about

Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?
Makeup, skincare, and psychology are my passions and I'm also happy to give advice on relationships, particularly for teenagers (so many things I wish I could have told myself a decade ago!) I'm happy to help fellow abuse survivors as well.
I'm a diehard SF Giants fan and also enjoy watching the Sharks and Niners. Addicted to music, especially The Gaslight Anthem. Oh, and my name is Krista. :)

Well I had an interview at Sears last Tuesday. I thought it went pretty well for my first interview. Well the woman said I probably wouldn't hear back from then until about a week of the day I applied because the lady who would hire me was on vacation at the moment and the woman that interviewed me was about to go on vacation. Well i still haven't heard anything from them, so what should I do? I really want this job, should I call them?

You don't want to sit around and wait for them to call.

Generally speaking, you're supposed to send a thank-you note after the interview. However, since it's just Sears, it might be okay.

I'd call them, ask to speak to the manager, tell them that you had an interview and you were supposed to hear back. Just wondering if they had any openings, etc.

Just waiting around won't set you apart from the other people applying.

when i wake up my stomach hurts so much

This isn't technically a question, but I'll answer anyway...

Probably just hunger. Try drinking water before bed and as soon as you wake up, having a good, filling breakfast.

- I've heard Legally Blonde The Musical and Jersey Boys are good.

- And, of course, A Chorus Line. It's a classic.

what's a good shampoo/conditioner hair product?

I've heard these work good-

Herbal essences
dove
sunsilk
fructis
suave

My friend said that pantene actually makes your hair worse and fall out!!!

if you can, please rate how well each hair product i've mentioned is. thanks

Herbal Essences- only okay. Makes your hair smells good but doesn't do much else.

Dove- not very good, cheap.

Sunsilk- haven't tried it but have heard good things about it.

Garnier Fructis- I like it, but it's not good for oily hair. Their Long and Strong line works really well.

Suave- not good, about as cheap as you can get. Dries out hair a lot.

I love the shampoos and conditioners Bath and Body Works sells. They're cheap (especially since the summer sale is happening right now) and come in all kinds of yummy scents. I love Mango Mandarin and Grapefruit.

Lay 'em on me girls! I want all your beauty tips - no matter how weird! Of course the guys can help too, but I though this would be more up the girls' alley!

What I mean is - I recently found out how amazing you look after tanning, or what a HUGE difference tweezing your eyebrows make! And if someone would have just told me this sooner I could have saved myself a lot of tears, i look 10 times better now and in 10 days I've gotten more boys than I ever have in my life! (i used to be bullied, boys wouldn't even look my way!)

So help me - tell me what you've got?! Any discoveries that completely changed your life (or atleast your look!) ?

Thank you! It could be anything from eye-make up to ... well, anything really. Haha :)

Thank you and have a good summer!

- The right color of blush makes an amazing difference. It makes you look prettier and more awake if applied with a large, poofy blush brush.

- Having your hair done makes a huge difference. At the very least blowdry it.

- For pimples, Clear and Clear Advantage Invisible Spot Treatment makes a huge difference.

- Lip gloss also makes a huge difference. Find a cute, subtle color and the difference will be hueg.

- Black eyeliner looks good on no one. I repeat, no one. Try dark brown or lining your eyes with shadow instead.

- Whiter teeth really do make a huge difference. Try Crest Whitestrips.

- Brush your hair. Often. Even if you don't think you need to, it makes it look shinier and healthier.

- A super-light cream eyeshadow, applied on your browbone and inner corners of your eyes, opens them up.

- Always carry around lotion.

- For an even skin tone without wearing tons of makeup, try tinted moisturizer. Covergirl makes a great one.

- Curling your eyelashes really does make them look longer.

- Perfume makes a difference in small amounts. Try Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace, it's subtle.

- Always carry around a powder compact and powder brush for a shiny nose (don't apply with the little pad it comes with).

im trying to compile some music which is up tempo and easy to dance or run to.listening to music while trying to get fit really helps so it has to be up beat and make me want to run dance etc.

If you have Itunes...

Go to Podcasts and search for Podrunner, then click Subscribe- it's free. Every week this guy posts a new hour or longer techno/dance mix for running. They're all different and have different beats per minute, there's a short intro at the beginning but no ads. Every week you get a new one. You can listen to it on Itunes or put it on your Ipod or Mp3 player.

okay my first question...
Why are the moderators on this webite so rude?
and
My next question...
How was more helpfully to the world?
Princess Diana or Mother Thersea (sp?)?
Also which ones death was more tragic???
Thanks

Cody*

EDIT:
I hate to say this, but the moderator who wrote that is right. You're not supposed to post rhetorical questions or comments because you're not asking for advice, you're just complaining. And in the guidelines for writing a question, it says:
"One topic per question, please. If you're wondering how to make enchilladas and how to tell your boyfriend you're cheating on him, ask two different questions. "
You definitely didn't follow that rule.
You also repost questions, which is against the rules. In your question, you asked for opinion- you got it in the email. They just answered your question and didn't do anything wrong. Lately you've been posting a lot of repeated questions and stuff like this. Sorry, the mod was mostly right.

In general the moderators of this site are not rude. They might not kiss your butt, but they do what's best for the site.
Just to let you know your question probably will be deleted soon, since questions like these tend to get rated down.
Provide one specific example of how the moderators are rude and I might actually listen.

Mother Theresa was a lot more helpful to the world. Princess Diana did try, but Mother Theresa left a normal life behind to live with poor people and attempt to help them. Princess Diana did all she could in her position, but in the end, she only really donated money. Mother Theresa's death was more tragic because rarely does a person so selfless and giving come along.

I really like these 2 guys and they like me but I can't decide which one to go out with:

A: Athletic, popular, preppy, my neighbor, REALLY funny, nice, his mom is friends with my mom, and really cute.

B: respectful, nice, anti-prep, into hunting, trucks, and violence, gets into a LOT of fights, "tough guy", and also really cute.

I know it's my choice but I want some input from others. Please try not to put just boy a or boy b. Give me your thoughts on them.

Guy B sounds too rough. Guys who are into violence, hunting, and fights aren't a great idea.

I'd go with A. He sounds really nice, nothing negative, while almost everything about B is negative.

Everyone says i need to change how i look to get a guy. But i dont know how....Even my family says that and i cant really change becuz i have no money. So i dont know what to do..... Can anyone like put some kewt outfits together and show me them or sumthing....because i want to find a new bf....But i dont know how to get a guy to like me without changing!

You probably don't need to change all that much.

The main is looking put-together. Clothes that fit, not wearing the same things over and over again, decent shoes. Doing your hair, even just blowdrying and straightening helps. Makeup, but natural makeup. A little eyeliner, blush, lipgloss and you're set. Getting a cute haircut might help.

CUTE OUTFITS
Plaid shorts, tank top, flip flops
Sundress and croppped denim jacket
Bermuda shorts, graphic tee, flats
Knee-length flowy skirt, graphic tee

My mom is 81 years old. My mom doesnt think people should ask for advice online, but I
think people should ask for advice online. Why does my mom feel this way? And if she
doesnt like these online advice websites do you think it should mar how I feel about the
advice I get (which I love). I mean shouldnt I just go by the advice (which makes me feel
good) I get and ignore her comments.

Since your mom is older, she probably doesn't understand the internet. My mom is 47 and doesn't understand it, since she didn't grow up with it. Your mom probably doesn't understand that sometimes asking strangers for advice can be easier.

If you like it, don't worry about what she thinks. My mom bugs me all the time about being on Advicenators.

Can you swim with contacts in??? because im going swimming tomorrow.. and i really dont want to not be able to see anything.. because ill be hanging out with my friends. and i want to be abloe to see clearly. thanks in advance!

You can, but you probably shouldn't. If you open your eyes underwater, your contact can fall out and get lost- I've had this happen to me several times. Also it can burn very badly.

I got a bank teller job and you have to dress up, what are some good ideas? and I have long thick hair whats some good ways to do my hair that look professional?

You'll probably want to buy some clothes, or at least make sure you have:
- 3-5 nice pairs of pants, striped or plain, in neutral colors (tweed, brown, gray, black, navy blue)
- Close-toed, comfy heels
- Flats
- Blouses- at least 2- some patterned, some plain
- High-cut camisoles
- Cropped sweaters
- Regular sweaters
- Nice, knee-length or longer, skirt
- Pantyhose (sounds weird, but most workplaces require them)
- Modest, nice dress
Outfit examples:
Grey pants, collared shirt, fitted sweater, heels
Dress, cropped sweater, flats
Blouse, skirt, heels

Depending on how much you'll be working, you might not need all of those, it's just a suggestion.

Remember that almost all workplaces place a LOT of emphasis on modesty. No open-toed shoes, make sure your blouses don't gap, shirts are high-cut, etc. (I learned that the hard way!)

Jewelry, if worn, should be small and simple: a small pair of stud earrings OR necklace, etc.

As for your hair, it depends how good you are at styling it. You could blowdry and straighten it and just wear it down, but a bun is the most professional opinion (buy lots of bobby pins). You could also straighten it and do half up half down.

I know that leggings and short denim skirts have been a trend and probably are still a trend for some people. I wear leggings whenever I wear a short skirt because they're just more comfortable. I don't have to worry about my skirt lifting up when I wear leggings. But... is this look still in style? I saw a whole bunch of people wearing it at my school and this year at my school, but ever since my friend said it looked tacky I've been noticing less people wearing it these days. I still wear it. I just don't want to look like an unfashionable weirdo. Is this look still "in" at your school? Tell me what you think.

That look's been "out" for about a year or so at my school. (Medium sized town in CA, somewhat large high school). People still wear it every once in a while, but it's not really in style.

Black leggings and denim skirt is just overdone. If you're gonna do leggings and a skirt, do something different.
EX
Camo skirt and black leggings
Black skirt and red leggings
Knee length, light colored, flowy skirt and grey leggings
White skirt and white leggings

Also, try to avoid wearing flats or converse with them, instead try heels, flip flops, wedges, etc.

are freckles harmless or are they a sign of sun damage?

Well, technically they are harmless.

However, both freckles and tans are a sign of sun damage. People who are prone to freckles tend to be more prone to sun damage and skin cancer.

My friend Peggy was out sick for two days in a row with food poisoning. When Peggy
came back to work she met Tania by the ladies room at 9AM. Tania said; girl you are
skinny, you lost weight. Peggy thought Tania was implying that Tania never thought
Peggy was skinny before her two day illness (everyone is always telling Peggy she is
skinny - all of her). Anyway around 3PM Peggy was in Tania’s office and Peggy asked
Tania did Tania think that Peggy still looked sick and does Tania think Peggy look pale.
Tania said Peggy you do look pale. Then Peggy said to Tania did Tania think Peggy looks
drawn like Tania told Peggy earlier. And Tania said she didnt say that. What Tania said
she said was that Peggys face looked like it lost weight and when one isnt smiling and one
looks pale their face looks thinner. That night Peggy called me on the telephone and told
me the story and asked me was Tania implying that she never thought Peggy was skinny
before her two day illness. And I told Peggy that Tania wasnt saying that at all, all Tania
said was that Peggys face looked skinnier. My Question: Did I give the right answer

If you insist on posting these questions, using normal spacing and stop using 3rd person- it's really confusing.

Tania didn't mean Peggy wasn't skinny before, all that she meant is that Peggy lost weight. Take things at face value, overanalyzing doesn't help.

You gave the right answer.

my best friend is mentally challended, and has accidentally killed a young women. if i turn him in he will spend the rest of his life in a mental hospital where he will probably live a sad and fearful life. but if i run away with him he might do the same to someone esle and this would make me an accessory to a crime and both of us will be fugitives of the law-- wanted for murder. but if i kill him i will spare my friend the pain of living a cruel existence in a mental hospital. he is my only friend and i will not see him get hurt what should i do.

Assuming you're writing a book...you write like a writer...but i'll answer this in case.

Mental hospitals are actually not that bad nowadays. If you run away with him, what's to stop him from killing you? If you are caught, you will be in jail for the rest of your life. Not worth it at all.

Regardless of being mentally challenged or if it's an "accident", killing is WRONG. No matter who the person is, they cannot go free. Your friend needs a lot of help and treatment which only a mental hospital can provide.
