Stormbringer answered Sunday August 15 2004, 2:11 pm:
A cat would be your best option. Cats are loveable and playful, but at the same time will leave you alone when you need it to. Cats find a toy in anything and are always running about so don't worry about excersise. You need to feed them daily of course, and change the litter box.

A rat or guinea pig sounds like the pet for you! The only care you give them is to feed and water them, and to change their bedding every few days. They are very nice and smart, and you can play with them or hold them.

If you're looking toward a dog, I suggest a scottish Terrier. If you wanted to, all you have to do is feed them, have tons of toys, and play with them. If they get bored they go on their own and play by themselves.

Hope I helped at least a little,
Nicole

ok i think you should get a cat because you can teach it to use the liter box....all it needs is a big enough cage for it to sleep eat and drink if you work.........and when you get home let the cat go

or you can get a dog.....out it some bathroom pads on the ground for it to use the bathroom........and play with it

hope i could help

Cats are pretty easy. Just clean out their litter box, comb them at least once a week (unless you get a longhair- like me!), and feed them!

Mercy_x_Me answered Wednesday July 21 2004, 8:27 pm:
Try a cat, totally! Cats like playing with things like string and my cat even likes to play with pen caps. Dogs on the other hand need lots of care and need to be potty trained but cats simply go in the litter box. They're cute, cuddly, and fun. If you do decide to get a cat try getting a male, they're usually much more lovey dovey while females can be a bit sassy, yet still very fun.

- Cats don't take a lot of general care, but they do like a LOT of attention.

- Hamsters, gerbils, and small animals like that are really easy to take care of, and can be entertaining.

Go to a pet store and look around .. ask questions before you buy something though!

Cats. Cats are pretty much independent and in my opinion, don't require much care. Feed em, get a litterbox, thats pretty much it. (Besides vets stuff of course) They're playful too. Look for someone whos cat has recently had kittens, go pick one out and you're set.

A bird is a great pet. I had a parakeet. They require very little care and can be lots of fun. You can teach them to talk and everything. My bird would say everything. Its best to get them when they're young. The more stripes they have on their head, the younger they are.

Some apartments do allow dogs...but you never know.

You have to check with the management office, before getting any kind of pet!!

Hope this helps...

I'm a cat person so I may be biased on this one,but I think a cat would be perfect for this situation. While they do require some care(namely the litter box and making sure their food bowls are filled, lol),cats are very independant creatures, they can get along just fine while you're gone and they don't require CONSTANT 24/7 attention! But while they're independant, they are great to play with and they are very loyal and cuddly animals. They make great companions!!!:) Let me know what you get!!! :)

selectopaque answered Saturday July 10 2004, 12:45 am:
I'm sorry for this answer, you might not like it, but I volunteer at an animal orphanage and work at a kennel and also a veterinary clinic. I don't like it when people ask what kind of pet to get that doesn't take a TON of care, because ALL pets take a TON of care. If any animal is cared for properly then they take a ton of care. There are so many responsabilities that people just don't realize, and thats why so many pets are sent to animal orphanages. I see so many dogs, cats, birds, hampsters, rabbits, and lizards come into the orphanage because people got the animal thinking that there wasn't a whole lot of care involed. Later, after finding out that these animals needed too much time to take care of, they sent them away.

Birds need a LOT of socialization if you want them to be nice to you, that means holding them, playing with them, spending time with them, cleaning them almost constantly. The same goes with lizards and small pets like hampsters and guiney pigs, and also rabbits. You probably know that dogs need a lot of time and care and training, but so do cats.

It will be so sad if you get an animal, and don't have the time to socialize and tain him/her, and then that animal gets sent to an orphanage because of bad behavior problems.
