i was talking to my gf because shes been upset a lot lately and has been talking about suicide. i tried to figure out why shes been so miserable and its because its her best friend is thinking about suicide. at this point i have no idea what to do. she wont let me talk to her friend but at the same time told me not to worry and just to foget about it...suicide isn't something you can just forget. so should i tell her parents even though she told me not to? what can i do? i love her too much and i dont want to lose her =(

I think you should tell her parents. Even if she may get mad at you, it will save her life. Don't waste any time and tell someone, quickly!

I'm 13 and I way 113 pounds. I am not bib but I am not super skinny. I am very muscular. I run atleast a mile atleast 3 times a week and i do sit ups and other excercises every night but I can't seem to lose weight. Is this a bad weight? and does anyone know any good ways to lose weight 5-10 pounds?

You are totally healthy (because you exercise). Don't loose weight.

i am overly sensitive! it's like i either under or over react my emotions, and i'm ultra sensitive when people tell me stuff. I think thats also why i dont like loud screaming music, i like all music except that, i think because im too sensntive for it it sucks, becuase i can't stay happy for too long because i get sad easily, because im so sensitive. how can i toughen up and not be so sensntive to live happier? It's ok being sensitive. I hate all that heavy music too.
My advice (to "toughen up") is just to think about what people are trying to communicate to you- just be aware that they are not trying to hurt you. Keep an open mind. Think positive, and if something upsets you just forget about it.

I use a sponge to wash my dishes -- wet sponge, squirt on detergent, wash dishes, rinse dishes and sponge, pretty standard. Every time I get out the sponge to wash the dishes again, it's hard and stiff and I have to wet it for it to be flexible. Is this the normal condition for used sponges or is there something I can do to make the sponge soft all the time? I tried rinsing it an extra long time last time, but it's still got hard again. Ok, I'm a 13/f who LOVES helping out the community. I do community work all of the time and I mean I make brownies and other deserts for the hospitals and nursing homes, I do all of my chores and get good grades. BUT I'm not a dork or anything. I mean I go out with my friends on weekends that I'm not helping out with a commuity service project or something. And I have a million friends. And I mean I'm never really happy. But is being too happy, and too helpful a turn off for guys? Because I'm not ugly (I'm a model I can't be ugly) but I still have only had 2 boyfriends in my life. This is great, the way you are serving your community and getting good grades. You are going to be very sucessful in future years (ha I sound like a fortune cookie!). But really, I don't think that guys won't like you just because you do all this and are happy with your life! Come on, guys mature slower than girls so don't worry about it. If they don't like/respect your ideals, then they are not for you.

i cannt stand my mother any more, she is fucking crazy. she randomly get all mad at me and screams and will fight with me, and im no person to just sit there and take it. a few examples, this morning i went to sit and watch tv in her room and she was flipping our sayin i dont want you in here get out! telling me to "go FU** my self" and if im in the bathroom, doing my makeup or either going to the bathroom she comes in like shes allowed when im in there! and she`ll yell at me and stuff and if i tell her to get out and like eggs me on and gets in my face saying like " you think your tough??" i hate her shes crazy.. and ya ive known shes been on drugs forever but shes never done anything, like last night at like 3:45 am she was friggen in the bathroom blowing her nose out like it was her friggen job. then after she yelled at me to get out of the bathroom this morning she was fine! she askked me to go away with her this weekend but now tonight shes being crazy

That sounds serious- I can't tell you much but your family needs help. I don't know what drugs she's using but if she has been a regular user, it's going to be very hard to quit. I strongly suggest talking so someone about this like another family member. If you have no one to help you, try talking to your school counselor (they should always be available). I think that your school also has information about hotlines that you can call to get help also. But for the time being, you should just avoid her, give her some space, don't talk to her/anger her when she is like this. I also suggest posting this on advicenators publicly, because people will give you more recources for help.

Draw what intrests you! Have a favorite animal, sport, hobby, anything? If you still have no idea, you can improve on drawing by sketching your surroundings. You can get pretty good if you keep drawing often enough.

Always get dark/metallic blue. It goes well with jeans, etc.- just a universal color. You can try different colors to see what you like/don't like, but darker blues are the best. Green looks like you have food in your teeth, white/clear/glow in the dark just change color and make you look stupid (haha)...You can try dark metallic green or something.. Hmmm... Many other colors don't look good, so just go with the dark-medium blues.

What's the rule of thumb for keeping oscars in a tank? Like.. how many gallons per oscar should you have for your aquarium.

You'll need 100 gallons per oscar if you want them to grow big and fat. HA. As for the cichlids, it may not be a good idea because oscars are agressive.

I've had a hamster before (when I was really young) and since have gotten into reptiles a lot, and have snakes and lizards and all that. So I'm pretty used to handling a lot of animals, (and, well, I wouldn't do something idiotic like holding a rodent before handling my snakes.)
I think rats are one of the most intelligent species of animals, and make great pets. I've always loved them, and I'd like to get a young rat. - I'm not sure how to take care of one, though. Are they OK in a regular cage? In a tank? Is taking care of a rat more complicated, or about the same as a hamster? If I do get one, I want it to have a full life. How long do they usually live?
I tried looking info up on these guys but everything was contradictory, depending where I got it from. Thanks for anyone who helps, and please - no comments on rats and snakes being "gross! eww!!!11oneone!!". They're really nice animals and beautiful creatures.

(First of all I agree with you about rats and snakes being really nice)...
Rats are pretty much the same as hamsters. Although they can live in a tank, I think that a cage would be better because it allows more air to pass through and you need a big cage anyway (a big cage is easier to clean than a big tank). Just make sure to put it in a good place because rats stink a bit more than hamsters!
A normal rat life, depending on it's genetics, will live for about 2-3 years. You can get really nice ones from rat breeders that might be more healthy and friendly than the ones in normal pet stores. I also reccomend getting 2 rats to keep eachother company if you won't be handling yours 24/7.

Uh oh, I sure hope you put the male and female in seperate cages. If you didn't, you have a project right there- the birth and development of baby hamsters! (If that happens, or if you actually want to breed them, ask me anything- it's so easy to take care of the babies, etc.).

i am 13/f and i am a very artsy person. i am redecorating my room and i want to paint some paintings to frame on my walls any ideas on what i could paint? i love music, dance, and color if that helps at all. i rate & thanks a bunch! (link)

It depends on what color your walls are but if your walls are white, I would just paint a bunch of canvases different solid colors, or make simple/abstract dance or music paintings. If your room is a certain color, blue for example, you could make it a bit monochromatic by creating paintings that match blue (green, shades of blue+purple) or you could create a cool scheme of bright colors (any colors would work as long as they make you happy). Fill your walls with paintings with NO frames (I just like it because a canvas looks more "clean cut" and very artsy). If you do paintings on flat paper and frame them, make sure the frames are simple and not too distracting.

I just moved into a new house and my room is light pink and green. I am not into that at all, not one bit. But my parents won't let me paint over it. I'm not gothic; but my favourite color is black, i wear black all the time, i'm into heavy metal, my favorite band is Lamb of God and Insane Clown Posse. I like stars and hearts. I would probably be more into the colours if they were alot darker, but i can't paint! I asked if i could get a black stripe near the top but our painters' hand isnt steady enough, but I can paint some black into it, but where? Not the whole thing so what can i do? What can i do that will make my room alot less girly and young? Please help! I hate these light baby colors! (link)

If your parents won't let you paint over those colors (wow, green and pink! pretty bad combination) then that's pretty bad...
Ask your parents if they'll go for another color (black can kill a room). I suggest to paint your room a navy blue and have black furniture. Many other colors go well with black furiture too, as long as they are not too light or too dark. If your favorite color (black) works as an accent instead of a theme, it can be even better looking.
Or maybe you could make star and heart stencils and cover at least 1 wall with black and blue (or color of your choice) in hearts and stars.

I NEED A HORSE!!!! i love horses and i really want one.my friens tory got a horse last summer. my mom said its a posibility to get one.i was dreaming every night about having a horse after that.they havent said anything about it and win i bring horses up they allways change the subject.im sorry of making this so long but i am in need of your help.
we also need more money.can i get money out of my UGMA account(uniform gift to minor account)?

I know you don't like to hear it but it's just cold reality that horses are expensive, and that's probably why your parents are shunning the possibility. It would be really nice to have a horse though! I suggest leasing a horse.
Maybe you could make a deal with someone (that doesn't have as much time to ride/give attention to their horse) and help them out by taking care of their horse... Maybe ask your friend to share the horse with you if possible.
And maybe you could just hang around or work at a stable just to be with horses if all else fails. If you get a small job like that then you could start saving money and gaining even more horse knowledge so in the future you can get a horse!

I didn't know where to put this question, but anyway, I can ride horses bareback very well and I jump horses very well (with a saddle of course). Think I would get hurt if I tried jumping without a saddle? I've never fell off a horse bareback, and I flatout gallop them. Just wonderin. (link)

Well it is quite a lurch when jumping so you should at least try getting very used to it before jumping like that... I think you should ask a trainer. And never forget to wear a helmet!

As dumb as this may sound, I didn't actually realize how horrible it is, when you eat chicken & hamburgers. I didn't actually understand the concept that for me to eat a hamburger, is for an innocent cow to just die. My friend sent me an e-mail with a video about fur trade in China, and how dogs & cats are skinned and killed everyday just for fur. But, it got me to thinking how horrible that actually is. I really have been thinking about it today, and I think just eating hamburgers & chicken is disgusting especially knowing that an animal died for that. I'm really considering turning into a vegetarian. Do you believe that this is a good enough reason to want to turn vegetarian? Thanks so much. ♥ (link)

It really is your choice.
I am an animal lover too, I know how bad it is to be thinking about the animals that serve as food...
The way I think of it is that man, in general, was meant to eat meat as well as plants. Even though it is cruel to kill an animal, it's natural in many ways. In nature, there is a food chain and animals pray on eachother to keep the ecosystem in balance. That's just the way it is. So I don't think that-even if we love animals-we should be guilty about eating other animals.

Omg, my dog got skunked! I got home from dance and me and my mom found out she got skunked after my dad let her outside. From the looks of it, she got sprayed right in the face, and she's pacing around, because she doesn't know what to do. It smells more like rotten onions rather than a skunk. Me and my mom could smell the skunk when we got home. I feel so bad for her. We don't know what to do. Is there anything we can do. We're going to try to get her a bath at Petsmart as soon as possible, so don't suggest a bath, it's already being done. Ok thanks!!!! (link)

I have used this product, like a shampoo, that gets rid of the smell. My dog has been skunked a total of 2 times and my mom used something from the local pet store- it worked! You should browse a Petco sometime and find something (sorry, I don't know the name of it). Hopefully, if this was the first time your dog was sprayed, he/she will learn the lesson and not get involved with skunks anymore.

my hamster is 2 years old and i feed her salad every 3rd or 4th day, i noticed yesterday that she has a small bald spot on her back, it seems as if shes losing fur. whats happening to her? (link)

There is a small chance that she has some problems. Sometimes they loose fur and nothing happens. She may be grooming that area too much, it's happened with my hamsters. One hamster will make the other one have bald spots sometimes! I don't think it's serious. You can ask a vet or look it up online if you are still curious.

My hamster died.:( I had him for like 2 years. Thats not the point though. I was thinking about gettting another animal but I dont know what. Cats,dogs,rabbits and any reptiles are just not going to work...should I just get another hamster but that seems like I am just replacing it. Got any suggestions?I love ferrets but I don't have the money for them.

You should feel free to give any sort of pet a home. If you want another hamster, I think it's fine. I NEVER think of it as "replacing" an animal that has passed away- I think of it as giving another animal a home. Hope this helps.

My mouse is obese. I don't know what to do--I put her in an exercise ball and she just sat there (I don't think she knew what to do). I don't want to give her less food because I'm afraid she'll starve. What can I do to make my mouse lose weight? note--I've tried gerbil wheels on other mice, but they sometimes get caught and die so I'm afraid to use it. (link)

There is a possibility she may be pregnant if you just got her recently from the pet store. The stupid people always mix up the males and females. She'll be pregnant if she looks abnormally big around her center. (If you do find babies in the cage some day and don't know how to take care of them etc, ask me anything. I have a lot of experiece with this).
If she's not pregnant:
I'd try watching her diet first (you can look the best diets up on the net). As for exercise, some mice just don't want to exercise and yours may be one of them. As for the gerbil wheel- there are some safer wheels that have no bars on the sides (you can find an example here: http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=8534).
Lastly, if your mouse still doesn't loose weight then it's all genetics and there is nothing you can do (as bad as it sounds). But I have had some obeese mice in the past and they still lived about 2-3 years. :)
