About Daimeera

Hello there!

I'm a 21 year old female from Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm not as active on this site as I once was, but I will almost certainly reply to private questions sent to me.

Let's see, about me. I've been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia Syndrome, Clinical Depression, as well as some other related mental and physical illnesses. Despite this, I'm happier now than I can ever remember being.

I've been a vegan since August 2007. In other words, I do my best not to consume anything of animal origin, ranging from the obvious (meat), to the somewhat obvious (eggs and dairy), to the not-so-obvious (honey, wool, silk, and more). I love this life. I have so much more appreciation for everything and everyone around me, and I feel so at peace with myself and the world. I wake up everyday and know that I'm making a difference. It's been a huge turning point in my life.

I recently graduated from high school after an extra three years due to my illness. It was a long road, but it felt amazing to walk across that stage. An added bonus was having the 15th highest average (over my high school career) out of 258 students!

I intend to pursue a career in psychology, first obtaining my BA, and then attending graduate school in order to study for my PhD. It's a little daunting at times, but I know it will be worth it. I want to help people, plain and simple. I want to make a difference. I want to change the world. And I believe I can, if only in a small way.

I think that's me in a nutshell. I also enjoy writing, knitting, multiple other artistic endeavors (including drawing, photography, music, and more), web design, and many other things. So, feel free to drop me a message if you think there's something I can help with.

Psst, guess what? I, like everyone else, have my very own message board! You can visit it here.

yesterday i went on a 45 minute bike ride... and today my whole vagina/butt area that touches the bike seat is sooo sore and it hurt really bad when i tried to go on a bike ride today.

so should I just stop bike riding? or just ignore it?

Your body isn't used to a bike seat. A gel pad will help. You might have blisters--you never really specified the type of pain, whether it's burning, or aching.

You shouldn't stop entirely. You might want to take a few days off and then when you go back to it, take it easy. Just do ten or even five minutes until you get accustomed to it.

I highly doubt your pain has anything to do with your hymen.

my cat is constantly killing things, bringing them back on my deck, and eating nothing but the BRAINS. while i know its a cats instinct to kill, thats not normal to eat just the brains. in the past two weeks, shes brought back and eaten the brains of 5 chipmonks, 3 baby rabbits, 3 birds, 4 mice, and a mole. and thats only what she brought back. my mom is completely fed up with it becuase she has to clean it up. she told me today that she is going to get rid of her. i begged her not to, and came up with the idea of getting her a collar with a bell on it to warn the animals that shes coming. my mom said that we'll give that a try, but if she finds one more dead animal on our deck, we have to get rid of her. that is the last thing i want to do. what else can i do to cut down on the amount of animals shes killing? i want to try keeping her inside 24/7, but she is outside most of the time when it is warm out, so i dont know how to go about doing this. shes been an outdoor cat for 3 years, so i dont know how to keep her inside. any ways to stop her from bringing the animals back or ideas for keeping her inside will greatly help becuase i realllyyy dont want to get rid of her.

thanks!

You might want to check in with your vet before doing anything else. Eating a certain part of the animal might indicate a nutritional deficiency of some sort.

Regardless, I would recommend keeping her inside. She won't like it at first, but it's a lot safer for her, and for the other animals. The lifespan of an indoor cat is substantially longer than that of an outdoor pet--another good reason to keep her in.

She'll get used to being inside, and although she might try and sneak out, she'll deal with it. Just be careful that she doesn't slip out the door and she should be fine.

Good luck.

I've been getting random bruises lately. Usually on my arms & legs. The other day my parents pointed out that I had a huge bruise on the back of my leg. It's basically as big as a cell phone. It's purpleish & has dots in it so it's obvious that there's a lot of broken blood vessels. I'll also get smaller sized bruises that are greenish/yellow. I usually get those more often. The problem is, I never remember how I get them. When you bruise yourself, especially when it's a huge bruise, you know that you bumped into something or fell. The bruises I get show up randomly. Does anyone get these too or have any idea on why I'm getting them? I haven't been bumping into things or anything weird like that. They are random & I always have at least two. Thanks!!

My best guess would be anemia. But it doesn't matter so much what we think it is; only a doctor can diagnose you. Please see one as soon as you can. As mentioned, it can be an early sign of cancer, or it could be nothing at all. Better to get it checked out right away and set your mind at ease (or, worst case scenario, start treating it).

In the meantime, try not to worry too much.

I have a boyfriend that's 18 who turns 19 in August.And I'm 16 and I turn 17 in October.Would it work out if I was going in Highschool and he went to college in the area.Or do you think he would get tired of me and get someone better who's in college or whatever.Or even I would find someone in highschool.I just want some opinions if you don't mind.

If he chooses to go to college in the area because that's where he wants to be, it's worth pursuing. If he chooses to go to college in the area because he wants to stay with you, I'd be a bit worried.

I know that seems odd because it seems to speak to commitment, but I would be concerned that he might come to resent you for "holding him back," or a similar sentiment. Even if he doesn't want to feel that way, he might not be able to help it. I could see that quickly destroying your relationship.

So, it depends on his motivation for staying near your high school. And it's good that you're considering the possibility that someone else might come along; that's realistic. In the end, it's what you want and what you feel is right.

Good luck.

What advice would you give to the family of a 20-year-old who has just been diagnosed with this disorder?

While I would love to give you advice, you didn't specify which disorder--and I have a few, so I really do need the specification.

There are a few things you can do no matter what the situation--namely, talk to the 20-year-old and ask what SHE (he?) wants you to do. Let her mourn, and encourage her to do so. It's a different kind of mourning, but it is still necessary because you're losing a part of your life.

If you can specify the illness or disorder, I can probably be a lot more help.

16/F
105 lbs/5'4"

I recently came out to my family that I've lost 10 pounds in the last two weeks due to not eating and throwing up when I do eat. Now my parents want to send me to an in-patient facility for rehabilitation. I'm really really scared/angry because I think that I can beat this or figure it out myself with a little help from my family...I'm not even that underweight. I feel like this whole thing is ridiculous and I shouldn't have tol them about it. What should I do? I need to convince them otherwise very soon...

Honestly? I think they're over-reacting.

What you're doing is definitely a problem. I'm certainly not saying it isn't one. But a residential facility for two weeks of disordered eating doesn't make sense to me.

I think you'd be better off seeing a therapist. Tell them that you're committed to stopping this before it gets worse and you're willing to talk to a psychologist to get the help you need. If you can cooperate in your treatment, and genuinely want to nip this in the bud, you'll be able to.

I think you have a problem. I don't think you have an eating disorder--yet. Try to keep it that way, regardless of whether or not you end up in IP treatment (and for what it's worth, I have serious doubts as to whether or not an IP program would actually admit you--usually they only accept people with a substantial history of disordered behaviour; months or years).

I think I'm a lesbian. I've read in the Bible that homosexuality is wrong and that if you commit the sin of homosexuality, the you will be sent to hell. But then in other Bible's, they say it is natural and that God will love you no matter what.What should I belive, that homosexuality is wrong, or that it is natural?

Love, all love, is a beautiful thing. Love between friends, between family, and between romantic partners, whether they be male-female, male-male, or female-female. I have seen it. I've never lived it, but I've seen it and it confirmed what I already know--that nothing so pure could be bad.

God is supposed to be great and wonderful and beyond our comprehension. God created love. God created beauty. I truly believe that He would want you to be happy and to experience that warmth.

There is no reason a just god would send you to hell for feeling something so natural and true. And if God is not a just god, why would He be worthy of worship?

Ultimately, it comes down to what's in your heart. If what you're feeling is pure and genuine, from your soul, then how can it be wrong? It is not destructive. It is not ugly. It just is.

ok i am 14 year old and i am over weight! i wanna know how can i lose weight very quickly. i know that diet and exercise is the best way but i want something faster. are there any pills that i can get from the store or what?? i need help because i really want to lose weight but i want it to be done fast!!!

The faster you lose weight, the more excess skin you'll have.

Slow and steady is better. I totally understand wanting to lose it quickly. But honestly, the best way to do it is through exercise and better eating habits--ones you can sustain. Walk or take up a sport or jog or juggle--something to get you moving. Snack on fruits and veggies and eat whole grains rather than refined (white) grains--they're healthier and more filling. Stick to lean meats. Enjoy your body. If you can learn to really be grateful for what it can do for you, it makes it easier to take care of it. You can walk, you can scratch an itch without thinking about it. You can talk and smile and breathe and your body does it automatically. It's an incredible machine.

Try to respect yourself, and your body will respond. Feed it with good foods, exercise it, and accept it. You'll be happier and healthier.

hi.. so i'm 16/f.. 5'5" and i weigh like 103 pounds.. i know its not overweight or anything but do you think it would be healthy to loose like 8 pounds.. because i don't like how i look in a bathing suit and i wanna be skinnier...

No. You're already substantially underweight. Losing more would be dangerous.

In fact, you'd probably look better if you gained a few pounds. If you genuinely think at 103 pounds and your height that you're overweight, I would suggest talking to your doctor. It's not indicative of a healthy mindset.

im 5"2' and 116 pounds.
i wanna lose weight in a few specific spots.
my underarms (the fat that hangs over tank tops)
my calves & thighs (they are really big)
and my love handles.
please i need to lose the weight fairly quickly.
im desperate ill do anything.
thanks.

You can't spot-reduce. If you want to lose fat, you'll have to burn it all over--you can't control where it comes off. Cardio is your friend. Watch what you eat, but do eat. Run, walk, do something to get moving and you'll start to burn fat.

There is no magic potion.

my doctor says im underweight on charts and really overweight. 13/f 5'4 110 . my stomach is just fat. i do not look fat at all with clothes on but in a swimsuit or nothing over my stomach its just fat. he says to cal up and just to exercise. i eat alot well closer to normal. i run. my 2 bffs agree whats wrong so its not just me.
what exercises do i do?
im really confused im really underweight?
with a fat stomach and obese?
i dont wana be anorexic i just want a flat stomach mines plain fat and sick?
is there something wrong with mee?

You need to be asking these questions to your doctor. Your weight is under what it should be for your height, and the fact that you don't recognise that is problematic. If you cannot gain weight because you fear you're already fat, you need to talk to someone who can help you reassess your body.

Talk to your doctor some more about your concerns. Be specific about how you feel and ask for more specific tips on what to do. He's the only one who can give you prudent medical attention.

Im mormon. I can't wear shorts/skirts/dresses clothes above the knee. But all my other mormon friends wear them. Its ah-nnoying!! I really want to wear them because I feel left out and not pretty. i have such pretty legs and body its just how can I wear short skirts?? What should I do?? Thats why I hate summer. Im jealous I just cant stand girls wearing them and NOT me. HELP!!
:(

Do what you feel in your heart is right, and allow them the freedom to do the same. If you believe that your religion is correct and that wearing shorter clothing is immodest and against your code of ethics, don't do it. If you disagree, then wear what you want to wear.

Ultimately, it comes down to what's in your heart, not what other people do, or say you should do.

I need some REALLY good chicken recipes [I have chicken breast],
I don't know what to do with it. I've tried a lot.
I just want something that tastes good, is easy to make, and one that you need basic ingredients for.

PLEASE help. :)

Thanks

My favourite? Soak it in Kraft Italian Salad Dressing.

I use the stuff with only 5 calories, marinate the chicken in it for about ten minutes, no more than fifteen or it'll start going weird (usually cut in small pieces), and then toss it all in the frying pan until it's cooked. Takes about fifteen minutes to cook, and it tastes great, plus it's very low-calorie.

I know it sounds a little weird, but it's excellent.

why do girls shake their legs?
im sitting in class and im looking around and five of he girls in my class arre shaking their legs really fast
why do they do this?

I do it if I'm nervous, bored, or if I want to burn calories. Fidgeting DOES burn calories and can occasionally be a sign of an eating disorder . . . but not in and of itself, only when combined with many other things.

Sorry if this is kind of akward, but how did you lose 80 pounds?

I exercised, and watched what I ate. Mind you, I took it too far, but I would have lost the weight even if I'd done it in a healthier way (and I probably wouldn't be stuck with extra skin right now).

Exercise was definitely a major component. I deal with chronic pain, so it was really difficult sometimes, but it's helping me a lot. It's made me stronger, which decreases the pain, and it gets me out of the house. It also gives me time to think and be by myself. Besides, it just plain feels good--I have self-esteem problems, admittedly, but when I walk, I like my body. I can feel what it's doing for me.

Watching what I eat--I got that right at first. My first 30 pounds or so were based solely on exercise and eating right. I took in about 1500 calories, in lean meats, veggies, fruits, and healthy carbs. My body appreciated it.

I did make the mistake of taking it too far. I've dealt with depression for many years, and had one previous bout with an (undiagnosed) eating disorder. The tendency was already there, and I got complacent about it. As a result, it will likely be difficult for me to maintain my weight loss. So please, if you're looking to lose weight, don't make the mistake I did.

I was on the right track at first. That's the way I should have kept doing it, and that's the right way to go about losing the weight. Lifestyle changes, exercise, eating healthy foods. Simple as that.

And sorry, that was sporadic and random, but I feel the need to once again caution against heavy restriction.

does guilt have anything to do with why girls might not eat what they would like to? i'm a guy and don't get this idea of cutting calories like crazy. i'm curious to know if things have always been this way or if it is just a craze. it bothers me to hear some of my friends that are girls talk about ways to burn calories and other stuff. i don't have a problem with that at all, but lately its all i hear my friends and even my family talk about. what is the big deal and what do i say to my friends if they bring it up with me?

Here's the thing--I'm recovering from an eating disorder. It's hard for me to say it because it feels foreign, but it's the truth anyway. So I get the mindset.

For me, and I'm not everyone, it was about control. I have a history of binging and ended up quite obese because of it. I was sick of feeling out of control and it felt like the only way I could get those cravings back under my control was to simply stop making decisions--I decided I would eat only what I absolutely had to, and nothing more. It worked, but it also made me lose hair, and probably screw up my body in other ways (I'm still too chicken to actually get tested for bone mass, etc.).

I'm an extreme case. A lot of girls simply want to fit into a size six because they think it's attractive. Counting calories helps them lose the weight, or maintain. That's okay to a certain degree, but when it becomes an obsession, there's a problem.

There isn't that much you really can say. If someone obsesses a lot and you rarely see them eating, you might try telling them you're a bit worried. If they do have a genuine problem, it might be a wake-up call.

If I can help you with any other questions, this is, unfortunately, one area with which I have experience.

okay, so my dentist has tons of computers in her offfice and i accidently forgot to sign myself off aim. ive been on for like days there and im afraid someone will hack into my screenname.

is there any possible way to sign off on that computer besides going back there.

thanks :)

Signing onto AIM on a different computer should sign you out of it on the first. However, if you set it to save your password on the other one, you might be out of luck--someone could easily log in at any time. If that happened, I believe you can change your password and it will NOT change on the computer until you sign in on that computer.

I'm only about 95% sure about this, though, so you might want to do some heavy duty googling/reading the FAQ for AIM.

i am a 15 year old girl. I have liked this one guy for about like since 6th grade and now i am going to be a freshmen...so about 4 years. well we always flirt and like hold hands or are really close to each other. he was a girlfriend but he wants to do IT with me. We meet at his locker all the time during class to talk about it. So friday i went to his locker like he told me. I was nervous even though i realy would love to kiss him. he was saying how he thought i like him and i told him i do but what about your gf, he told me that she didnt have to know. We were standing there and i a thinking what if i made the first move? He didnt think i was enthusiastic this time, because this has happened before him asking me to hook up with him. should i make the first move? if so where, how should i tell him that i want to hook up. should i call him and ask him to meet me somewhere?

~~~~~BINDY~~~~~
No way! He has a girlfriend, and do you really want to be the other girl?
Honestly, if you think she would believe you, tell her everything you wrote here. It's not fair to her, and she deserves to know the truth.
You'll only regret hooking up with him, and he'll almost certainly break your heart--after using you.
How can I make slideshows, like the ones you'd find on youtube, that go along with a song? Not like the ones you'd find on myspace or photobucket... I wanted to make one for my friend, but I'm not sure I have the program to do it...
I'll rate. =D
If you're using Windows XP or later, you should have a program called Windows Movie Maker on your computer. It should work for what you want, and it's fairly simple to learn how to use.
my dog is thorwing up bright red blood what is the problem
You need to see a vet NOW. Throwing up blood is a pretty obvious signal that something is wrong, and no one here can diagnose it, nor can we fix it.
Please, for the sake of your dog, get to the vet.
