My names Casey. I'm a crazy cat lady who's obsessed about books and doesn't wear matching socks. I enjoy all kinds of tea and sometimes I believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
advice
this guy i have been dating wants me to come to a bbq with his family today. ill go but i just dont know about food, they hunt all their food and live in the country but im a vegetarian. last night i ate fish because his dad wouldnt leave me alone and i feel bad for denying their food, but i dont want to eat it. how can i nicely go about the eating part? its going to be mainly meat and if i dont eat it il have like nothing on my plate and be bugged about it all but if i eat it ill hate myself?? also were not boyfriend girlfriend so how do we act and introduce?
as for the first part simply say "sorry i don't eat meat." that's all you need to say. bring some veggie burgers along so you won't feel like you have nothing. you can blame it on allergies if you need too. it makes you sick, etc.
as for introducing, stick to "friend". if you're at a family gathering, most people will assume you're dating. hah.
How can I find out the calories and other nutrition facts from McDonald's? My friends have been eating there recently and I'd like to go out with them but I don't want to eat too many calories for just a burger or something. I guess I'm most interested in the calories of the McRib versus something like the McDouble or the McChicken. Anyway, I heard a LONG time ago that McDonald's had their nutritional facts available for people to look at somewhere. Where would I find them? Are they online or at the stores?
Oh, and calories for a small shamrock flavored shake, too, because those are my favorite!

What are some easy to prepare and not hard to find vegtables. I pack my lunch for school so need to keep them fresh for a four or five hours too.
Baby Carrot sticks are the simplest thing you can buy. Vitamin C!
Broccoli is also good. If you like to eat them raw. Calci-yumm.
Celery sticks. Low Carb and Low cal.
Cucumbers. Also low calorie.
Dip the above with some hummus and you got a tasty vegetable snack.
I have this friend who thinks she needs to go on a diet. I dont know what to do. should I go on a diet or should I workout? Im scared somepeople might think im fat or stupid if I show them my photos of me in belly button showers. Also, Im scared some people may not like me cause of the freckles next to my belly-button. Should I start putting skin toner on top of the freckles so people think its jus skin?

I think you care too much what people think about you. There's nothing wrong with freckles next to your belly button. They're freckles, you can't get rid of them. And if your boyfriend/whoever sees that its skin toner, he might be a bit freaked out. Don't worry, you'll find someone who'll like you for who you are.
As for working out/dieting, have you ever considered just eating healthier? If you eat dorritos and drink mountain dew all day, you might not be necessarily "fat", but you're definitely unhealthy. Cut out junk food. Eat healthier, smaller meals (eating a balanced diet as well).

will i loose weight if this is what my diet consist of:
breakfast:less then half cup of oatmeal (the kind you boil, not instant), half a cup of SKIM PLUS CHOCOLATE MILK (no fat and a lot of protein but a lot of sugar and carbs..) big cup of coffee with half and half (i have half a mugs worth, then a thermas full of it then sometimes if im hungry i have two small ice coffess with half and half and splenda)
snack: 5-10 carrots
lunch: salad with grilled chicken and water. or salmon in salad or quinwa (however u spell it!) with chicken, or salad with sliced turkey breast (u get what i mean....)
(here is where the second small ice coffe comes in if im hungry)
dinner: either grilled chicken with veggies and kasha. salmon with veggies and kasha. quinwa with chicken. or tuna steak with mushrooms. (i take the left overs for lunch the next day.. hence the repeat)
then ill have a diet coke and dont eat after like 7.
and im planning on adding in tredmil or eliptical twice a week.
i have been doing this for about a week now and im wondering if its worth it to continue this. will i loose a lot... how long till it shows.... lets say i dont excerice will i still loose?

well, i would skip the chocolate milk and just stick too the full half cup of oatmeal. it's more filling so you won't over-eat later on.
NEVER replace breakfast with coffee, you need FOOD to break the fast. not caffeine. on mornings without oatmeal, try toast with peanut butter. i like to have a banana with my foods, it keeps me full and i like it in my oatmeal! you can have coffee on the side, but don't over-do it. or stick with tea. it's healthier for you.
the lunch and dinner sound good. so do the snacks. carrots in the morning is a bit odd. maybe an apple instead? and saving the carrots for a before-dinner snack.
as for the diet coke, i would drop that altogether. if you can't, maybe drink it at lunch instead of before bed. just because it's diet doesn't mean it's good for you. it's loaded with chemicals and things that you just shouldn't eat.
exercise = YES. exercise is a great stress reliever. three - five times per week is most effective for weight loss.
just make sure you drink plenty of water. that's another big concern.
other than that, keep it up!
heyy i was wondering if you know anything about green tea and diet plans, i wanted to start a diet to lose close to 10 lbs in a month. and I heard green tea was a good way to burn fat.

hey - i'm a vegetarian too and i actually found that it was a lot easier to loose weight when i became one, mainly because i already ate pretty healthy as it is.
green tea does wonders for you. all you really need to do is boil some water, put a tea bag in a mug, add the water, and let it sit. it raises your metabolism, clears your skin, and keeps you awake! aim for around three cups a day. preferably in the morning so you can get some sleep!
other than tea - i'll tell you what my diet plan consists of:
breakfast: plain oatmeal with flax seeds (grind them in a grinder) and slices of banana on top. skim milk on the side.
** flax seeds are really good for vegetarians. they contain omega 3's, something we apparently lack of if we're not eating right!
snack: greek yogurt (has a ton of protein, usually around 12 grams per serving). with an apple or some type of fruit.
lunch: marinated tofu (usually at health food), carrots, spinach, and bean sprouts in a whole wheat wrap.
snack: low fat cottage cheese with honeydew melon or some type of fruit.
dinner: whole grain bun with veggie or "unchicken" burger. have half a plate of vegetables for a side.
**also remember to stay hydrated.
i would suggest getting the book "skinny bitch". i actually borrowed it from my library - but it's a vegan diet, easily a vegetarian diet. it has good tips on how you should eat and you drop weight pretty fast.
I'm aiming to loose weight by the summer, I've started to do sit-ups and a few other things a couple of times a week. But, my mum told me that its not my diet that I need to change. Just recently I've been eating more fruit though. So, I just want someone else's opinion about my diet?
Normally for breakfast, I don't have that much time in the mornings, I have either cereal or toast with a cup of tea. For lunch I have a sandwich, crisps and a nutri-grain bar. I have a variety of things for my dinners, from pizza, pasta, chicken veg and potatoes, curry (not very often). I have an apple or a banana as soon as I come in from school and maybe some grapes later on after dinner if I get hungry.
So, is this alright? Is it just exercise I need to concentrate on? I think maybe I need to make minor changes in my diet, but I'm not too sure? :/
i suggest eating about five small meals a day. cleaning up your diet would definitely be a big change.
first off, you need more vegetables! they're lower in calories and carbs. fruits great, but there's a lot more sugar! try snacking on carrot sticks, celery, sugar snap peas, bell peppers, broccoli, etc. add them to your lunch. also - switch the sandwich for a healthy turkey whole grain wrap with spinach, tomatoes, red onions, and more vegetables to your liking. kick out the nutri-gran bar and save it for a breakfast snack.
i'm doing this kind of backwards, but for breakfast, you should go with oatmeal. oatmeal keeps you full and is loaded with whole grains which are good for your brain! have a side of a banana, or an apple with a cup of skim/low fat milk.
your dinner sounds good. always try to keep your meal 1/4 protein, 1/4 carbs, 1/2 vegetables.
a perfect bedtime snack would be some type of fruit with cottage cheese.
so summary:
breakfast: oatmeal. banana. cup of milk. tea.
snack: nutri grain bar with some type of fruit.
lunch: turkey whole grain wrap. carrot sticks. cup of milk.
snack: some type of vegetable with low-fat ranch dip.
dinner: 1/4 protein 1/4 carbs 1/2 vegetables
snack: cottage cheese with some type of fruit.
drink 2-3 liters of water per day. chug more on days you work out!
as for working out - 30 minute to an hour is ideal. try riding a bike, running, swimming, hiking, etc. anything outdoors, really!

Hello im 18/f i want to become more healthier right now i eat alot of fast food and i drink a ton of pop and little water. I'm 5'6 and 143 pound and i want to lose a few pounds and not just lose weight but become healthier. I'm just wondering what are foods that are very good for you when you're trying to diet i've heard high protein low calories and carbs. Healthy foods Consist Of:
Chicken, tuna, oatmeal, sweet potatoes (no other type of potatoes), whole wheat bread (only type of bread you should have), non-processed lunch meat, non-dry fruit (don't overdo fruit - fructose generally goes to your liver instead of your muscles) cheese, nuts, bacon, cottage cheese, eggs, vegetables, steak (ideally lean to reduce calories).
Eat five small meals a day. Making each meal approx. 400 calories. Always aim for 1600 per day. Stop eating after 7pm.
Cut out soda all together. Even diet, sorry. If you need that carbonated spark, try seltzer water. Or just plain old water/tea. It's all I drink, really, and I feel fantastic.
As for exercising, weight training has tons of health benefits. I suggest looking into it. Even it's just 4 pound dumbbells you're using. It fights different kinds of cancer.

I suggest "Peta's Vegan College Cookbook". They're all recipes on how to stay vegan in school, and the only thing you really need is a microwave. If you wanted to see if you're library had one, I suggest checking it out. If they don't have it, ask if you can inter-library loan it. Once you get it, show your mom that you won't just be eating salads all day.
How can you tell when you're full? I am not overweight, but I tend to over-eat often. I'm sure my body gives me signals when I am full that I am just overlooking. How can I know when to stop eating?

i have a HUGE problem with binging on food. i eat tons and tons at a time until i feel sick. how do i stop myself from doing this? i am trying to lose 10 pounds and could easily do it but this binging gets in the way..
well, like the person below me, try eating about 5 meals a day. but make them small, and filling.
for example: eggs, toast, fruit, carrots, salads, etc.
also, try this:

lets just say that you're pulling up to macdonalds. you can smell that burger and you reallly want it, right? well, before you pull up. drive away. your stomach is most likely not really hungry. it just really wants that burger. driving away will make you forget about it. but if you still want it 10 minutes later, go for it.
its the same case for any other situation you might have.
but if you're not in a car, then try these:
- take a bath
- paint your fingernails
- drink a glass of water
- read a book or magazine.
how can you boost your metabolism?
eat healthy. eat less calories. work out or take a short jog after every meal.
i'm 15/f, 5'5" and 130-135 pounds. I'm pretty athletic and have plenty of muscle, so i know i'm not fat, but i can't make myself stop over eating! I'll be fine all day and then when i get home i eat way too much for dinner and dessert. I feel sick, but for some reason i have no will power to stop!

when you eat carbs, make sure they're whole grain. whole grains are better for you. but carbs are pretty much in everything soo.
trying eating 5-7 fruits and veggies per day.
along with 8 glasses of water.
cut out junkfood from your diet completly.
when you go to the gym, try 30 minutes on the tredmil, stairclimber, or lypsical(sp). then try arm and leg weight lifting for 15. then do your choice for the next 15 minutes. you should only work out for an hour 3-5x per week.

Juices do have a lot of sugar, so I always buy the bottles that say 'No Sugar Added', but I read in a magazine that drinks are actually how a lot of people gain weight. For example, sodas, iced teas, lemonades, juices, etc. I like having apple juice & orange juice. I'm not sure what to do about the whole sugar thing. Would it be okay to have a cup or two of juice a day?? My throat is always dry between meals & I dislike having water all the time. Any suggestions?? Oh & I also drink milk regularly. Thanks!!
well, i think that they're saying juices make people gain weight because people drink them without even thinking about how much their drinking.
like soda, for example. most of them come in 20oz bottles, which is 2.5 servings. 120 calories per serving. so you pretty much drank 300 calories. you probably could've eaten something with that. even a sandwhich!
so basically, i think thats what they mean when they say that.
drinking juices is fine. one-three per day though! and with the milk, just make sure its Low-fat or skim. because whole isn't that great, its just fatty.

well, if you want soda and don't want all the extra calories, the diet one is technicaly better.
its only bad for you because of the artifical sweetners, which are bad for you teeth, and hold water if your trying to loose weight.

too loose weight, you need to drop your calorie intake by 300-500 and burn at least 3500 cal. per week.

ok, so i got a not-so-snazzy haircut that is kind of short and i don't like it at all. i want to grow it out again desperately, so i was doing some research and it said that high-protein foods will make it grow faster by a little bit. what are some healthy, high-protein foods besides protein bars?
well, if you have a blender, you can make a berrie shake.
1/2 cup of strawberries
1/2 cup of blueberries
1 cup of non-fat yogurt
a serving of whey protein.
whey protein has around 30-40 grams of protein in it.
so yeah. good sourse. haha.

- Special K, Protein Plus
- Fruits and Veggies in general
- Dairy Products // Soy Products
I'm always hungry before I go to bed. I eat my meals and snacks throughout the day, but I always get hungry around 9 pm. I can control my hunger, but what would be the best thing to do? Would it be unhealthy or unsafe to not eat before you sleep? Or should I eat crackers or something? I'm on a diet also. Thanks!

So right now I'm in a dance intensive that consists of 3 hours and 15 minutes (roughly more or less depending on the day) of actual dance classes. 5 days a week.
And I was eating 1200 cals a day but I've stopped that and i'm taking it up to 1400 now b/c i couldn't maintain 1200 and it was too low. Is 1400 too low?

I've hit a really bad plateau recently, i've been 154 (and fluctuating 2-6 pounds around there) for about 2 months. And I've kept my eating and exercise habits the same. I can't lose anymore weight it seems. So help.
Try changing your routine.
Mix up the working out part. your metabolism has most likely become so used to your schedule you're not loosing anymore weight, just burning off the calories you ate.
Try running a couple times a week. Maybe after a meal, it will help.
Continue what you are doing in the eating area though.
