The name is Leah. I live in Cincinnati, OH. I really love to give advice! I have been here since November of 2004. But prior to joining here, I was always been seeked for advice. Still to this day, my primary concern is always helping someone out in need.

I am likely not the best columnist here, but I can quarantee I am very dedicated and concerned when I answer a question. If I answer a question you're not satisfied with, I will ask why, so I can try my best to change my answer. I only give people information that I know; not information that I might know. And if I notice a columnist giving you a wrong answer, you'll know I'll be correcting their response!!

I do allow everyone and anyone to ask a question. I may have listed favorite categories, but I really have no preference. I do love making new friends!! It's no problem to contact me by e-mail or IM. I do have a Myspace, and I will gladly give it out if asked! If you ever need advice, if you feel like ending it all, if you feel like no one cares, I am here!! Talk to me.. I will listen and I will help you!!

hi! :]

my boyfriend & i had been together for almost 2 months. i really had strong feelings towards him. he always treated me right, i knew he was the one.

he broke up with me today and his reason was because he's looking for a girl whose a "woman of god" & that isn't me. he called me back about 3 hours after he broke up with me, and said that he had talked to his best friend & he heard a song that reminded him of me. & he wouldn't know how to go on without me. also that my religion doesnt really matter right now we just have to live each day by itself.

now he wants me back. but ive talked to my mom & sister about this already and they both said i shouldnt get back with him.

i really like him, i might even love him. do you think that me taking him back would be completely bad?

please help.
thanks a lot.

religion should not have anything to do with a relationship.. so you have different religious beliefs, it doesn't mean the relationship won't go well. A buddhist can be in a relationship with a christian if he wanted to. An atheist can marry a mormom -- either way it should not matter. try talking it through with him. and maybe get into the religion with him a little bit (it's your choice), and see if it will all work out.

so my boyfriend and i were fooling around about a month or two ago at my friends house. it was our first time n everything. He tried to go "in me" like twice.. barely making it in at all cause it hurts really bad..(im still a virgin).. is there any way i can be pregnant? does that count as having sex? i had ended my period two days before that.. if that changes anything.. this was in april.

i get really paraniod about it.. i think im looking bigger... i havent had my period since.. yet im always irregular.. its never on time. ever. i can suck in my stomach and it seems like its just fat.. im not fat at all but my tummy is kinda flabby.. i love to eat too. but i can still pinch the fat. my stomach isnt hard. but would it be hard by now if i was?

any help would be greatly appreciated.. i know i should just get a test.. but im so scared it might be positive.. i dunno how it could be. but im just paranoid. thanks so much

in that situation is just sounds like you had dry sex or something. you didn't have the real kind of sex, and it didn't really go in. but there is still a chance you can get pregnant from that. did your boyfriend ejaculate during that period of time?? if he did then you should try getting tested. if nothing really happened then your chances of getting pregnant are slim. but get tested just to be safe.

does anybody think its tacky to tell somebody you like them over instant message? it just feels so much easier to let everything out that way than in person.

That's not tacky at all -- most people I know express their feelings over the internet; some by phone. Doing it by internet just makes things easier to express feelings and emotions rather than telling them in person. It's normal to do that and it's very common.

Yes, I'm a pimple picker. Guilty as charged. I know the conseuences but for some reason its a natural reaction for me. I have so many scars on my chin and I don't know how to get rid of them. Should I talk to a dermatologist or are they permanent forever??

I have the same problem. Getting scars from some pimples. I find them very irritating, But what I did was getting a Dermotologist and asking how to reduce the appearance or get rid of the appearance of scars. He or she may give you prescribed ointments/creams for it.

In the Bible doesn't it say that we shouldn't pray aloud to show off? That instead we should pray in the privacy of our own room? (not the exact words) If that is so then why do people go to church? I'm christain but I don't believe that going to church makes a difference in how we are seen in God's eyes. Everyone pressures me to go to church saying that it will "lead me in the right direction" but I don't think it matters if I go to church or not.

Does it matter?

It does not matter if you go to church or not - God actually says you don't need to attend services just so you can get God to love you more. He'll love you the same whether you go to church or not. Church is just an opportunity to pray, and it does not matter how you pray - people pray in different ways. Some write it down, some pray in their head, and some say it out loud. God will appreciate it either way.

hi i'm irish, and i burnnn super easily.
but i realy want to get tan this year.
any suggestions? other than self tanners?

Cocoa butter is the best thing you can probably get besides surgery. Try getting sunscreen with cocoa butter or other ingredients that can help you tan without getting the burn. They have many different varieties and SPF levels that can you choose from at any drugstore.

my mom has MS (multiple sclerosis) and she can still walk but not for a long period of time, and she can't really be active that much but she is still normal besides not being able to walk for a long time and definitely not run. is she going to die? i just thought for a while that its just a little disease that if you take your shots for it (wich she does) it will be alright. but then i looked up "multiple sclerosis" on advicenators and it said this girl's mom died from it. will she die? is this going to get worse? dont sugarcoat it please

There is a possiblity your mom can have a normal life from this, and live her life about the same as anyone else. She could die at 50, 80, or 100 -there's no assurity that someone with MS can die shortly. I know somebody with it and they are in their old ages, and living happily. Just make sure your mom is seeing a Doctor regularly to significantly decrease her risk of injury or death. Many people have lived their whole lives with it, so you can never be sure when someone with MS will die.

It is a possibility it could get worse, but there is also a possibility the condition could get better. Just always make sure she is in healthy shape.

my fever is 100.9 , is that bad?
I have been having horrible aches and pains, stuffed up sinuses (ears, nose, throat)
and i feel woozy half of the time.

This sounds like this is just the common flu. Does not sound like anything severe or critical enough to see a Doctor. If your body temperature is at least a 100 then it's considered to be a fever. But since it's a low fever, again, it's not severe. Just take cold medicine daily before bedtime, and during the daytime take aspirin which can temporarily relieve the pain from the fever and flu-like symptoms.

I have a college essay and lost the original text document. I know some scanners have technology to scan documents and convert the scanned picture to editable text.

Is there a program you can download that will automatically do this? I have a normal scanner.

One program may be possible to do this and it's Adobe Acrobat, which converts documents into text, (it's also named as PDF) which is smiliarly the same thing. You can get a free trial of this online at http://adobe.google-pack-download.com/.

I was at a party and I was drunk and an older guy I met there forced me into doing stuff i didn't want to do, the worst part was he wasn't drinking. Im not sure what to do because i don't know whether to confront him about it. I feel like I was raped and I really don't know what to do to get through this.

There is a possibility it could be considered rape. If you were intoxicated, you had little or no control of stopping from it. So he might of taken advantage of you. Especially since he drank no alcohol.

Try talking to him about it and see how he feels. If the problem is not solved, try get some counseling to help you through this.

Hey. This is pretty nasty, but I discharge a lot. And I mean a lot. Is something wrong with me? Is there a way to control it?

A lot of discharge is pretty common. reasons why this could be is not enough oxygen {air} is coming out/in. Tight underwear, tight jeans, and pads/pantiliners/tampons could be factors. If you're wearing tight clothing, try putting on loose clothing. And make sure your underwear is cotton. Silk can trap oxygen.

It could also be from periods. A lot of discharge occurs a soon time before and after a period. This is completely normal, but once you're off it, make sure you clean the area gently with warm water only, and wear loose clothing.

These could decrease the amount of discharge. Do this for about a few weeks. If it persists of worsens, contact your physician or gynocologist.

how long does it take for cement to dry?

Usually it takes cement a few months to completely dry. The time it takes for cement to get dry enough to walk on is about a week, and the time it takes to see cement to first dry (the surface) is just 2-3 days - depending on weather conditions.

I have HORRIBLE stretch marks..and i feel embarrassed when i put on a bathing suit..is there any way to disguise them or completely get rid of them? I've tried the cocoa butter thing but i dont like the results..I've heard tanning helps disguise them...is this true?? any suggestions?

Thanks In Advance!

There are a couple of effective ways into reducing the appearance of them. Cocoa Butter is a highly effective lotion that can reduce the appearance of the stretch marks and even get them to start fading away. But in your case you say it isn't that effective. It's a long-term thing, however. Another effective way would be to start getting tans.. the tans could reduce the appearance of them as well. They do help for the most part.

And one more way could be you can try getting creams for it at a local beauty store or salon. They offer some variety of quick creams to quickly get rid of it. (usually they take up to a week to work!)

I've been using jergans natural glow for over a week, and it worked pretty good. But it says you'll get maximum color after a week. If I keep using it, will I keep getting tanner or not? Because the insides of my arms & other aread are still pretty pale.
thanks xO

I actually used the stuff for awhile. What you'll need to do is apply more of the lotion more often on the more pale areas, and also try getting natural tans as well which can help your skin color even out. Give it a another week and you should see improvement.

yesterday, i was plucking my eyebrows, and it was taking too long, so i got lazy and tried to shave around them.BIG MISTAKE!i shaved off the top corner of my eyebrow, and then had to fix it so i didnt have a chunck missing.so now one eyebrow is shorter than the other.and its a noticable amount shorter.what should i do?should i just wait for it to grow out and then have a proffesional fix them?or what.please help!i think it looks stupid, and i want to try to fix it as soon as possible!

thanks to anyone that tries!

Actually to temporarily fix this problem you can use an eyebrow pencil. It's similar to eyeliner except it's for eyebrow use. You apply it on your eyebrows, so they can look more natural and even. When you buy the pencil, however, be sure it's the same color as your eyebrows.

And eyebrows do grow back, so do that for awhile until it starts growing back. It should grow back eventually. So don't worry about it!

You can get the pencil for just a few bucks at a local drugstore. They're easy to apply and it's removable.

i have two quetion about my period:

1) i have had my period since jan. 1, 2005(i know, happy new year to me right?lol).i only get my period every 2 months, like i had my period last month, april, 24th, so i shouldnt get it until around may 24th.is this ok?becuase i know most people get their period every month.could i just not be regular yet, or is that how my cycle will most likely stay?

2)yesterday and today i noticed red(blood)in my underwear.i shouldnt get my period until about may 24th, as i said above.it hasnt been nearly enough to put in a tampon, at all(i use tampons).what could this be?could i be starying to get my period every month now or is this not even my period?

please help!thanks!!

That's completely normal because that's what happens to me. I usually start every month but there are times I start a few weeks later or earlier. The blood you are noticing is probably your period. It's ok if it's a bit early or a bit late. That's normal. It's also normal to get it every couple of months. The average range is 2 weeks to 6 weeks.. and you only start a week or two later which is no big deal.

The blood you notice could also possibly be just a little sign of blood - that's all. Sometimes blood can, on mistake, discharge, which could be signs of starting your period soon.

And if it is your period, blood can discharge at different quantities.. like one period you can discharge a lot of blood and the next one barely any. That's also normal as well.

If none of this applies to you, or ends up not applying to you, seek a gynocologist to see what's going on. Usually it's normal to see signs like that. Your body is just changing, and the hormones in your body are changing rapidly.

When are you more likely to get pregnant... Like around when you get your period or someother time?

And if your taking the pill is stilll more likely

You're most likely to get pregnant whenever you're not on your period. But the most risk is a couple weeks before your next period, because the egg in the uterus is exposed and waiting to be fertilized. Once you start your period the egg disintegrates, so once you get off your period, for the next week the egg is still in the fallopian tube, which is extremely rare for sperm to get to it and get you pregnant. When you're on your period there's still a risk but a low one, since the egg is in the process of disappearing.

I know this may seem stupid. but i cannot stand freaking "popular" people. i have an advice collumn, and everyday i have a different message in my inbox from them like "stop being jelous of the popular people" or "why dont you wear preppy clothes and dress like everyone else? you'll never be popular if you do." and i sware im not jealous, and i wear all the same clothes they do. why do they think there the best? there really not that great. and i know im not a loser, so why do they call me one? they are all extremely mean, and full of themsleves. i dont want to be friends with them, but is there any way i can make them stop this? i really cant take it anymore and its really lowering my self esteem. pleaes i need help as soon as i can get it! thank you so so much!
love always.

oh bye the way if you are one of the popular people at your school, i'm really sorry im not being steriotypical and saying all popular poeple are like that. so please dont take thi the wrong way!

I know how you feel. I am not a fond of popular people either. I am not against them. I have many friends who are popular and wear preppy clothes. I don't get into it but I always try to find some common ground with them. You are who you are. Nobody else can change that but yourself. Don't care about what others people think. You're unique and you don't need a reason why you don't like popular people - you just simply don't get into their style and reputation.

If they won't understand how you feel then they're being jerks. Just ignore them and prove to them you're way better than that. Don't waste your time getting back at them.

Besides, uniqueness and difference is better than trying to be like everyone else.

Hi, I am recently 15 years old and have been suddenly feeling selfconcious about my body. I am about 5'6'' 5'7'' ish and i weigh 130 pounds or so. Is this considered over weight? I exercise constantly (cheer practice, running, abs, etc) but im still terrified to get cellulite ( back of my thigh area) Is there any way to prevent cellulite? and is it true once you have it you cant get rid of it? also what are some exercises that slim up you abs(under belly button) and the back off your thighs. (right under your butt) any answers are appreciated =)

p.s. i am in no way anorexic/belimic just for the record.

You are actually at a healthy weight! 130 pounds is healthy. And it's awesome you're exercising a lot. Ways of preventing cellulite is taking lots and lots of vitamins!!!! Get some chocolate which has antioxidants to help cellulite, vitamins C and E (especially C) can siginificantly help with cellulite. Don't try those creams you see on TV - they don't work for the most part. Vitamins for your skin (like I mentioned) can really help from preventing (even treating) cellulite. You can find them in fruits and vegetables. Taking multivitamins can work, as well.

Im 13/f
I eat alot of chocolate and my mum thinks im addicted to to it, i do too, i always feel like chocolate and a bar is never enough.
I eat a chocolate bar every day and a sweet cereal bar too. some days i'll even have two choccie bars.
I'm worried that if i carry on i might get diabetes, i want to stop eating so much, but how?
How can i make myself motivated and resist chocolate?

I know how you feel on this one. I eat a lot of chocolate as well, and sometimes I struggle with not eating it. It can be hard but most of the time I manage. That person that said chocolate is good for you, is right. It does have antioxidants that can help you decrease your risk of heart disease, and it helps release the hormone dopamine, which helps you stay happy. It's healthy for you but only in moderate amounts. Try eating chocolate low in sugar first of all. Like usually chocolate can get up to 20 mg of sugar in just one serving! Try cutting down serving sizes, and if you really have to get that urge, make sure it's low in sugar. (under 10 mg). Also see a Doctor about how to deal with this problem.

It's always good to have some chocolate every now and then. It protects the cells in your body and keeps you happy. Just try to decrease a little step-by-step. If you're underweight or at a healthy weight, you exercise regularly, and you watch what you eat (other than chocolate) by eating your servings of fruit, vegetables, and grains, you're less likely of developing diabetes. But if it runs in the family, or you are overweight, check with a Doctor just to be safe.
