I keep pondering whether God is supporting homosexuality, or opposing it. Many of my Christian friends have told me it's a sin to be homosexual, or bisexual for that matter, and according to the bible marriage is between a man and a woman. However, I always viewed it as God would accept you no matter who you are, or what you believe in. I am wondering which side I should take. I am not against homosexuality/bisexuality at all. I am befriended with many of them, and they don't bother me. It's just I am not sure which side is right, and which side I should go for. I need explainations on which side is better, even if it's based on opinion. Thanks in advance!

Homosexuality, God has flat out called an abomination. He also states, they will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
If you truly repented and accepted Christ as yur Savior, then You would naturally turn from homosexuality. I believe anyone can come back from being gay. No matter how into it they are. Every sin is forgivable.

You are right, it does say in the bible that marriage should be for men and women. Just because someone is bisexual or homosexual does not mean that he will not accept you or love you. From a biological point of view, I don't agree with the idea of homosexuality. I don't, however, discriminate against those who are.
First you need to know what it means to sin. To sin, according to the Bible, means to deliberately and knowingly turn away from God and do wrong. So you have to know that you what you would do is wrong and going against God, and then you have to actually want to go against God and the Bible for it to be considered sin. For example...if you kill somebody dangerous in self defense, that isn't sin, even though the Bible says not to kill others. Was it right for you to do so? No. Was it sinful? Probably not. I could give you a really detailed explanation of what sin is, and if you need more info you can inbox me.
So I think that God does not support homosexuality...he didn't create us that way. Even from a non-God point of view, if we all became homosexuals, it would basically kill off humanity, and we can't have that. I also think that God does not look down upon homosexuals. Have you ever seen a lesbian couple just holding each other? Have you ever seen them so casual and right together?
When you see that kind of love, it's hard to believe it could be wrong. I don't see how it could be. Love--what God supposedly wants above all--should not depend on colour or race or sexuality or gender or any of the above. It's pure. It's real.

It is important for you to have a clear picture of how you view the Bible. Is it the word of God, or not?
As for which side is "better," there really isn't an answer for you.
If you believe the Bible is the word of God, then it is time to consider the following:
1Corithians 6:9-10: "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
... In this case the KJV is the most polite.
So here you have something to consider:
"...shall not inherit the kingdom of God..."
... is pretty direct and to the point.
Am I against homosexuals? No. Do I feel sorry for them in the light of the above verse? Yes.
So you see, God will accept anyone who REPENTS (abandons, and turns away from) of their sin.
I have had this conversation quite a few times with various homosexual men and women I have met. The answer seems to always come back:
"I don't want to inherit any such kingdom!"
... At which point, you will only be pushing them further away by pursuing it.
I could list the other relevant Biblical references, but I imagine you are familiar with them already.
It comes down to your personal beliefs.
Do you believe the Bible is the word of God?
If you don't, then there really isn't much point in calling yourself a Christian.
If you do, then you have your answer.
It is important to remember that everyone's salvation is worked out between them and God.
Beating someone over the head about it, may be counter productive, while living an exemplary life is your best witness.
I would say that is you believe the Bible as the word of God, then there is little room for doubt that the God of the Bible considers homosexuality a sin. Abomination is, after all, a VERY strong word.
Many homosexual people want nothing to do with God, have rejected the idea of there being any kind of god at all.
This is very important: It is your right to believe in God. It is each other person's right to believe or not believe in God.
Just as you would rather not have anyone else tell you that you are forbidden to believe in God, it is the same for others.
Prayer and living an exemplary life, now and always, are, in my opinion, your most effective venues if you wish to intercede for someone.
To summarize: In my mind, there is NO doubt that the God of the Bible considers homosexuality a sin.
If you believe in said God, and you don't want to piss him off, you back his play.
So, if you don't think it is a sin, where it is made plain that according to the belief system to which you subscribe (Christianity,) then the problem isn't with the homosexuals at all, but rather with your own knowledge of your faith. :-)
adviice_whore answered Monday December 11 2006, 8:02 pm: hun, you dont have to go completely by the bible. you have freedom of speech and you can believe in whatever you want. form your own opinions and believe in what you think is right. if you dont think being gay/bisexual is wrong, than stay with your guts. god loves everyone and even if it is a sin, everyone makes sin all the time whether its swearing, stealing, lying, cheating, making fun of someone, or even killing someone, they are all sins. its okay to make sins god will forgive you. just go with your gut and follow what you believe in because thats why god gave us brains so we could think for ourselves and make our own decisions and own beliefs. Whenever God created us, he created us to be individuals, differnet, unique, with our own thoughts and opinions. So why would he create something he did not like?
Also, if you have no problem with homosexuals, that's your opinion and you have the right to your own opinion. Like I said, God created us to have our own thoughts and opinions, otherwise, we'd all be the same.
I'm not going to say what side is RIGHT, cause like I said, everyone has their own views on what's right, what's wrong, what's this, what's that, but my own personal opinion is just accept everyone.

Besides, gays are still God's children!
