my cat is constantly killing things, bringing them back on my deck, and eating nothing but the BRAINS. while i know its a cats instinct to kill, thats not normal to eat just the brains. in the past two weeks, shes brought back and eaten the brains of 5 chipmonks, 3 baby rabbits, 3 birds, 4 mice, and a mole. and thats only what she brought back. my mom is completely fed up with it becuase she has to clean it up. she told me today that she is going to get rid of her. i begged her not to, and came up with the idea of getting her a collar with a bell on it to warn the animals that shes coming. my mom said that we'll give that a try, but if she finds one more dead animal on our deck, we have to get rid of her. that is the last thing i want to do. what else can i do to cut down on the amount of animals shes killing? i want to try keeping her inside 24/7, but she is outside most of the time when it is warm out, so i dont know how to go about doing this. shes been an outdoor cat for 3 years, so i dont know how to keep her inside. any ways to stop her from bringing the animals back or ideas for keeping her inside will greatly help becuase i realllyyy dont want to get rid of her.
Regardless, I would recommend keeping her inside. She won't like it at first, but it's a lot safer for her, and for the other animals. The lifespan of an indoor cat is substantially longer than that of an outdoor pet--another good reason to keep her in.
She'll get used to being inside, and although she might try and sneak out, she'll deal with it. Just be careful that she doesn't slip out the door and she should be fine.

I hope you figure something out, i know i wouldn't want to give my cat up either

Uhm, my advice is that if this behavior continues... try to keep her/him in a cage? NOT a mean evil big bad cage. Like, a cat room thing. A cute cat house that would keep her safe and secure. A playpen perhaps? Something that won't let your cat out to go .. brain hunting. Haha. I must say, this was rather funny but in a serious way, I think you should restrain your cat in a good home. I'm not saying you should keep it in a torture chamber, but a good home, you know? :) I hope my advice helps. Take care!! :D [ coolwater's advice column | Ask coolwater A Question ]
