Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

what is Adderall used for?

It's a type of medicine used for people who have ADD and ADHD. Which are basically diseases that make it difficult for the patient to concentrate and such. My brother has it as do many of my friends. I think I may have it slightly.
Anyway, my brother used to take Adderall so I know a good deal about it.

Also, if you don't have ADD/ADHD or some sort of illness that requires you to take it, it has much different effects. Rather than calming you down and forcing you to concentrate, it has the opposite effect. It's kind of like speed in a way. It really speeds you up and can be very dangerous if you take too much.

i wanna get a eyebrow wax.. do they hurt really bad or not really? and how long will it take before it stops hurting.. or right after the wax will it look perfect? cause im thinking of getting one for the first time tomorrow before my school dance. thanks! 13/f

It stings a little, but it doesn't really hurt as bad as you probably think.
It's a lot less painful than plucking in my opinion. With plucking you do it one hair at a time so it stings worse than when you do them all at once.
It depends how long the sting lasts with who you go to to get it done. I used to go to this one salon and one of the ladies there would put a damp washcloth over your eyebrow after she waxed it and that took the sting away immediately. If where you go doesn't do anything like that, the sting will last just a few minutes.

You probably want to keep your eyes closed while you get it done, especially if, like me, you have long eyelashes. There are those not-so-pretty stories of girls eyelashes getting stuck to the wax from not keeping them closed. I'm not trying to scare you, just give you a tip.

It will look good right away. It will probably be a little red that first night, but by the next day you should be fine appearance wise. Since this would be your first time and you're not used to it, it may take longer for the red to go away, I'm not sure. If you're going some place nice (a dance, party, dinner with friends, etc.) then I would get it done at least one day before the event.

ok I haven't had my period in a long long time and when I do It is only a little and only like one day. I am only 15 years old and I know for sure I am not pregnant. I am in sports if that matters. But what should I do is it something serious? should i see a doctor?

It could be due to the sports and the strenuous physical activity. I had an eating disorder when I was younger (Anorexia... I had it in middle school), and that made my period delay and really crazy. I only get it every few months but it's really heavy which is not fun at all.

Anyway, I saw my doctor after it skipped a few months the first time and she said it's normal for your period to skip a lot the first 1-2 years. Although, if it skips more than like 4-5 months you should probably see your doctor to make sure everything is okay.

There are complications other than pregnancy that can cause this. It's probably got something to do with sports. I also played soccer for a few years and the constant excercise and such had a big effect.

You may want to make a doctors appointment just to make sure everything is okay. Don't stress too much, that can also delay it. (Wow, being a girl really bites sometimes, huh?).

I'm extremely worried about my GPA..And I don't know how to calculate it. Please help me out..

Last year, I had a 3.9. And that was in my freshman year. This year (Sophomore), I'm messing up in Chemistry, and so far, I have a C. Chemistry is honors for me. The other classes I have are : English 2 Honors : I have an A, A.P European History: I have a B, Algebra 2 Honors: I have an A, Creative Writing (not honors): I have an A and P.E (not honors lol): I have an A.

I think that the Chemistry will seriously screw my GPA up. Will having honors classes help me somehow...by not dropping me down too much in the unweighted GPA? ;_;...And if I get like a 3.2 GPA or something...can I pull it up to a 3.7 or something easily if I get better grades? :( I'm sorry it's long and confusing. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about for you, but with honors classes we get an extra quality point and with AP classes we get two extra quality points. So, in all honesty, with the grades you're making it's really as if you're making a weighted GPA of about 4.
Think of it this way. You have with your honors classes (weighted) a 3.0 for chemistry. A 5.0 for english, algebra 2, and and AP Euro. You have a 4.0 for CW and PE. Totaled and averaged out that makes a 26/6. That gives you over a 4.0.
You are fine! You're actually very smart. Where I live AP Euro is really hard. I'm only in AP American gov't & politics and that class is tough enough for me.

Anyway, you shouldn't worry. If your grades stay exactly the same (and you get the same type of quality points I get) then you may actually go up with your GPA.

If you don't have the same type of quality points, then I'm not really sure how it would work out.

I am begingin to do research on to become a Social Worker.I have 2 years of high school left, and i've always wanted ot be one, but I just don't know where to go to collage.I need to go somewhere in Ohio..What would I major in? The EC teacher (special ed teacher) at my school originally wanted to be a social worker. She told us that she majored in Social work. Or maybe I misunderstood her.

I bet if you googled "social worker" or "how to become a social worker" then you could find something.

Otherwise I suggest making an appointment with your school guidance councilor. I actually wanted to be a social worker at one point. After a while of really looking into it I decided I was much too emotional and that I would become too attached to make it my profession.

Anyway, using google and/or speaking with your guidance councilor would be the way to go with this.

Okay, yesterday I came on, and I was a moderator and it was all okay. Don't you have to have a 4.5 Rating or above to be a moderator, if so. I'm still okay, cause I have a 4.7, I come on everyday. I don't rate as much as I could. but I rate a Couple everyday.

My Question, Why did this happen? I wasn't banned either, obviously; Since I'm On here. And Do I have to wait for like Six weeks or whatever to become one again? If not how can I become one again.

Well, you were banned twice. The last ban was for Typing Like This, Capitalizing Every Single Word. It was probably just a one hour ban, so whether or not you noticed that you were banned, you were.

YG was the one who banned you, I don't know why you're denying it. As level 2 mods we are both able to see your past history on the site, so denying things is not going to help you. It's what happened. If you have to wait 6 weeks before becoming a moderator again, you have to wait six weeks.

If they don't specify I would put weighted.

I never put unweighted unless they say that unweighted is what they want.

If you took the tough classes, you deserve the extra gpa points, and you deserve to use them unless told not to.

If you're dating then just kind of come out and say it. Tell him that physically you're ready to go a little bit further such as fingering and hand/blow jobs, etc.

Now if you're not dating then I'm not really sure how you would go about doing that without coming off a little weird. Sure, most guys probably wouldn't care either way, but I'm not so sure whether or not that is what you meant.

Yes, it is completely okay to have sex during your first month of pregnancy. It's okay to have sex during your second, third, fourth, and so on.

As far as I know it is encouraged and/or healthy as long as you are comfortable and you and your mate enjoy it.

They are tee-shirts. They're the equivalent of a female tanktop/cami. Guys wear them. I'm not quite sure the reasoning behind the name though.

It will explain everything there.
A brief explanation is that there are 4 levels of moderators.
Level 4 - the owner of the website. You have a less than one percent chance of ever becoming a level 4. (I would say never, but you truly never know). We never used to have a level 4. It used to be level 3 was the owner and those who the owner knew really well.. I always thought outside the site. We have a new site owner though, so it's a tad different. Currently, the only 2 level three mods is DW who is the wife of the owner, and Fern who has been around for as long as the site has been around (to my knowledge anyway). Again, you have a less than 1% chance of ever becoming a level 3 mod.

The L2's are carefully picked by DN and (ususally) after other L2's give opinions. Or at least that's how it was. I'm not sure the last time we got a new L2. I am an L2, currently there are only 6 of us. As far as I know, DN has picked who he wants and just has not promoted them yet. (That, or the moderator list page isn't updated).

Then there are L1's. All they need to do is meet certain qualifications and they're in. It's an automatic thing for them. To become an L1 go to this link http://www.advicenators.com/mod.php?mode=makeme and it will either make you one, tell you that you are one and give you your rank, or explain what else you need to become one.

As per what they do. L4 runs and owns the site
L3 helps L4's run and own the site.
L2's help to keep the site running smoothly. They have the ability to ban, warn, and check accounts of those who are misusing the site. We help discuss ways to make the site better and such. We approve questions or delete them depending on whether or not they are appropriate for the site, etc.
L1's are able to rate questions a 1-3 depending on how good they feel a question is. (For more info, see the Mod FAQ linked to above). They are also able to participate in a moderator discussion that discusses site issues and are able to give any feedback and/or ideas of things that will help the site. (Anyone can do this through the "make suggestions" link on the side of the webpage).

so will walking an hour a day and eating healthier and drinking water and only water help me lose weight like by doing that and not to mention walking around school and stuff will thathelp me lose weight pretty fast and how much weight do you think i could lose in 5 weeksof doing this

Yeah, that should actually work. Especially if you drink a lot of soda.
Did you know that for people who drink a lot of soda and other sugary drinks that by giving them up entirely you can lose quite a bit of weight. I did that and lost probably 10 or 20 pounds in like two months.

Anyway, 5 weeks of doing this could probably help you lose up to 10 pounds as long as you stick to it.
Diet and excercise are all you need to lose weight. By diet I just mean eating healthier, I don't mean those crazy no-carb diets or things along those lines.

I wouldn't drink ONLY water though. Milk is really good for you too! Make sure you're eating foods from all the food groups too!

Okay, I am know good at fashion, So I have come to my fellow Advicentors for help.
What looks better Blow drying your hair or Just letting it dry?

For me - I have to blow dry.
If I just let my hair dry naturaly it gets REALLY thick and REALLy wavy.
That's just because my hair is lame and I have to do a lot to it.
If your hair still looks good by just letting it dry - you might as well do that. It's less damage anyway. (Ya know, damage from too much heat from blow drying and such).

I'm in the 10th grade and I'm having my A.P Euro exam on wednesday...the first one...and I'm really scared. does anyone have any clue at all how to study for these tests? Are they hard? :|

and also...do you think its stupid..if I can't do well in that class...for me to drop out and get an elective or something? >.<

Your AP exam is tomorrow? I've never heard of an AP exam in the fall/winter, they're always in the spring. Or do you mean you first test in the class?
I'm in AP US, I was supposed to take AP Euro too but I decided not to.
Anyway, if you're referring to your first test, you can go over notes, make flash cards, etc.
It's pretty much the same as if it were the actual AP exam. You have to do what it takes to learn the material.

The tests/exams are the same as any other as long as you've paid attention in class and have understood the materials.

If you still need study tactics, ask your teacher. He/She will be your best bet for good studying.

hey, im going into ninth grade and i need a new backpack or something to carry my stuff in, my old one is lost. so i was wondering what are like the styles. is it messenger bags or backpacks or what. so if you could give me some ideas or links of cute bags that would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks!

I bought one of those big bags from Victoria's secret. A lot of people have those. (The messenger bag).
Anyway, I got a few more books than I expected and it's really heavy and hurts my back. So I am using an old bookbag which is a lot better for my back and doesn't make things seem so heavy.

If you don't have a lot of books or if you're load is really light then a messenger bag is nice. BUT, if you're taking a courseload that will have books and possibly quite a few supplies a bookbag is smarter.

They have really cute bookbags in Target, Kohls, and many other places.

I suggest paying the extra money and getting a jansport or a nice brand where it will last years and has a warranty on it. They make them nice and they should last through high school and even college.

I don't suggest a Wal-Mart bookbag just because the last 3 book bags I got from wal-mart were all big enough and all broke by the time I was half way or 3/4ths into the school year. The one I bought my freshman year was a jansport and it's my senior year and I still have it. The only problem is a slight tear in one of the straps but that's because my sophomore year I was wearing it and a guy friend jumped on my back and literally sat on top of my bookbag for about 5-10 minutes. It's not even a small tear, it's more like just a few threads that were broken. That's how you know it holds up well.

I'd suggest a backpack though, it'll work out better and they have really cute ones these days.

its from macys, and its really cute. its this like purple, that seems to be somewhat in. that darker purple. and then like it dips down low kinda. kinda like a scoop shirt or whateveR? and then its a baby doll top, and it has silver trim, and the sleeves like kinda puff. and then it has threee little silver heart buttons, going down. its really cute. and then i'm just wearing dark jean capris. & then i have these cute little silver bracelets, 3 of them. that im gonna wear.

I understand people don't dress up or anything. but i don't wanna look like a slob. i wanna look cute.
