gina answered Saturday October 15 2005, 2:41 pm: Mental abuse is when people put you down by saying things that will hurt or offend you, or make you feel bad about yourself in any way! If anyone constantly says mean things to you, and you feel hurt by it or you know he/she is saying those things to hurt you and not to help you, then you are suffering from mental abuse. Trust me, you will be able to sense whether it's abuse or constructive criticism. [ gina's advice column | Ask gina A Question ]

sbloemeke answered Friday October 14 2005, 5:53 pm: Mental abuse, also refferred to as verbal abuse, is when a man hurts you emotionally instead of physically. He toys with your emotions, talking of how terrible you are at life, or anything. He threatens you of possible future consequences if you do not listen to him. His lectures on how you are hurting him, and make you feel like the downwards side of the story.

sillyrob answered Friday October 14 2005, 4:49 pm: That is where you take your brain, and abuse it. Hitting it, throwing it against a wall, lighting it on fire. Pretty much anything that is considered abuse...
...just kidding. It's stuff that messes with people's minds in a very serious manner. Let's set an example. (This is completely fictional.)
Everyday when my brother comes home, I call him a stupid faggot and start hitting him. I don't do it in a playful way though, I actually injure him. After having this happen everyday for years, something in his mind will change. He could be so scarred he thinks he's gay, he could have an un-natural hatred for gay people, he could repress it all and pretend like nothing happened only to one day snap, anything like that.
It is a very serious thing, and it is in no way funny. It can lead people to do things they don't want to do, such as self harm, harm of others, and possibly suicide. [ sillyrob's advice column | Ask sillyrob A Question ]

Someone can say things to you, like calling you stupid, a whore, asshole, horrible person... Anything that will really hurt you. If they do it so much, it starts to get to you mentally. That would be mental abuse. [ xXxpinky615xXx's advice column | Ask xXxpinky615xXx A Question ]
