Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

Im thirteen and I have babysat my younger sister and some kids down the street once, also my cousin who is four but i dont see her much. Anyways, I have given out flyers and stuff about a hundred times and noone will respond and noone will let me babysit. It s not like im a bad sitter or anything because ive only babysat those kids down the street and they had alot of fun and nothing went wrong. I dont get allowance and I cant get a job for a couple more years. I petsit but very rarely, and I dont have any money at all except for whats in the bank and Im saving that for college. Does anyone have ideas for jobs I could do or ways I can advertise my babysitting more?

Are you in high school yet? No, probably not. But once you get into high school, if your school offers parenting and child development as a class, sign up for it. Once some of my neighbors found out that I took that course they liked the idea of hiring me better. I've been babysitting since I was about 13 and I'm 15 now. But if you take classes like that, or if you go to a local YMCA and take CPR and babysitting certification classes, parents REALLY like that. Also get to know the children in the neighborhood, or at least their parents. The reason I started getting calls to babysit is probably because when all the neighbors were outside I played with their little kids rather than the children close to my age. Parents just like stuff like that.


Uhh, pretty much you just have to get to know the parents and kids in the area and then when they get comfortable around you, and the kids are comfortable around you, suggest they go do something nice together and you'll watch the kids for a few hours. Ya know, something like that.
It may take a while, but it's worth it. And since summer is coming up, you'll get more and more babysitting offer. Though if other people in the area babysit too it may be hard to get these jobs. Especially because parents tend to go for the older teens to babysit instead of the younger ones.

There is always that possibility I suppose. I wouldn't know because I've never taken birth control, nor have I had sex and had to take a pregnancy test. That is something you should speak with your gyno about. Or just head down to your local health department where they give information about situations like yours. I'm not sure, but they might even have free pregnancy tests.

hi i've found a bunch of RANDOM unwanted clothes in my closet (a denim jacket, a cheap renasance dress costume, silver sequin gaucho pants thing, a mini tennis skirt type thing(gray).....) what are some good ideas of what i could do with these?

Well, if you can sew, you can do something crazy and make something you want/need/like out of them. Like you could make a purse or something. That's always fun.

Or of course if you don't have any use for them then you can just bring them down to your closest Goodwill (or Salvation Army) who sells the stuff cheap (or gives it to homeless people)

Honestly though, how many people do you really think are going to stay virgins until they're married. Most of my friends have had sex, heck I'm going to my friends baby shower in about 2 months, but a lot of people like the thought of being someone else's first, it's comforting, and it's cool to know that they waited for you. Don't you think? Even in the least bit.

If you are worried that you're "too innocent" even though there really isn't such a thing, then take a in depth health class or visit your local health department to catch up on some of the things you must have missed over the years.

But seriously, my opinion, be an unconformist, don't follow the croud unless that is the path you truly want to take. (totally made that up in english class today... that was part of my thesis statement on a promp)

Anyway, just an opinion, you don't have to follow it, but do what you want to do, not what somebody else wants you to do.

Heyy kate its your coolest cousin bree! ha whats up? i looked in your profile and saw this i thought it looked cool! ha well i need some advice. me and my best friend like this guy alot.But he likes our other best friend. well he is like one of my really good guy friends as well as my two friends. well the girl he likes is always flirting with him even though she says she doesnt like him. she basicly leads him on to nothing of the sort. Your birthday and cake. Somehow, with all of the family issues going on, I forgot about the birthdays. This will be the first birthday we don't spend together if our family doesn't make up... in my opinion, and I don't know the details, we are apart of a stupid family who is fighting over a stupid issue... and UGH, we're going to NY for Easter AGAIN!! I HATE that drive from here!!!

Aww crap, I usually check this before school, apparantly I let time get to crazy, I have about 10 more minutes to get ready for school and I still have to do my makeup, brush my hair and teeth, and I was going to straighten my hair, but it takes my stupid straightener 10 minutes just to heat up...

Honestly, I've done it like a bajillion times, yet I still can't figure that out. Maybe if you set your age to 15, and then it may go automatically private (if not, then to 14) and then it will show you options like making your myspace private to anyone under 18 and stuff like that (that would be under privacy settings, which is under account setting, which is on the main page next to your picture).

If not, then the one person that would be able to help you is Mackenzie. She's waay better at myspace then I am.

Well a 3 is a B, and a 4 is perfect (unless your in honors classes then it's an A and if AP classes it's a B)

So it kind of depends on what classes you're taking, but it can be anywhere from a B+ to an A-

Okay the worst possible thing is for you to like your best friends boyfriend. Well my best friend likes this guy and well he likes her..but every time he ask's her out she says no.. i dont blame her though she cant have a serous relationship with any guy cause she goes to the beach alot and flirts with other guys. Well me and him have got alot closer as friends because my bff and him have a thing i guess. well let me state some things that have happened over the last couple weekends
* he asked me to go to a party with him as a bff since we both didnt have dates
*we had alot of fun and flirted everypne said
* my friend got really mad at me for not telling her i was going with him we got in a major fight
*I now have a big big crush on the boy and he knows now
Now the most annoying thing ever is when we are all togther as friends my bff will totally ignore him and hang out with other guys she says " he is acting weird and wont talk to me" when really she wont talk to him.. then he says she wont talk to me. i pretty much think they are gay. but i like the boy alot alot and i can tell he purposly does stuff and flirts with me to get my bff jelous. and it makes me want to crush even harder.

Well I'm kind of confused, but this seems like an odd situation to be in. If he likes her, but flirts with you to make her jealous, then the relationship between you and him just wouldn't work out. He'd only be using you. Plus it might mess up your relationship with you friend. I'd rather have a good friend than a relationship with a guy that just won't last, especially at your age. I'm assuming you're young because of the way you type (not saying that you type bad) It just seems like you're no older than 14 or 15. Sorry if I'm wrong, but I don't recall you stating your age.
Anyway, if there are any more details I should know, drop another one in the inbox.

EKKK... well i had my period for a while but i finally used tampoons because my friends encouraged me too..so i did today and when iw as trying to get it out..lol it hurt so bad i thought i died. should i give up on them?

Only if you're truly afraid it would hurt that bad next time.
Did it hurt when you put it in? Maybe it was inserted incorrectly, but most likely it would have hurt like heck if that had happened.

I say try once more, if it still really hurts to get out, maybe you should just give up for now and try again in a few months.

Whorring can mean telling everyone to add a certain somebody, telling everyone to add you, or adding everyone your friends have even if you don't know them.

Whorring is when you try to get as many people as you can to add yourself and others, stuff like that. It's a pathetic way to make people think you have a bunch of friends. Honestly, if you don't ever talk to the person, what's the point of having them. I have a few people I used to talk to but don't anymore, but honestly, what's the point? Whorring is stupid, but even some people I know and have as friends are myspace whores. There are even advicenators whores as annoying as that is, but that's a banable offense on this site.... but I hope I helped to clear that up for you.

Ok...today has been pretty much the worst day ever...I cmae hoem from scholl and all of a sudden my dad sais we're moving to NC in August! I can't believe it! I had a really rough year last year..and my friends have truly become my heart..if it werent for them I honestly woudl nto be the person i am now...they have always been there for me...and I just cant imagine not having them in my everyday life. Not to mention...Im afaraid that my school in NC will be segregated and recist..I'm white and i can not stand racism...i like all typ3s of guys..and thinking about being shunned if I like a black guy really pisses me off! Im so sad and I was ballign to my best friend earlier...it's so surreal..i just wish soemoen would wake me up from this nightmare! Please, how can I handle this?

Okay, well first off, I live in NC, I moved here from NY a few years ago, and I'm white, and the schools are so NOT racist. Most of my white friends are dating black guys, so I'm not sure where you got your idea that we're all racist, but hey, we're not! There are some people that still think racistly, but unless you go to an all black school (yes, they do have those) you'll be fine. I think I have more colored friends than I do white (that includes all races, I have asian friends, african american friends, native american friends, all sorts). So yeah, when I read the racism thing it just kind of made me mad.

What part are you moving to? Where are you moving from? Is it still possible to visit your friends? We go back to NY at least once a year and me and my sister visit usually visit this one girl that used to live up the street from us, Katelyn. It isn't that bad to have to move, it takes some getting used to, but maybe if you and all of your friends have a myspace or xanga you can still keep in touch a whole lot. Maybe plan a trip back to wherever you're from duringt he summer and just stay with one of them for a week or something.

I'm currently expecting my first child and my due date is fast approaching. I recently told my husband that I'm hurt that no one has offered to throw a baby shower even though everyone around us (family, friends, coworkers, church members) knows that we are expecting. He said that I should throw a baby shower for myself. I'm afraid that it would be a breach of etiquette and come across as greedy. With our current financial situation, the gifts would be helpful, but I want the shower more for the companionship and celebration that comes with it.
1) Would you consider it greedy if someone were to invite you to a baby shower they were throwing for themself?
2) What would you do in this situation?

They might just be throwing you a surprise baby shower, you never know. My mom, sister, and I are all invited to a surprise baby shower for our neighbor, her husband is the one who invited us, but I know a baby shower is like an all girl thing, so I doubt he's the only person involved. Then again, if your husband said to throw a shower for yourself, there must not be a surprise. How about having you husband talk to a friend as if he wasnted to throw you a suprise shower... that way it doesn't come across as you throwing one, but your husband wanting to do something special for you.

You can link screen names if your version of AIM offers it (which I think all versions offer it). What you do is go to "My AIM" at the top, the 3rd option down (at least on mine) says "Manage Linked Screen names" Click that. Then it will give you the option to link/unlink screen names. Click that, sign in with the one that you want to link . I think you can only link 1 at a time, but I have 6 different screen names linked right now, and whenever I have friends over we usually link them.

You have to sign off and then back on to make them link though. But if that doesn't work for you, inbox me and I'll try to help more.

Best thing you can do is:
1) E-mail DangerNerd

2) Change your password, don't give it to anybody (or make it too obvious) and always log out after using the site. That way nobody else can use your account. That could be dangerous to the site especially if it's somebody under the age of 13.

Charging more is a sure fire way to make more money while babysitting. If it's only 1 kid, then $5 an hour is the perfect amount. If it's 2-3 kids then $7 an hour is decent, if it's more than 3 kids you should be getting about $10 an hour. I should really learn to follow what I'm saying, I just let people pay what they want. I get $10 an hour from people with one kid, and $5 an hour from people with 3 kids... messed up.

Anyway, you can also put up fliers saying that you babysit. If you aren't already certified, then go through the classes to get you certified. Become certified for CPR and important precautions like that. Also, if you take parenting classes the clients (parent) think a whole lot better of you and may pay you more. This one lady used to pay me $5 an hour until she found out that I took a parenting class in school (and plan on taking some others next year)

Befriend the children of the neighborhood and stuff like that, parents really like a babysitter that their kids adore! Remember that, and don't be afraid to ask for a few extra dollars if the kids were just horrible or something of the such. Be assertive, but friendly at the same time. Good luck.

That's right, the retarded science fair is soon and I don't have a project. I'm 15, and in grade 10 and I need a biology-related project. Does anyone know where I can even start?

You can take your own DNA, or a banana's DNA. We did it in class, it was sooo much fun, especially because we got to put food coloring into it and make it into necklaces. You can try to google search how to do it, but if you can't find a way to do it I can try and get my bio teacher to tell me step by step. Just remind me by asking a question to the inbox because I have the worst memory ever........

It's so totally normal to get that. It's called discharge and you can get it anywhere from a day to a year before you start your period.

If you don't want it in your underwear (because, well, it's gross and it can smell bad) then you can buy pantyliners, or even deoderized pantyliners to hide the smell. Don't get all paranoid thinking that everyone can smell you, because unless your legs are spread and somebody's head is really close, it's not really that noticable... but yeah, it's just discharge.

I love reading romantic books. Like teen ones, that are simple but really cute. I just read guitar highway rose, and i loved it. DOes anyone know any books like that? That are romantic but easy to understand?

Anything by Nicholas Sparks. He's like my favorite author ever. I LOVED his book "The Rescue" and his book"At First Sight" was good too, the other in the sequal was just as great!
