What does a moderator do?

Also, how do you become a moderator?

A level one moderator just rates questions. I'm one, and you have to meet certain requirements to be one. See them listed here.

A level two moderator can see who asked what questions. But they only pick them out of some level one moderators and you have to rate questions like crazy to get there. There are only 7 (currently) on this website. If you're level two, you can suspend an account for up to five days. But only a level 3 moderator can restore an account. There are only 2 level 3 moderators and 2 level 4 moderators. I don't think any of us will be level 4. Ever. Trust me. You can learn more here.

Much Luck.

Mackenzie answered Thursday June 21 2007, 3:47 pm:
Basically, there are three levels of Moderators; 1, 2, and 3. Level 1 Moderators have the ability to rate questions on a scale from 1 to 3, three being an excellent question, and one being something that is harmful, very poorly written or painfully common. Level 1 Moderators take part in helping to ensure that Advicenators is a website worth coming back to.

Level 2 Moderators have a little bit more privileges. They go through Abuse Reports and register temporary account suspensions, approve questions, and delete questions. It's more difficult to become a Level 2, as there is a limited number of them, and they are assigned as needed.

Moderators are there to make sure the site rules aren't breached - and if they are to amend/delete the post and possibly discipline the user.

If you look through the help/FAQ section then you will see the site rules, and there should be a "how do I become a moderator" question, which links you to an application form I believe.
