We should be helping people find God, not scaring them away. Who would want to be a part of a religion where they think they have to pretend that they're perfect? Who would want to be a part of something where they felt like God didn't allow them to have the desires that He actually gave them? It's frightening. If I wasn't raised as a Christian, I would probably run away screaming too.
Lust is one of the seven deadly sins. I don't understand why people treat it as worse than the others. You don't see people react the same way to the word jealous on this site. "I'm so jealous of my sister" gets the reaction "It's okay to be jealous" while "I lust after my best friend" would get the reaction "lust is a sin, stop it now!"
God is about forgiveness and love, not punishment. People come to God so that their sins can be forgiven, not so that He can turn them into Jesus.
I hope I helped you and sorry if I got a little excited about this, but it seems that so many people, especially people on this site, are really confused about Christianity and many are against it for the very reasons I mentioned. [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
lucretia answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 2:49 pm: What you need to understand is the difference between what the church, Catholic or otherwise, considers wrong, and what actually is. Yes, masturbation is a form of lust, and as such is a Deadly Sin(NOT, however against any of the Ten Commandments-adultery is the only sexual crime detailed there). I'm not going to get into a long explanation of the reasoning behind religious customs, nor will I bash them(i leave that to st. gasoline). All I think is that you should quit worrying about masturbation and ponder instead on the true horrors of the world, such as hunger, war, xenophobia and Donald Trump's toupee.
Good luck! [ lucretia's advice column | Ask lucretia A Question ]
LiLReBeL6907 answered Tuesday December 13 2005, 12:15 pm: Well this is a very "iffy" subject... Many people that are highly religious find it a sin to masturbate despite the healthy aspects because when you masturbate generally you lust after someone or lust after the thought of being with someone. It all depends how you look at it. Honestly I don't find it a sin, but if you think it is and you are dead set on staying fullu holy to all aspects of your religion, then you will probably have to drop the addiction to this natural "animal instict". Hope I have given you some insight on this. Need any more advice note my inbox.
