I know it's been a while since you asked this question, but I just stumbled upon it. I used to have cramps so severe that I would vomit, pass out, and scream with the pain, often in public places such as the campus of the university I was attending. I was put on birth control finally and it helped more than I could ever explain. And nobody should ever be ashamed to ask for birth control, no matter if it's because they are sexually active or because many people find relief from the horrible pain they endure with cramps. I felt odd about starting on birth control when I was engaged at the time and still a virgin, afraid my fiance would think I was cheating or something, but I realized that the chance to help with the humiliating public situations I endured for years was worth any fear of asking for the pill. You talk about staying home from school, I don't know how old you are or what your family is like, but if you're young, don't be afraid of talking to your parents about this either. You can show them medical articles online to help you with that conversation.
Sorry this is so long, but I want to help you because I "feel your pain." (that was terrible, I know)
Lastly, I also use heating pads, microwave ones are great because their portable. Evening primrose oil also works, as someone else suggested. You can find it in most drugstores in capsules, or health food stores. I also am a firm believer in the benefits of essential oils, and cederwood, chamomile, rose otto or rose absolute, lavender, tangerine, and bergamont are all wonderful for cramps and PMS. Find pure essential oils at health stores... pure oils are theraputic and not at all the same as lavender or rose lotion and body sprays out there. Cederwood, rose, and lavender mix well, are calming and reduce muscle contractions. Rose, lavender, and chamomile are very relaxing to the body and mind and mix well. Bergamont and tangerine mix well and are stress reducing and uplifting and help with PMS and smell sweet, fruity and fun as well. Chamomile tea also works wonders. But the one thing that provides me almost instant relief when I do still occasionally have a rough period in a yoga pose called downward (facing) dog. You get on the floor on your knees, stretch your arms out in front of you, and lay your arms and head down against the floor. Look online under yoga for a picture of the pose. It takes all pressure off your belly and this has saved me many times. (it's also a sure fire way to relieve painful gas, just a weird fyi, but anyone trying this you might want to be alone because it relieves it by helping to pass it, so in very plain words, be prepared to fart! Yep, I said it.) I'm not some new age granola eating hippie, (no insult to anyone, and I do dig on granola, just using a cliche here to make a point, i'm actually a natural remedy, organic product using, high school teaching old-school punk rocker, but anyway...)my point being, I really believe in the benefits of the things I'm saying here.
Sorry, sorry, sorry again for the length of my answer, but I really hope this might help you some. I saved myself a ton of very painful and often humiliating experiences using these methods. Best of luck to you with this, and with all things. ]
go to the Doctor and they will put u on the pill..... its takes away those horrible Cramps and regulates it ]

buy cinnamon sticks, boil one in one cup of water, wait for the water to get the color of the cinamon stick, cool down a bit and drink this like tea. IT IS GREAT ]
Taking Evening primrose oil every day and more just before and during your period will help with the cramps. Also a hot water bottle at the base of your back works wonders! ]

I read somewhere that eating a banana helps.....:P I've tried it a few times, and I think it might really work. And doing crunches takes some of the pain away. And sit on the floor on your knees, and lean forward with your arms out in front of you, and rest your head on your arms. Then let your back completely arch (Let your stomache drop.). It's kind of hard to explain....but it helps because it makes your stomache muscles completely relax. And then of course there's the good ol' heating pad...
Hope I helped! ^o^ ]
Yes medicine helps. Lay off some of the caffeine when you know you are about to go on your period. Chocolate seems like your friend, but it really doesn't help. Sometimes a nice hot bath works. Increase your water intake. I know it sounds weird, but going for a walk or some exercise does help. As you get older, it isn't as bad, but it takes a long time. If it is interrupting your schoolwork, you need to see a doctor. ]
this aint much but i hope it helps:i heard that staying active during ur period helps relieve cramps.if they're that bad, tell ur doctor. ]
exercise lots and lots ]
Put pressure on your stomach or put a baggy of hot water on your stomach when they come. I know it sounds wierd but when i get cramps i put books or something heavy on my stomach to make it feel better. Also you doctor can prescribe medicine to help because it sounds like they are pretty bad. Ask your mom about it and see if she thinks you should to the doctor. ]
hmm.. try eating something healthy and working out (it eases the cramps i gaurantee the more fit you are the less periods you feel)... take nice long soothing baths and try some heating pads.... also i think you can take midol for those cramps and bloating and etc (mine aren't that bad so i dont really worry about them)... but if they really bother you that much then you can talk to your doctor and try going on the pill. ]
use a heating pad, take a nice hot bath, and pop some midol. that will work wonders. also exercising helps alot too. i know it may seem like it wont but it does. but just relax for a little until they start to ease up some, so you can atleast move to get out of bed, and then try to do something. i know how ya feel on those days. but this will usually help, so i hopw it works for you. feel better hun. ]
ahhh all that shit sucks..but i used to get really bad cramps and i couldnt get out of bed... but im on birth control now and i almost never have cramps plus when your on birth control you only have a few periods a year when is less to worry about anyways.. i think that might be the best idea. ]
Put a heating pad on it, or get those kinds that you can stick on your underwear. They work, seriously. I get horrible cramps too so trust me. Also, drink hot chocolate. Any kind works, but mint works the best. Exercise actually does help, like walking, although it wouldn't seem like it. Taking some kind of cramp medicine, like Midol, might work, but I haven't tried it before. I'm sorry those are really all the tips I know of. ]
aww i know wut u mean~!! midol or tylonal! ]

MIDOL. I swear, Midol is my wonder drug! Lol, it works! It's the only thing I've ever found to work for "that time of the month". ]
