Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?
Makeup, skincare, and psychology are my passions and I'm also happy to give advice on relationships, particularly for teenagers (so many things I wish I could have told myself a decade ago!) I'm happy to help fellow abuse survivors as well.

Alright, I'll stop being cheesy now.

I need help, and awfully fast.

My best friend asked me, and a handful of our other closest friends to come up with a list of eighteen songs we would want on a CD that we don't already have. Basically, it's half of my Christmas present from her.

I found out today that I'm the only one left who hasn't given her a list.

My problem? I can't think of anything I don't already have that I want. I mean, I have limewire - and my list for her is currently only two songs long, and I don't listen to the radio.

If you could possibly list some good songs for me, I'd highly appreciate it.

So far I have:

im very active in my school`s music program, and I`m always in the plays, and tryouts are next week, I am almost guaranteed to get it, i know i have a good voice, but I really want to try out with a song that really shows off my voice.. i am an alto, and i cant really sing higher than c or d in my chest voice, does anyone know a good song to tryout with?

I'm getting an iPod nano (second generation) and I was wondering if I should download Limewire. Some of my friends have told me it give their computer viruses, while others tell me it works fine. My computer's about 4 years old, it's a desktop from Dell. Should I use Limewire, or just stick with iTunes?

What most people who have limewire don't realize is that it is spyware, it will give you popups and slow your computer down, it's wrecked 1 computer I had. Also it's next to impossible to remove it. If you're okay with having a slow computer (also be aware that limewire has a lot of viruses and porn on it- and you can't tell just by looking at the file name) then get it, but Itunes is easier and works better with Ipods.

I keep pondering whether God is supporting homosexuality, or opposing it. Many of my Christian friends have told me it's a sin to be homosexual, or bisexual for that matter, and according to the bible marriage is between a man and a woman. However, I always viewed it as God would accept you no matter who you are, or what you believe in. I am wondering which side I should take. I am not against homosexuality/bisexuality at all. I am befriended with many of them, and they don't bother me. It's just I am not sure which side is right, and which side I should go for. I need explainations on which side is better, even if it's based on opinion. Thanks in advance!

I figure that if God didn't like gays, he would get rid of them. After all, look at everything He did in the bible...surely if he cared that much he would take some action.
Besides, gays are still God's children!

It is mentioned in the bible that homosexuality is a sin, however I don't believe in taking the bible very literally, after all it says that slavery is okay!

EDIT: For God's sake, did you need a recipe or something? You can't expect me to come with a good idea for someonw I don't even know that you know nothing about with a tiny budget. Most guys love eating, so if you baked some cookies or bought him some chocolate I'm sure he'd be happy...and it would save you money.

I'm going to a formal dinner and dance this weekend with my boyfriend and his parents.

I'm wearing a black halter dress that comes down to my knees on the left side and my calf on the right... it's really pretty :) I'm wearing purple flats with it.

Thing is, I don't know what to do for hair and makeup!

I have really short brown hair, blue/grey/green eyes, and pale skin. Currently I only own black eyeliner and black mascara (I'm ridiculously low maintenance!)

If you have time to go shoe shopping, I'd get a pair of black or silver shoes instead of purple, unless you have jewelry that has purple in it.

Blowdry your hair, maybe put a little shine serum in it. Apply a little bit of a rosy blush on your cheeks, not a lot. Line your eyes, apply a little more mascara than you usually do. Apply a sheer lip gloss with a hint of pink and you should be ready to go. You're really pretty- you don't need a lot of makeup.

I need to choose a book written by an american author by friday and I have no idea what I want!

I'd like to read a good romance book (I wanted to read The Notebook but somebody else got it before me) or just something interesting, I guess. Nothing too long and nothing too obscure, because I'm going to be researching the novel and the author so if I can't find any information on them, I can't write the paper.

So if someone could give me some recommendations, that would be great. And maybe a little bit about the book you're recommending. I'm mostly looking for good romance novels but I also like mystery, thriller, whatever. Just something interesting.

The Wedding by Nicolas Sparks is very similar to The Notebook. I liked it better actually.
That's the only thing I can think of right now (it's really late where i live) but i'll go on tommorow and think of some books.

I'm so sick of being alive. Everything is so hard. I can't stand it. It's like I'm doing something wrong. I have few friends, but it doesn't matter because I don't like them. I don't like any one. People don't meet my standards and they never will. And when it comes to girls I have no idea what I'm doing. It's like there's some secret technique that every one but me seems to understand. My problems with girls contribute the most to my loneliness and depression. I'm unmotivated in school, because I care more about trying to find a place I belong, trying to find some one who understands me. I can hardly sleep because I'm always worrying about all this. I'm scared I'll never have friends. I'm scared I'll never have a good job. I'm scared I'll never have my first kiss or have sex, and if I do it will be with some one I don't want to do it with. Somewhere between now and the next few years I 100% sure I'll be dead. I can't take it anymore. I've been to therapy and they even locked me up like a criminal in a mental health ward, but to no avail. I hate life. I hate myself. I hate every one, especially if they're happy. I don't see things ever getting better. Please help me. And don't post anything about God, Jesus, or religion of any kind, it will be an automatic 1 on your rating.

I know it's easier said than done, but stop being so negative. If you believe something's going to be awful, it will be.
The reason you don't have friends/a girlfriend is because people don't like hanging out with negative people. Sad but true.
Worrying about things won't help anything. Most girls would rather have a genuinely nice, inexperienced guy than a cocky, experienced asshole. If you try to smile (it will feel fake at first) and you're a nice person, you will have friends.
The truth is, no guy really knows what he's doing when it comes to girls. The secret technique is that they TRY. They don't just sit at home and feel sorry for themselves. They don't hate everyone. That's the easy, wimpy way out. Your self-destructive feelings are to be perfectly honest pathetic. You can't expect people to do everything for you. Taking your life is not poetic or sad. It's what cowards do. Do you really want to be remembered as a coward? It's selfish. How about the person who finds your body? Your family? Think about other people for once.
Honestly, I don't think anyone can help you if you don't try to help yourself first. Stop hating everyone for having things you don't have. There is something positive about everyone. Things will get better but only if you believe they will. You need a lot of help (it sounds like you had a bad therapist, but a good one can really help) and it will not be easy but you can have a happy life through your own willpower.
If you read even a few of these answers, you know how many people have been through what you're going through. They beat it. Your problems are not unique, they are fairly common and can be fixed. Don't pretend people won't miss you...every person who has answered your question will feel sad if you killed yourself. You're obviously a very intelligent person- and a great writer- don't just waste it. Very few people get a gift like that. USE IT. If you can write like for a simple question, think what you can do with a book.
Please, if nothing else, don't kill yourself. It's a long-term solution to a short-term problem.

I dont get any of them... like idk what to write at all. The notes i have i can't really apply to anything (i'm braindead about this whole book)

1. In what ways does John Proctor, a guilt ridden, self-confessed sinner, prove that he is a moral character. Please cite evidence from the play to support your response.

How does Elizabeth Proctor earn your sympathy as the play develops -- specifiacally from the moment you meet her in Act 2 through the end of the plan, when she says about her husband, "He has his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him!" Please cite evidence from the play to support your response.
(notes I have: willingly goes when arrested, courtroom in Act 3, saves family, husband doesn't judge)
3. How does Act 3 serve as the play's climax (the point of highest dramatic tension and/or major turning point in the action)? Please cite evidence from the play to support your response
(notes I have: when he's going to jail "oh god", "confessing", mary warren, a williams)
4. One of the most prominent themes in The Crucible is the importance of the name. Analyze what a good name means to such characters as Rev. Paris, Abigail Williams, and John Proctor, using specific examples to support your conclusions.
(notes I have: tries to save name, concerned about rep, people don't like him, lies to keep name (john p)& abigail flees.)

1. He tries very hard to repair his marriage and ignore abigail. Also, he refuses to condemn other people and ultimately refuses to lie (in the scene where he tries to falsely confess).
2. In the first scene where she is shown, it is made obvious that (a) her marriage is a disaster and (b) she loves John but doesn't know how to talk to him. Also, she fully complies with her arrest. I think the best example of this prompt is when John confesses to lechery and Elizabeth is called in to support this claim. It's not as obvious in the book, but I've seen the play performed and it's absolutely heartwrenching- she doesn't know what to do, and when she realizes she has discredited John, it's awful.
3. Again, this is another thing that is hard to catch unless you've seen the play performed. When Mary tries to testify against Abigail and the girls, it's very dramatic- lots of yelling and tears, and when she finally gives in, it's superdramatic. Also, Hale storming off ("I denounce these proceedings! I quit this court!). Finally John's fiery speech at the very end is the final proof.
4. John Proctor ultimately refuses to sign the confession because he doesn't want to ruin his name. Everything else you have is right.

Mascara- six months
Lipstick- three months
Lipgloss- up to a year
Eyeshadow- two years

Liquid makes your skin shiny, so you have to put powder on top.

Powder can sometimes make your skin look dry/flaky.

I don't understand this. Many people are beginning to say X-mas. Well, the whole point of Christmas is because it is the birth of Christ. Isn't calling Christmas X-mas taking the whole point of Christmas away?

And actually, Jesus was born in July. Christmas was originally a pagan holiday in december, but the Christians in olden times wanted the Pagans to convert. The pagans wanted to keep their holiday, so the Christians just changed the name to make it sound Christian.

Christmas is a celebration of family and friends- of gift giving and being happy. Nothing to do with Jesus- it celebrates Saint Nicolas.

I'm going ice skating at rockefeller center, a great place in the city, with the boy i like, his friend, and my 2 girlfriends. I really want to impress the boy i like but not be so obvious. I dont know what to wear, or how to act at all.
PLEASE GIVE TIPS!!

Wear a cute, swirly, above the knee skirt (not a tight one) and cute ankle length leggings with a sweater, also a jacket if you get cold easily. Put your hair half up, not a lot of makeup.
Don't act at all. If he doesn't like you for who you are, then he's not worth your time.
Generally guys aren't "impressed" by girls being good at something, so don't stress. Just try not to fall, but if you do, laugh it off.
