Q: I am 5'1" & I weigh around 139 to 143 lbs. I am not happy with this at all..I am a lil pudgy around the middle and want to loose this! I have tried and tried with the crunches everynight but that hasn't seem to help so now I am at a loss of what to do next! =[ One of my friends can loose 10 lbs in a week by just drinking water...maybe I can try this! If you have any suggestions then PLEASE let me know ASAP!!

10 pounds in a week is not only unhealthy, but it also is very hard to do. Generally, if you are going to try to lose weight, you go a pound or two a week. It's healthier, and the diet is much easier to keep. All you do is just cut calories. Like if you eat 6,000, eat 2,000 a day. Then exercise, and the results will come.
If it's an emergency such as a picture coming up, go ahead and try the 7 day fast. But you want to spread a goal (For you, probably 40 pounds) over a course of around 3-6 months.

Q: What is fasting all about, and how's it done?
I know loads of girls at school that are talking about fasts all the time (not that I'm thinking of starving myself or anything for the sake of being thin, I'm just curious)
I heard my friend tell her cousin she was gonna do a 5 day fast and her cousin asked her how she lasted so long on a fast so I'm guessing it's got to do with not eating.

Fasting is not eating anything. It can be no food, only drink, or no food, only water, or absolutely nothing for the time. It can also be minimal food. However, people fast to lose weight, to say they did it, and sometimes for religeous purposes. You do it for however long you feel like doing it.

Q: Ok, my girlfriend and I have been broken up for about 3 weeks. Last night we went out to dinner and we made out under the star-blanketed sky at the beach. She called me later that night and sometime later she asked me If I had thought about having one last "night". What should I do? I want to. But I don't know if I should.

Even though I highly advocate against sex when not dating, I still believe that your wants overpower what's right. If you want to have sex, go ahead. I mean, it's like playing a board game, just for fun. But only if you really want to, and are 100% confident that you will not regret it.
If not, just get back together with her. Then you can do it and have no guilt whatsoever.

Do it yourself. If you have somebody else do it for you, you look as if you are cowardly. You want to look brave. Also, friends tend to get things wrong a lot. Do it youself, and you will rely on yourself, becoming independent.

Q: What would 8.75 be in hours and can you walk me through the steps you took to get the answer. Thanks
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Well, first you take the 8. That's the number of hours. Then, you take the decimal and convert it to a number over 60.
75/100=x/60
So, That's 3/4=x/60
Multiply by 60
x=180/4
x=45

Q: i had a question. besides the risk of stds and pregnancy why are adults so against teen sex? like parents make a huge deal out of it and i dont see why if you use male/ female condoms and are on birth control. i mean there is always still of risk of those things but they arent the end of the world.

I think it's that parents are a tiny bit afraid of their children. Sex is something that shows adulthood to people. It is something that adults engange in, and is showing maturity and power over one's self. They believe that sex will first make their child wilder and more disobedient. For if a child defies them with sex, there is nothing less in the lines of disobedience. So, why wouldn't the do something less then? Also, they don't like letting their kids go. They want them to remain young forever.
Just my views on it. Feel free to drop one in the inbox if you want.

Puss. I know what you are talking about from when I popped on on my leg once... Never have popped since. It's the puss and fluid that causes the pimple in the first place. That's why it needs to be inflamed to pop also. It need to have enough to rupture the skin.

Q: Sometimes I like a guy for a while, then I REALLY like him, then I don't think I like him at all and I see him again and I like him...agian. This all happens in one day. Is this normal?

Definately normal. It's a crush. You have an instantaneous desire which leaves you almost as soon as it came. It's because you aren't committed to one person, and your thought wanders. I get it a lot. Just let it happen, and you'll stick to somebody eventually.

Probably under 200. Most eat 0, as that's no food at all. But those that do eat a cup of yogurt for lunch and dinner, which is around 100 calories. So, under 200. If you are trying to become anorexic, please don't. If you want to talk, just contact me. There are better alternatives.

However cold it is tommorow, go to school in a spaghetti strap shirt and short shorts. Show them your arms, show them your legs. Roll up you shirt and show them your stomach. They will see no scars, and you can tell them that that proves you to not be a cutter. If they still accuse you of it, ask them where the results would be. They will be dumbfounded.

Unfortunately, love is a thing that is too strong to be broken by an outside force such as yourself. You can state your opinion, and it will do a little damage, but love cannot be broken by someone else. If they threaten to break a friendship, they choose the love.
It's too powerful. Just state your opinion, and let them be.

Q: okay, so i REALLY like this guy.. and he says he likes me.. and we are liked "together" but not going out.. like we are basically dating.. but we have a commitment like we cant date other people. and he comes to my house every friday and he like kisses me and holds my hand and stuff.. but he will hardly ever hug me at school.. is he just playing a gam?
|
|
|
|
|

Not really. Togetherness is the state between dating and friends. I've been in it. It means that he does not need the same commitment to you yet. It is fine if he doesn't hug you at school. It just shows that he's not ready to show an outwards relationship yet. He will eventually.
He is not trying to trick you with this. He does like you, or he'd never come over. It's just his own personal insecurties that are getting him.

No, you are marginally thin. Your Body Mass Index is 18, you want it over 20.
The guilt after eating is what is concerning me. Guilt is one thing that a lot of people with eating disorders face. I am not saying you have one. You should go to a doctor to find out whether these are healthy thoughts you are having, and what you can do about them.

1. Everybody goes at a different time. You are later than others, it is completely normal. Nothing is wrong with you. Some get it as late as 14 or 15.
2. 12 year olds are not allowed on this site, FYI. Federal troubles.

Go to where you are more popular. Clinging to a bad past is not worth anything. You have more potential to shine at the other place, and more of a chance to live free.

Mental abuse, also refferred to as verbal abuse, is when a man hurts you emotionally instead of physically. He toys with your emotions, talking of how terrible you are at life, or anything. He threatens you of possible future consequences if you do not listen to him. His lectures on how you are hurting him, and make you feel like the downwards side of the story.

Of course. Offer to pay for his ticket, and say that you are doing that because you care about him that much. It's a nominal fee, I think it's $15 more in our school, and it really will work out if you try again. If he makes another excuse, though, you know it is a no.

Q: I'm an Aethiest. I strongly believe that there is no god. I respect other people's religions, and I don't try to convert people or anything. Now, I've been in scouting for years. Lots of years. From a Tiger Cub Scout in 1st grade to a First Class scout now (I'm kind of slow with scouting). Anyway, the requirement for every class that says to live the Scout Oath and Scout Law in your every day life is now being enforced. My parents made me describe each part of the Law and Oath in great depth. When we reached Brave and Clean, I was starting to slip up. And then we reached Reverent.
Boy Scouts expects everyone to believe in some sort of god, and be straight. Gays and Aethiests have been kicked out in the past. And since Boy Scouts is a private thing, government can't interfere. People have tried to sue and lost the case. Now, I want to keep scouting. I love being a Boy Scout. Plus, it'll look good on my job application forms when I'm old enough that it won't be against child labor laws. =P So my options are:
a) Quit scouting (I don't want to. Really.)
b) Believe in a god (I'm not going to change my beliefs because of this. It's not in human nature.
c) Lie about my religion (Also against the Scout Oath. Not good.)
So obviously, I'm screwed. What should I do? It's putting so much pressure on me...

Being a life scout who too did not believe in a God until this past year, I know where you are coming from. This is a case where a scout make a right vs. right choice. And yes, they are the hardest decisions to make.
You are walking home. You see a lady drop her groceries. Your dad said that you need to be home by 2, and you can make it home if you don't help her. Or, you can help her and be late. A scout is obedient, yet a scout is also helpful. What point is more important?
This is a matter of trustworthy, brave, and reverent. You cannot leave because a scout is brave and lives up to challenges. Yet, you cannot lie and brea the trustworthy part. Yet again, you cannot be reverent because of your own personal beliefs. So, what is the most important part?
Why don't we take a look to the scout oath for reference.
"On my honor, I will do my BEST to do my duty to god and my contry, to obey the scout law..." That's where you go to. You do not have to obey every scout law. Sometimes, they conflict with each other. So, you can in fact defile one of the laws to get the others straight. AKA, you'd only defile 1 to get the other 2 back.
Then, the last line "And to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight." That line played a big role at the 12 cubed show at the Jamboree. It's duty to self. You are also a big part in this decision, as you need to remember what is best for you. Scouts are for you, you don't have to be for scouts.
So then, which do you do? Go ahead and lie about your religeon. Leaving scouts immediately takes away an advantage you have already. The scout law and oath are still guiding you daily, they do not guide some people. You know important skills required. And you also have a shot at Eagle, which could allow you to get into the college of your choice automatically. You'd give up those advantages by leaving. Heck, do you know the bowline? Can you tie a square knot? Where'd that be without scouting? You'd still be stuck tying shoelace knots.
Then, there's making yourself believe in God. NO! That is also against the scout oath. A scout is trustworthy. A scout also does a duty to himself.
So, that leaves lying about your religeon. Go ahead. You may be like me, and find yourself soon. You may never. Yet, you are still a scout.
-Steven
PS: I should be Eagle, I've been working on it for over 2.5 years now, nonstop, and I have all requirements done. I should be able to get my board of review now. But, my troop says that I need to implement leadership projects with the troop. Bleh. You tell me.

Q: Why is love so confusing, hard to understand? I don't know if i like my friend or not... He was in one of my classes last year and I only really got to know him this year. My date for homecoming is a guy who I became friends with just this year, he's in three of my classes. While talking to him today, I casually asked him if he was doing anything after school today because I wanted to go over to his house to see his new dog. But then he told me, "listen, i want to go to homecoming with you, but i don't want to go out." Ouch. If i had wanted to go out with him, I would have been hurt. But I told him i had no intentions of going out with him. But now that i think about it, the day before, he seemed mad at me and was avoiding me for some reason, and i felt really depressed about it. It was only till i talked to him and he told he wasnt mad at me that I felt better... does that mean i like him? Because when he finally talked to me, my heart started beating really hard... does that mean i like him? Any advice will be appreciated :)

No, it does not mean that you like him. It means that you are friendly with him, and wanted to remain as such. You thought that you lost a friend at that moment, because you had slipped out something that sparked a fire. It happens, and you always miss a friend that you lost just as you would miss a love. You felt better because you realised that he was still going to be your friend, and he was not mad. It was like your best friend getting mad at you, and then you realise that she isn't at all.
Your heart was beating hard because you weere nervous at that point. Normally, when you execute something like that, your heart always beats harder, due to nervousness. Has happened to me even in non-person situations. Often during football games. It's just being nervous.

THE PENGUIN RULES ALL! AHAHAHAHAHAHA! *Cough*
Hello! My name is Steven, and I am a mentor. Yes, that does mean that I help other people. I have helped over 1000 people to date, and have helped some individuals for over 1/2 a year. The miracle of my life occurred 17 years ago. I say miracle only because 1/4 babies survive to be born.
I am the first born of 2 children, and I am also the black sheep. I listen to Classical Music, so you can call me a weirdo. :P. I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, so take no offense if my answers never seem to end.
In school, I get As and Bs. More Bs really. I play trombone, and was the section leader of the trombones at my school. This year, I am the captain of the entire brass section. I am an Eagle Scout, so I guess that says I'm persistant? You make the call. I am a 3 time varsity letter winner, looking for a 4th next winter. I also participate in the musical, where I am a Bass 2. :)
I am straight, and have never had a relationship beyond a friend. However, I have survived the bumps in the road, and can advise you if you wish it. Though, it's not my strength.
I'm here for you, and only you. That means that my advise will not always confort you. Heck, it may even scare you. Yet, I want you to do what is best for your mind. Not what is typically seen as best for you, but what YOU see best for YOU. Heck, if you wanted what was seen as best for you, you would've asked your parents what you should do. They give you what's typically best.
Alright, before I start getting tendinitis from writing that over and over again, I'll just say what I mean. I mean that if you ask me about something, let's say walking 10 miles a day, and I think it's rediculous, yet you are asking for something to do, I am NOT going to say "10 miles is the type of a thing a anorexia athletica would do. Try 5." I'll give you something to do.
Oh, and I'm a L1 moderator, which means I rate questions.
Don't hesitate to IM me, I'm usually on. If I'm not, just drop one in the Inbox!
Oh, by the way, I am liberal in everything. That means that abortion is a woman's RIGHT, and gay marriage should be LEGAL.
Ask away!
