What age for sex

Question Posted Tuesday November 8 2005, 4:15 pm

I'm 13/m in jr high and I was wondering, how old is an appropriate age for sex? I've heard of people my age that have had sex, but I don't think 13 is an appropriate age, so..... how old should you be to have sex?

Whenever you find the right guy. Some people say after marraige, after the age of 16, after 18, it's all up to the person doing it.

I think it depends on the person. I agree though that 13 is not a good age to start being sexually active. I think sex should wait until you're with the right person. A right person being one that does not pressure you into something you're not ready for and loves you unconditinally.
I'm 18 and I'm still a virgin. I haven't found anyone worth losing it to yet so I'm waiting.
Losing your virginity is a big step. I think it should be with the right person.
If your friends tease you about it, just hold your head up high and know that you won't have any kids as a teenager or any STDs.

It's legal to have sex when you're 16. But just because other people might have had sex, doesn't mean you SHOULD. You run your life and don't let anyone try to persuade you to go down a pathway which you really don't want to go down!

Hey,
Personally, i dont think there is an exact age that you should start having sex. Im 14 and im still a virgin..and boyyy i am not complaining..but..i think that people have sex when they feel like they are ready..this time is different for everyone..
i think 13 is way too young to be having sex though..only because people that age are very immature when it comes to relationships and responsibilities..

♥ I think maybe 14 or 15 is appropriate..but not the MOST but 13 is definitely inappropriate because you like are in the first year of being a teenager..I first had sex like early this past october..but i havent had sex since..im 14..but i turn 15 in january..but most people start having sex at a young age now..but most people start having sex at 16..but i think you should start younger..like im not saying do it now or turn into a slut..but i heard it hurts alot more when you wait..because the hymen (cherry) tightens up or sumthn..and yes it REALLY hurts REALLY bad..even if you decide to do it now..but imagine it hurting 50 times worse when you wait forever..sorry if i wasnt much help

you`ll know when your ready. but, if your still a full virgin is wait a little while more..even if your not completly pure..but some religions "forbid" it until your married .. so if your in a religiojn like that, so be it. But, around 16ish ? maybe i`m thinking..but thats just an opinion

Yea hey if your just going to have sex because everyone else is having it than you don't understand the conept of sex.. Sex has seriosu consequences, im fourteen and all my friends are basically doing it and im not, they get talked about all the time, i think your old enough to have it when::

1) you know the consequences liek hiv and serious std's
2) You know it love, and not just lust.
3) Your not just trying to impress her..

I know my opinion will not be the popular one.

I think when both parties are old enough, and responsible enough to become parents if it comes to that, then you are old enough.

If not, then you shouldn't play. Because, it has serious consequences. :)

Mackenzie answered Tuesday November 8 2005, 6:22 pm:
Not to come off as rude, but being sexually active is a BIG BIG decision, and it must be gone about properly and responsibly. It's NOT all fun and games! Sex is a serious issue with many major consquences, some possibly fatal. You will risk PREGNANCY, you will risk STD's, you will risk AIDS. Now tell me, do any of those sound fun to you? Doubt it. To put it bluntly, I don't think sex should be had until the participants are each emotionally and finacially stable enough to support a child on their very own. :)

MELiixMARiiE answered Tuesday November 8 2005, 6:06 pm:
That's good, you agree with me. I find 13 way too young of an age to have sex. I just find 13 year olds not mature enough or responisble to come to good decision whenever it comes to sex. You need to think of the consequences of what could happen if you had sex at such an early age. What if the girl got pregnant? You'd have to tell your parents and everything.. some 13 year olds don't think through everything properly. But there really is no "appropriate" age to have sex. Just whenever you are older and more mature and responislbe enough ( you and your partner both ) to come to a decision like that and have thought through everything and are positive that you want to, then sex is fine. It's just some 13 year old's do it for fun and for curiousity. I feel sex is something shared between two people in love and everything. I hope I helped!

Love,
MELii

TheTeenGirl answered Tuesday November 8 2005, 5:24 pm:
Almost everyone is going to tell you that age doesn't matter, and that you have sex when you are ready. Thats completely wrong. Do you think at the age of 13 you can actually decide if you are ready? No. When you are an adult and can afford the consequences is when you should have sex. Thats about 18 and above. That is when you can make accurate choices for yourself. If you can't afford the consequences, don't take the risk.

Yes i think 13 is young..
But i don`t really think there is a appropriate age to start age.. i think you should be in love with the person you have sex with and i don`t think doin it cuz everybody else is or some stupid reason like that is a good time or age.. I think if the person is ready for consequences that could possibly happen and are mature to take care of responsibilities then i think they are ready but until they have all that.. ♥ Dez

I agree, 13 is WAYYY too young.

I think that 16 or 17 would be a much better age. Or just whenever you are ready to take it to the next level with the person you love.

In most states, the age of concent to have sex is 16. That's in MOST states. Some it's 17 and other's it's 18. So, this means if you have sex under those ages, it's technically illegal.

Age 18 with a high school diploma! The reason why is that you can get a job to take care of your child IF you get a girl pregnant. And you would be able to go to the doctor to get checked out for STDs without worring about parents knowing.

queenbianca2004 answered Tuesday November 8 2005, 4:46 pm:
Thats not really a question you ask your friends because everyone has a diffrent answer. So I think that there is really no age limit to it because then it means your planning it. I mean its something you only do w/ someone you really and truly love and you feel youll be with for the rest of your life! I mean thats what I think. But I also think you should wait until your in HighSchool at least. I mean Im a freshman and I think about it often but you know Im not gonig to do it because my friends are and because I thnink Im the right age. But I also dont know if Im waiting till amrraige. So its something you plan but not like oh this day with this person and not discuss it. Plus it isnt all it comes out to be. There is alot of things you have to consider. Like condoms, birth control, and as soo nas you start having sex you need to go to the gynacologist once a year (thats a girl doctor where they check your vagina and see if its ok) Honestly Id be emberrased to go at 13. id wait till like 16. Plus you have to go w/ an adult so I mean is it something you wanna tell your mom at 13? Hope I hhelped!!!

rainbowcherrie answered Tuesday November 8 2005, 4:45 pm:
There is no appropriate age. It's different for everyone. If you're 13 and you don't think you're ready then fine, that's your own personal choice.

Obviously you should take the law into consideration, in the UK it is illegal to have sex if you are under 16. However, I think that it's as high as 18 in most parts of America.

A lot of people don't listen to the law and they choose to have sex when they feel ready.

So basically, there isn't an age where everyone is ready. Some people feel ready as young as 13 but some don't until they're early twenties, some even later.

It's up to you when you think it's appropriate for you to have sex.
