Q: so my hair is naturally straight. [i'm asian] & it doesn't really get a lot of volume. so what are some tips or products that i can get to give my hair long lasting volume. nothing to expensive but also nothing cheap that only keeps it volumized for a couple of hours. also my hair always has that split in the middle and i absolutely hate it! when i run my fingers through my hair, it still ends up splitting right in the middle.how can i keep it from splitting and just connecting together? thanks!
My hair is the same way. Nothing really helps my hair. Usually I blow-dry my hair upside down and that helps with the width. Products do almost nothing. I think the longer your hair (mine is super long) the more it looks flat on the top of your head because it's carrying more weight and gravity makes it fall... if it's heavy it will weight down and look limp. I notice that people with short hair look like they have more volume. Products you can try, they might work for you.

I quote: "Use root volumizers: These are products designed to lift hair at the scalp. They come in gel, mousse and spray versions, and you place the product directly at the roots of towel-dried hair, lifting hair with your fingers as you apply." For after you have washed your hair.

You can try using a volumizing shampoo and/or conditioner like Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo or Dove Extra Volume Shampoo and Conditioner.

Q: I have long layered hair that is stick strait! I was wondering how i could get a little curl with the layers to make my hair softer adn cuter. I dont have alot of time to do my hair so is there some sort of spray or shampoo that i can use in my hair to give it more of a wave/curl.

kinda like this

http://www.beautifulhairstyles.com/wavy/evalongoria.html
My hair is extremely straight. Hairsprays to hold curls in place don't exactly help because they don't hold for long. I don't know of a good spray or shampoo but I have found that hot rollers do the trick a little better than curling irons but the best way to have your curls last longer is to sleep with curlers in like this: http://www.stoptheride.net/2007/03/rag-rolling-to-curl-hair.html. Also..I plan on getting a perm/semi-perm in case that helps.

Q: A while ago something asked a question about flirting and a columnist responded with a website that had advice by category (answered by 1 girl) and a page with links to different flirting tips articles.

I tried searching for the question, and I tried googling the website to no avail. Please, does anyone remember?
I think I might have answered a question like that! I don't remember all the individual links but you can search my column if you like. The sites are:

Q: Has anyone seen this movie? At the ending are they back together or is he imaginining things or what? Because I really don't get it..
This question has been here for quite a while. I think it would be better if you take this to a movie forum, like here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0432290/

Q: I start driver's ed soon & I was wondering if anyone knows what you actually do?? It's 30 hours classroom time & 6 hours on the road. Obviously on the road, they teach you how to drive & get practice in. What do you do during class though?? Is it all lecture or is there activities?? Anyone take driver's ed?? Thanks!!
I don't know what school you go to, but here in my school it's neither lecture nor activities. It is the most boring class ever. All we do is take tests/quizzes after we watch videos on driving safety. That's all. Then we have to go out when we are 16 to get our permit after we get the 6 hours of driving instruction (that's not a part of our school's driving education program) from some other driving school. In the 6 hours, yeah, that's where you actually go behind the wheel. In the classroom they teach you how to drive theoretically, so you learn the rules before getting on the road.

Q: my nose is a bit big..
ive heard theres a trick to highlighting the outsides around your nose or something to make it appear smaller....

does anyone have any ideas?
When doing corrective makeup, especially on your nose, always use a subtlte touch when highlighting and shading, as you don't want the shading to be too dark or it will be too obvious.

For shading you have two options - depending on the type of foundation you are using.

Cream foundations: use a shade or two darker in a creamy foundation or concealer, and apply as part of your "base" makeup; this method is easy to blend into your foundation with a sponge, flat rectangular synthetic blending brush, or just use your finger tips. When using cream foundation as corrective makeup, complete all corrections before you powder.

If you are using powder or liquid foundation, or have powdered your cream base, you can use blush as your contouring tool. To apply, sweep color with a contoured cheek brush. Paula Dorf's Angled Cheek Brush will do make this trick easy! Blend edges softly to give a natural shading effect.

Sculpting your nose into a slightly smaller version requires contouring down the sides of your nose. If your nose is narrow at the top and with wider nostrils, sweep color around nostrils and on tip. And if your nose is long, just a touch of contour around the tip.

If you are used to wearing makeup everyday, you may want to balance contouring your nose by contouring your jaw or under your cheek bones to really enhance the shape of your face.

Highlighting along the bridge of your nose, from the top of your nose out in a triangle to your temples - where the light hits your face naturally.

Work with your bone structure, creating shadows, contouring and de-emphasizing with a shade or two darker than your foundation; while highlighting will bring out your best assets. By interweaving the play of light on your face, you will learn to develop your own distinctive beauty look :)

Work with your hairdresser to make sure your hairstyle is enhancing the natural architecture of your facial features.

Q: I'm sorry if this is kinda long.
I've been going out with my bf for about 6/7 months now, and he was a virgin before and I wasn't. About two months into it we had sex, mainly initiated by me, and it's like he can't get enough of it! I just basically played up to it at first. About a month ago we had just had sex and I told him I loved him because I did. He went quiet for like a few minutes and then he said that he would wait until he truly meant it to say it to me, blah blah blah. This hurt me but as he was only being mature I just accepted it. Ever since then he never gives me any compliments that isn't to do with me being sexy or being good at something sexual etc, he although he does hang out with me if sex isn't involved I clearly get the vibe that he's not having much fun and if there is ever a possibility for something like that we WILL do it. I'm beginning to feel like I'm being used. He's also going to college soon and the idea befoer was that we'd keep it longdistance and now I'm not so sure. The thing is, I do genuinely love him, and I'm wondering if I'm just being oversensitive cos he didn't tell me he loved me - he's got a reputation as being this really nice and decent guy, and it's not like he pressured me into sex to start with! It would really upset me if I had to split up with him! There's this other guy I've been chatting to a lot recently who's really nice to me and I think he likes me for the right reasons as well - I would NEVER cheat on my bf but it's opening up my eyes to what's out there. As you see I need some help :( Thank you! .xoxo
haha wow thanks! so yeah just read over the answer i answered to the same question you put in first and ask me if you have any more questions

I am flattered you are coming to me for help. I'm really bad at relationship questions, but from reading your paragraph, I am sensing that he's not as into the relationship as you are. I understand how he has not yet said "I love you" to you back because either he may not be ready or there is some other reason. You probably do not want to do this, but you might want to ask him straight up what's up. I am glad you are noticing what else is out there as a "just in case" kind of thing. You mentioned he is going away to college soon and he might be happy at the prospects of partying and meeting new girls. I hope his reputation as a decent and nice guy isn't like he's going to be a "decent and nice guy" to all the girls he meets and flirts with them or anything just to be nice. I'm not sure, guys do change, and just be careful. That's not very nice that his compliments have nothing to do with your personality or your accomplishments or the like. I think you know what you have to do. Maybe you and your boyfriend need to take a break. Long distance relationships do work but take a lot of effort and he does not seem like he is willing to put in any energy into it. Definitely talk to him. It sounds scary, but if it is that important to you, you will have to do it. If this answer is not satisfying, put another one in my inbox and I will see what I can do more.

Q: I am choosing between two outfits for the first day of 8th grade. I want to look mature in my outfit yet fun. One thing i'm not sure about in these outfits though is the miniskirts. I want to give a good first impression to my teachers, and not give the new kids and younger kids the impression that I dress slutty.Do you think they are too short? I can't wear shorts because all my shorts are old and too ratty to wear that day. Oh by the way, you can't see the shoes so in both i'm wearing gold metallic flats. Also, how should I wear my hair?

1. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=5412now...
2. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=4t77i4x...
Both outfits are adorable. If you want to "lessen the sluttiness" of the outfits, you could wear leggings or tights under the skirts. Your hair looks cute worn down. For the first outfit, your hair could be put into curls if you want something a little different. Otherwise, it looks good already. For the second outfit, I would wear my hair into a ponytail and lay the pony on my shoulder, maybe tease the hair at the crown. I would wear the first outfit because the plaid skirt kind of reminds me of Catholic schools and just plain school lol.

Q: Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me. I love Edie Sedgwick(? can't spell last name) and I want her fashion. But I can't find any sites that actually tell you how to get her eyes or lips or fashion so can somebody help me?

PS: I already have Factory girl and t doesn't help:(
Edie Sedgwick was Andy Warhol's muse and dressed in what we now call the '60s mod look/fashion. She wore black eye makeup like black eyeliner and heavy black false eyelashes, big hoop earrings, page boy caps, lots of jewelry, and fabulous furs. She had a short haircut that is blonde with silver stripes.

Rebirth of the Factory girl

With her 'anthracite-black eyes and legs to swoon over', Edie Sedgwick was the darling not only of Andy Warhol's crowd, but of all 60s New York. Now she is fashion's top muse once more, reports Ellen Brookes Burney

The Guardian Online, Friday March 18, 2005

Fashion will always need muses. Clothes, you see, aren't enough: in order to get truly excited about fashion, we need a whole character to dress up as. This year's name became clear when John Galliano announced that both his haute couture and ready-to-wear collections for Christian Dior were inspired by Edie Sedgwick, Andy Warhol's 1960s superstar. Combine this with the fact that Sienna Miller, currently a fashion muse in her own right, is to play Sedgwick in an upcoming film - and recently bought $12,000 worth of photographs of Sedgwick at a Manhattan gallery - and you have an instant icon.

Miller's turn as Sedgwick in the forthcoming film Factory Girl is sure to have the celebrity magazines turning out "get the look" pages before the ink is dry on the reviews.

Like everything in fashion, Sedgwick has, of course, been around before. Since her 60s heyday - and her death in 1971 - her ghost has drifted on and off the fashion radar. Think of Kate Moss's blonde pixie cut a few years ago, or of Sofia Coppola dedicating her debut Milk Fed collection to Sedgwick's style. And it's not all underground; model Fanni Bostrom danced barefoot as she played Sedgwick to Will Young's Warhol in his 2002 video single Light My Fire.

Sedgwick's story as a fashion icon began when she fled Harvard for New York draped in her grandmother's antique jewels, and ended up in the Factory, Warhol's infamous slick-silver Manhattan studio. As young American heiresses go, Sedgwick was no different to your modern-day little madam, chartering countless personal limousines for her shopping sprees around New York and charging the bills to daddy's unlimited account. One crucial difference, however, from the Twit girls of today: she had style by the bucketloads.

Sedgwick set trends by not caring what was in fashion. She would turn up to posh society dos barefoot, or for dinner dates in little more than a leotard accessorised with bangles, multi-strand necklaces and dangling chandelier earrings. Sometimes she'd be wearing just a white mink coat and nothing else. But, crucially, she had her style signatures: the fragile, alabaster skin; the sootily rimmed teacup eyes; the Liz Taylor dark eyebrows; the silver spray of gamine-like hair, dyed to match Warhol's; and black opaque tights. As Life magazine put it in 1965, "This cropped-mop girl with the eloquent legs is doing more for black tights than anybody since Hamlet".

Sedgwick's flair caught the eye of the top New York designer Betsey Johnson when she was just starting out. "Edie was my first fitting model ... very boyish, in fact she was the very beginning of the whole unisex trip," Johnson recounts in Jean Stein's 1984 biography, Edie. "I liked leotardic clothes - body-conscious clothes. The jersey-bodied, T-shirty, silver, second skin. That was Edie. Her body was very important to her." Diana Vreeland, then the editor of American Vogue, pronounced Sedgwick a "Youthquaker!", aged 22, describing her as "white-haired with anthracite-black eyes and legs to swoon over". Gloria Schiff, a senior editor who soon shot with Sedgwick regularly, called her "an enchanting, remarkable creature of the moment".

According to friends, Sedgwick's apartment was chaos, piles of clothes on every piece of furniture. There were ostrich-plumed capes (how very now), tailed shirts, and high, high heels. Both Sedgwick and Warhol were fond of the now-iconic Breton stripes and would wear them out together. As the poet and artist René Ricard recalls in Stein's book, "Edie was pasted up to look just like him, but looking so good! The T-shirt. The black stockings. Long earrings. Just the most devastating, ravishing beauty." But who was copying who? Truman Capote guessed that Edie was something Andy would like to have been.

"He was transposing himself into her, à la Pygmalion. Have you ever noticed a certain type of man who always wants to go along with his wife to pick out her clothes? I've always thought that's because he wants to wear them himself. Andy Warhol would like to have been Edie Sedgwick."

He wasn't the only one. Sedgwick was fast becoming fancy dress party fodder, with the likes of artist Roy Lichtenstein's wife Dorothy attending a Halloween party dressed up as her. "Dorothy wore hotpants and very high heels and put on a lot of silver glitter," Lichtenstein (who accompanied her as Warhol) told Stein.

But soon, Warhol grew bored of Sedgwick and found himself another superstar, leaving Sedgwick even more messed up - and a little less dressed up - than before. "The Queen Bee Speedfreaks and Amphetamine Annie had found out where my apartment was," says Sedgwick on the tapes for the Warhol thriller, Ciao! Manhattan. "All my jewellery was stolen and all my expensive clothes. Dior, Balenciaga, just tons of originals. By the way, have you heard anything about my furs? Everybody's wearing them." And 40 years later, we're wearing Sedgwick's wardrobe all over again.

Q: so i've been messaging my friends a lot and i kinda ran outa stuff to say like i have said hey wats up or watcha doin or wat you up to and wat are you doin this weekend and sumtimes they get tired of the lines and don't even reply
-does anyone have any good conversation starters that would make them want to reply to me messages
Also, unlike what everyone said below, which are really good suggestions, when you say things like "what's up?" or "whatcha doin'" and stuff like that, begin by describing your weekend or anything new with you. Then ask them how theirs were and they would probably be more likely to respond. It doesn't hurt to give them compliments randomly either, like "your skirt looked so cute today!" or "where'd you get that necklace?" something like that.

Q: I'm really confused as to why all of these teenagers on here keep saying that they like this guy, but they want to get to know him. I don't understand how you can like a guy that you don't know. Maybe I'm just not shallow, but I'm 14 and that's the age that most people who post those questions are and I've never liked someone without knowing them first. I mean aren't you suppose to get to know someone and then decide you like them. Every hot guy that you see isn't someone you like, right? I mean I only like guys that I know and I like them based on their personality. Sure, I think guys are hot, but I don't like them. I don't even know them. lol I guess what I'm asking is if I'm weird or what?
I understand what you're saying. I think that like in settings outside of school where people meet a lot of random people, or just see a lot of random people, people would be attracted, not necessarily "like", a good-looking person at first. I mean, with strangers, you see the person first and if you like what you see, you would probably want to get to know them better. I'm not quite sure how to put it. Then they want to see what their personality is like. Yeah, people are sort of shallow like that. In school there's actually room to get to make friends with all sorts of people, be they good-looking or not, but like in public areas where you don't really know anyone, you might want to talk to that hottie by the door or whatever.

Q: me & my boyfriend have been dating for almost a year.. on the 20th it will be..
hes been away at college and is coming home soon. Now we love each other, no question. But I would like to do something sexy for him. Any ideas?? everything is welcomed!!Thanks!! =]
Yeah, definitely stock up on some items from Victoria's Secret or a toy shop, if you know what I mean.. like using props like whipped cream or whatever. lol

Q: Hello everyone. I was just wondering if any of you have seen the new Halloween movie by Rob Zombie that just came out. If you have, I'd like to know whether you thought it was stupid or not. I'd like to see what the majority of people say, so I know if I should go or not. I may go and see it tonight if I hear that it's good. Someone please let me know asap!! Thank you very much to anyone who answers. Sorry it's such a stupid question.
Someone wrote their review of Halloween on their site here: http://intensify.org/movies/1512/

I'll just paste it here for you to see:

Halloween (2007)
2/5 stars

Synopsis:
Rob Zombie’s take on John Carpenter’s classic tale of Michael Myers.

-Uhhh…
-It wasn’t very good
-There was plenty of gore, but surprisingly, a lot of it wasn’t shown explicitly; most of it is gross not visually but in terms of sound effects (squishiness for stabbings, etc.)
-The dialogue and acting were pretty bad
-Also, it just wasn’t scary.

IN A NUTSHELL:
I thought at least it'd be scarier

Comments:
Kiera
Oh noes! I totally was hoping it was going to be really scary. Dag nabbit!
Robin
The only thing I disliked was how completely indestructible Michael was. He was shot four times and stabbed, yet still moved on as if he hadn’t been touched at all.
Rachel
Aw, but that’s classic Halloween right there! If anything, I’m surprised he didn’t last longer.

But those are just opinions. You should watch the movie anyway and form your own opinion on it. Have fun!

Q: Okay, so we were reviewing absolute value in class on friday, and I know the basics and everything. However, there is one thing that I'm stuck on.

I know that |-9| = |9| (positive 9).

But, on our homework, we have to add the opposites..

|4-10| (which turns into 4 + -10)

|4 + -10|

My question is, would you turn -10 into a positive so that you would end up with |4 + 10| = |14|, or would you keep it negative, so when you get..:

|4 + -10| = -6, then -6 would turn positive.

See what I'm saying? Sorry if I'm making this more complicated than it seems, but I'm really stuck on this, and I need to get my Algebra review homework done.
No, not:

|4 + -10|

= |4 + 10|

= |14|

= 14

First finish the equation inside. After you get a single digit with a sign or without you can decide what to do.

|4 + -10|

= |-6|

= 6

Q: hello i would like some advice on how to controll my greasy hair . it gets very greasy very quickly and its making me stressed so could you please give me some help thank you .
I don’t know how often you wash your hair but there are products out there to help you. For example, try using the Dove Purifying Shampoo. Also, if your hair is oily a lot, use baby powder. Rub it in at the roots and that will help. It helped me.
