my name's rebecca. i doubt you're even mildly interested in the irrelevant aspects of my life, so i'll get to the point. i'm not a professional psychologist nor do i pretend to be, yet i'll try to give you advice based on the common sense that, unlike many others on here, i own ;]

why is anthropologie so expensive?

It's so expensive because it's a high quality brand. Sucks, right? You might want to try Free People or Urban Outfitters. It's all owned by the same company as Anthropologie and the clothing styles are very similar. If you look on the sale racks there, which I always do, it's not too expensive.

I believe the employee discount is about 30%, and you can use it at any of the three stores.

I have a test on monday for school and i need to study some words.The problem is that whenever I study, I forget what i studied the day of the test.My question is, how do i remember what i studied so i dont fail that test?Any advice helps thanks!

I had the same problem. Every time I studied, I'd just forget it all once the test was in front of me. What you need to do is make notecards. They really, really help. If you need to study words, put the word on one side and the definition on the back. Then have somebody (ex. parent or sibling) test you on them. Have them ask you what the word is, and then you'll have to tell them the definition. If you do this enough, eventually it'll be etched into your brain long enough for you to remember it during the test.

What does the 9th amendment mean?

"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

Basically, it says that there are certain rights listed in the Constitution, but that doesn't mean that there are no other rights that aren't listed. It's pretty much saying that there are rights that members of the country are entitled to, except they are not specifically stated in the Constitution.

Most people interpret these unstated rights as life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness.

Hebrew dates all the way back to the Old Testament. Yiddish is a mixture of Hebrew, German, and Slavic languages. It originated relatively recently, before World War II.

So there is this guy. He is really nice and funny and he is in a lot of my classes. He is in plays, musicals and he is really good at writing poetry. I always thought he was gay. He acts like a little girl too so I thought he must be gay. I am not trying to be mean I am just wondering. Because he got his ear pierced in the left ear and that is the one that means you are straight. What do you think about this? I don't want to ask him because that would be rude. He also made a joke about a gay person being gay. I was like what? My friends are not to sure of it either and one of them likes him and she didn't know if he was gay or not. Do you think he is?

What is your personal opinion about myspace in general?

Everybody acts like if you go on Myspace, you're going to end up raped or friends with a pedophile. In reality, it's quite easy to not have this happen to you. When people are stupid enough to give their phone numbers to, literally, random guys that friend request them, or plan to meet them, they're digging their own grave. As long as you don't make stupid decisions, Myspace is perfectly safe.

Like someone else said, when you post half naked pictures of yourself because you think you look 's3xii', it's your own damn problem.

i have pretty long hair and i was trying to find something new to do with it.

i was considering getting it permed but i don't want tight curls. is there a way to get a perm that looks similar to regina spektor's hair style? sort of a loose perm...? thanks

Yes, a stylist should definitely be able to give you loose curls. If you explain to her exactly what you want, she'll be able to do it. Even bringing in a picture of Regina would give her an idea of what you want. I found this article that talks about pemrs to give you big, loose curls:

what are the stereotypes surrounding NJ? and NJers?

Haha, not too good ones. I'm in NY, and everyone here seems to think that NJers pronounce their state as 'New Joisey'. Which makes no sense, because that would be more of a Brooklyn accent. There's tons of toxic waste dumps and chemicals in NJ.

Oh, and there's lots of Italians and people named Tony.

Yes, they don't wax off all of it, that would be a Brazillian Wax. It's supposed to be very painful (particularly Brazillians), but it's much longer lasting than regular shaving. Of course it'll seem embarassing, but the person who is doing it has [hopefully] had a lot of experience and really couldn't care less.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes my mom is just really irritating and it's so tempting to be snarky or sarcastic back to her. You just need to take a deep breath, think about what you're going to say and the consequences of it, and bite your tongue. I know the temptation is there, but it's not worth it in the long run. It might feel good for a few seconds after you say it, but you know your mom is going to get mad at you and you're going to be fighting again. If you just think about what you're going to say before you say it, you can limit yourself.

The same reason you'd picture Gertrude and Bertha as old women, and Dexter as somebody kind of nerdy. It's just name stereotypes, and everyone does it.

i am completely and totally in love with my boyfriend. i have never met a guy as amazing to me as he is. he is the definition of perfect in my eyes..and he says hes in love with me. he shows me all the time how much he cares for me and i know its not just some little fling..it cant be. ive just been thinking lately how long can this honestly last? we were best friends before we dated..and we have been dating for two months now..it feels like we have been together forever and things only get better. but i mean ive been worried that things are going to turn for the worse because ive never had a guy like this.. what are the chances that we will stay together? we are both 16..i know its young but i can honestly say i love him and it would kill me if i lost him..it feels so real..could it be?

Obviously most teen romances don't end up at marriage, but of course some do. I know a married couple who have literally been dating since sixth grade. And, look at Corey and Topanga on Boy Meets World :).

As long as you continue to love each other, there's no reason why anything should go wrong. Don't worry yourself thinking about what MIGHT happen, just focus on how happy you are right now.

heyy, in my school we are doing the play high school musical, and i got a LEAD dancer part and im so excited.

But she says she is gonna put splits in the routine. and all the girls know how to do splits but me and the instructor says i need to get one before the show. which is in April.

soo what can i do so i can nail my split and FASTT!
im not very flexiable and im not close to it at all
so help!!!

also, we have to do puroette turns. and she wants us to do two in a row and i can barely do one. so i need help on that too!

i REALLY wanna nail that, and fast.

If you practice every single day, I guarantee you will improve. I am the least flexible person in the world, but after dance lessons once a week, I could do almost a perfect split. Try these exercises:

Lay on your stomach and pull in your legs so the bottoms of your feet touch. With the bottoms of your feet together, slowly push your legs down like you're touching the floor. Keep your body flat, hold for ten seconds, and maybe longer when you get used to it.

Lay flat on your stomach parallel to a wall. Spread out your legs and push them up against the wall, and hold for about ten seconds or more.

Sit on the floor in a pike with your legs straight and toes pointed. Get your nose close to your knees and hold for twenty or thirty seconds. Flex your feet, still with your nose down. Sit in a straddle and try to get your elbows on the floor, holding for thirty seconds.

It sounds cliche, but practice makes perfect. Do these a few times a day and you'll be fine. Good luck!

I dont understand why so many people have issues with immigrants coming here illegally. i mean what happened to the good ol american saying that its the land of the free? i mean if you lived a crap life in mexico and you were just looking for a better life in america.. doesnt it make sense to try and come here? i mean when people get granted to come here.. its not that easy. you could be told "no". then what are you gonna do? live a crap life there? There's a difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants. My great-great-grandparents came here legally, through a process at Ellis Island, and now my family can legitimately say that we are just as American as anyone else. We came from Poland, waited in line, paid a huge amount of money, and after a grueling process, we are now legal citizens. You can't just come into a country whenever you feel like it, with your only justification being 'my life sucks'. I'm doing awful in math, but if I killed my teacher, with my only reasoning being "My future in college is ruined because of this teacher", I'd look ridiculous.

Think of every taxpayer who is supporting illegal immigrants, while they use our public works for free. It's not as simple as walking over the border and automatically becoming a citizen, there's a process you need to go through. Without going through that process, they are ALIENS.

There's a reason it's called "illegal". We should NOT reward people who are, techinically criminals. We do not put illegal immigrants in jail, we send them home. Fair enough. More than fair. The only issue right now is how to solve the illegal immigration issue. Mass deportation is clearly unrealistic, and a wall is laughable. Here's an idea, how about instead of worrying about this, we focus on making Mexico BETTER so they don't need to come here illegaly in the first place?

I absolutely hate my ex best friend. But I'm obsessed with her. I've hated her for about a year because she was a terrible person, but I can't help but to peek around her facebook and xanga to see if her life is miserable. Is this normal, because it sure as hell doesn't feel healthy.

I had literally the exact same problem. I'd practically stalk her facebook, AIM profile, and anything else I could find. Then I'd just feel miserable when I realized how happy she was, and I was just depressed enough to 'stalk' her.

Just realize that by peeking around her stuff, you're making things worse for youself. It's hard to realize that you're leading different lives now, especially when you used to be best friends, but it's such a relieving feeling to just let go of the past, as cliche as it sounds.
