xoMarisox answered Sunday August 22 2004, 11:40 am: I would say $5. I babysat for 4 hours and only watched the kids for 1 hr 30 min and got payed 40 bucks. But I would say $5. My bro has been babysittin for a while and he usually charges $5.
accolade answered Sunday August 22 2004, 11:34 am: i'd have to say between 3.50 and 4 dollars. 3.50 is kinda low, but if he's a good kid i think that's okay.

S_C answered Sunday August 22 2004, 10:53 am: ok, well what a lot of people do is charge around $5 an hour
I do it like this
1-2 kids, $5
3-4 kids $7
and more then that, $2 per kid $3 per hour
if they ask, then tell them how you charge, thats the best way, because as the previous answer, people do talk
oh, and for children that are like 1 or 2, where all you have to do is change a diaper and put them to bed, and there is pretty much no watching necissary, then like $2 an hour
This is the 20th century, most people get more the 1.50 an hour
GC_rox_my_sox answered Sunday August 22 2004, 10:19 am: The thing is, it doesn't matter if the kid is an angel who will do what you say, or a horrible brat who refuses to eat dinner, you have to charge the same ammount for everybody's kid. People talk, and if word gets around that you charge someone else more, you're going to lose their business, and they will probably tell other people not to come to you.
What you charge depends on your age. If you're under 13, only ask for 1.50 and hour. 14 or 15-3.00 and hour. 16 and up-4.50 per hour.
Also think about who else babysits in your neighborhood. If the other babysitters are charging 2.50 and our, you don't want to charge 3.50 and hour or no one will come to you. Ask other people how much they charge, then go a little bit lower than them in price. [ GC_rox_my_sox's advice column | Ask GC_rox_my_sox A Question ]
