Q: Ok. I just had minor surgery on my left big toe. To be more specific, the surgeon ripped off half of my toenail and now it is wrapped up in a big toe turban. But the problem is, because the toe turban is so huge, it won't fit comfortably in a shoe! And I'll be having that toe turban on for a long time until my toenail grows back! And I'm going to school next week! What can I do? I really hate (and don't have any) sandals!
I think I had the same surgery on my finger. I may be wrong. Anyways,
What I did was I wore the turban for a few days. Then, I took a big bandage (One of the extra-large sizes), put padding in it, and wrapped that on. It did the same thing. Once the bleeding stopped, I removed the padding and just used the bandage.
I suggest that to you, as it is the same thing, just smaller. If not, I'd suggest that you get shoes that are 2 sizes too big for you. Enough room, and they aren't ginormous.

Q: Is it possible for one's main vein to be cut open with a nail clipper??? I'm just curious
I suppose so, yes. If you use it enough times.
DO NOT TRY IT!

Q: Hey! I am a girl, and a sophmore!

I am taking Geometry this year! today was my frist day, and my Geo. teacher has different teaching styles, and I am finding it very difficult to learn. He is really into using logic, and I am totally a streat smart person.
Do you have any tips or sugestions to help with this? is there anything that I can do with my notes or anything to help?

thanks so much!
-Kels-

I'll rate and leave feedback! :)
I took Geometry 2 years ago. It's a lot of proofs. All I can suggest to you is to memorise the theorums. They're relatively simple, it only took me about 2 read throughs to get each one. Just do the homework, go in for extra help, and if you EVER need help in Geometry, contact me at sbloemeke2@yahoo.com. I got an A- in the honors track.

Q: Okay. I just got a Myspace & I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me out with it. I want to know how to make paragraphs on my "About Me" section. It's just because I write out something with paragraphs then when I go check out my page it's all together. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks so much you guys :)
To start the Paragraph. to end. I know it works in HTML, it should work there too.

Q: well is it wrong to go out with your friends ex but what if you went out with him before she did
I will rate a 5!
Oh, then that's fine. She did the same offense to you, so it immediately is fine to do the same to her. Especially since you had first dibs.

Q: I play field hockey and its preseason and i hurt my musucle under my ribs. first it was only the one but now it is both. what should i do? is it from running 1-4 miles a day? shouldi ask to take the day off of running or what? HELP PLEASEE
Definately. Use the rice method. Rest it, such as not running for a day or two. Put ice on it. Then compress it, usually by wrapping an ace bandage or something around it. Then elevate it (Sit up.)
And I suspect it is from the running, or the swinging of the club.

Q: I just had surgerey earlier like at 10:45, and had anastesia. My dad and I were supposed to go to another city quite a few miles away. Do you think that I could go? We would go at like 7 or 8 tonight. Oh, did I mention we're going on his motorcycle? Yea, we are. So..do you think this would be alright? I need answers as soon as possible. Thanks

***Jess***♥
I wouldn't. You are too prone to injury or illness at this point, and it is usually best to wait a few days. A lot depends on the type of surgery too. If it was on a joint of a limb, definately no, wait at least a month. If it was internal, maybe in a few days.. Depends on what the organ was.
It's not worth it. Driving would be fine, FYI, but not the motorcycle. Too risky.

Q: I am a sophomore in high school. I have been playing volleyball since I was in 5th grade. I have played on my school team and a travel team for the past 3 years. I've also had asthma since I was 3 years old. Having asthma makes it very hard to do most of the stuff we have to do. This year, we have a new and very hard coach named Beth Ann. She expects us to be Olympic athletes. If we make one bad pass, she makes us do like 3 suicides. I can't handle that. The first day, I puked twice. Plus, the coach underestimates me. The back row passers can't make a decent pass, and I'm a middle hitter, and i make more decent passes. She doesn't tell us how to fix our mistakes, she just makes us run. We run more than play the game. I can't handle it anymore. I've just lost interest in the game.

This is the tricky part. My dad is big on watching me play volleyball. I don't want to quit, but I really think I should. My sister quit her sophomore year also. How can I break it to my dad nicely that I don't want to play anymore? I don't want to piss him off. Asthmatics shouldn't even be playing sports. Ya konw? I don't want to be a quitter, but I want to be able to breathe. Someone help! Sorry about the length! I'll rate every good answer a 5.
My first suggestion to you is to not give up on it. I suggest that because I know what kind of a coach you are talking about, my swim coach is like that (Winter). I considered quitting, my mom told me to try for another month, and the rewards are phenomenal. I'd suggest just sticking with it until the end of the season, and you may actually improve to one of the best of the best.
My second pertains to what YOU want. If you wish to quit, you should just go up to your dad and ask if you can talk with him for a bit. That always softens the father up. Tell him about volley ball, and how it is just frustrating you with the new coach (Elaborate for a REALLY long time on this coach), and trying to do it with asthma and how you just aren't getting into it like you used to. Ask if you could just try a season off, as it may boost your morale in playing.
This passive type of a talk will always result in one of two things. The first is that you will get what you want. The second is that your dad will give you better advise and confort than any of us can give, and you go into it with renewed confidence.

If you know about teamwork theory, you are in the "Storming" phase. The quicker and the stronger it comes, the much better of a team you are. It's when you lose motivation. But, it should pass as quick as it came, and you'll be norming, getting so much better.

Just try it, for me. Yes, I do care that much about you. Just try. Please?

Q: hey, im 4'11 and im 104 pounds. i think im fat, but all my friends say im really skinny. ive got some blubber on my stomach and my thight are huge. can sombody tell what might help with my stomach and my thighs, or is that a good weight for someone my height. thanks sooo much. i rate too
A girl at 4'11 should generally be around 90-110, so yes, you're fine. If you want to lose some weight, just exercise more. It has less risk of anorexia, and you still can eat what you want. Add a mile to your jog, another 20 laps to your swim. And lose the weight slowly. 1-2 pounds a month, tops. Though it's not really a weight issue. But exercising will change the fat to muscle.

Q: My cousin (I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP I SWEAR!) is always wanting to make out. She is only 12 and has never made out but is always having the urge to do it. How can she stop?
12? Wow. Anyways,
She can only stop if you make her want to stop. Tell her horror stories of people who began making out young, and show her where they ended up. Maybe tell her that if she keeps at this rate, she'll be pregnant at 15. Just tell her that she's too young, and she should believe you.

Q: I got my hair cut really short for school (don't ask why) & so I need some hair styles from guys with short hair, could you please tell me what these are & how I can do them? or is there a site that I can go to?

thank you
Well, I tend to take a comb and some moose and move all my hair such that it's facing backwards. Not a very feminine style for you... So, you may want to do what I used to. Do nothing to it. Maybe brush the front to the right, if that's anything...
There's not much you really can do with it.

Q: How can I broaden my vocal range? I'm 15, a soprano, and the highest I can sing is a high C. I've just been given the role of Christine in our local theatre production of "The Phantom" and she has to sing a high E. I can't sing that high! What do I do?
Well, I'm a bass, so you do the exact opposite of me, but when I needed to lower my register to the low Bb (From the D...), I did a lot of exercises that always hit the Bb. If you do it enough, maybe an hour a day, you get to a lower note (Eventually). It's just practice.
Now for you, you'd probably have to always make sure to hit the top. If you have a book for an instruments, some of the exercises can be applied. Just make them your notes.
Good luck to you!

Q: Hey i have a picture that i want to use on vampirefreaks.com but it can only be in .jpg , .jpeg , and .gif files. How can i get my icon to become one of thoses files? is it even possible?
~melissa
Go to Control Panel, and find folder options. I think it is right in there, or it may be in "Display", depending on your Windows version. Click on the view tab, and change the setting on "Hide all known file type extensions" or something like that to the opposite. There will be a thing next to each icon that'll say something like wordpad.exe or .gif, etc. Change the one on the file to .jpg. Should work.
Hope this helps!

Q: alrighty this might be kinda of confusing but i need help now!sorry its goin to be long. okay first off im a 13/f and never hooked up with anyone yet! so i went out with this kid "ronnie" for abouit a week and i found out he never really liked me (long story) so that was back in may now i like a new kid named "jonnie" but "ronnie" likes me and today he told me he wanted me to sleep over his house ( im friends w/ his sister) to hook up...but no strings attached..what do i do? i kinda wanna just to get it over with and i kinda like him..do i hook up with him or not?

ILL rate 5 no matter what (unless its a smartass answer)
I'd advise you to go. He likes you, you kind of like him. Jonnie may not like you, yet you like him. You'd probably be much better off with a person who likes you than one whom you are not sure.
And I'm 16, and never hooked up yet, so don't use that for your decision. I'm perfectly fine with my love life. :)

(Wow, that was probably the worst advise I've give in months. Worst as in poorly written. Sorry about that.)

Q: But one of my really good guy friends birthday is coming up on the 31st. I was just wondering what I could get him. Any Ideas? I'm totally clueless. Ill rate!!

*
Being a guy, I'd suggest something that has to do with his favorite team from some sport. I know when I get that, it's an automatic good present. Maybe a shirt, if that fails. Something he'd enjoy. Or a CD from his favorite band/composer. Though it's not the gift, it is the thought that counts. So it may not be what he's looking for, but it shows that you care, and he'll appreciate that.

Q: I got less than a week before tryouts. How do I let my team-mates know that I'm not doing my sports in the fall season. I don't want to get made fun of or yelled at or anything by them. Is there anything I can do other than just not showing up. Everyone keeps asking me to go and work out with them, but I always come up with excuses. What should I do

15/m
Tell them the truth. Tell it to the ones you are closest to, and only the ones that you are closest to. The others will either hear it from them or ask you later, or just not care.
I would call them up, and explain to them that you are sorry, but you cannot make tryouts next week because of (Insert your reasons for leaving here). Tell them that you are sorry for disappointing the team, and that you wish you could, but you just cannot for whatever the reasons are. Let them know.
And do not keep on coming up with excuses, as it is a hole you just dig deeper with each excuse. There is a reason for it, let them know.
Hope this helped!

Q: Hi. I'm a 16 year old girl and I have a huge problem. I often times wonder about God. I'm sure that I believe in him but at times I have doubts...is that normal? And also, is it true that God has a plan for everyone and some people are bound to go to hell?
It is one of the most normal things that can happen to a teenager. I think a poll had 75% of the people answering confessed that they had doubted their religeon at the teenage years. It is because you are becoming independent of your parents at this age (I began at 15), and you start trying to find what you believe instead of what your parents believe. Those are the doubts.
And the second question, nobody can say. I believe it, but there is a specific reason. You have the free will to do what you will. God knows what you are going to do, as he knows everything. That is how he knows how he will judge you. Your path then is to try and live your life the best you can, as that is the path chosen for you. If you don't, then that was the path that was chosen for you. It sounds confusing, I know.

Q: I know people who have been playing the "choking game." Not by themselves though, I know you can die easily that way. What they do is kneel down, and put their head on the ground and take deep breaths. They get up, take a deep breath and hold it, then a friend puts their arm around their neck and chokes until they pass out. Is this really all that dangerous? I've read that people have been doing this since the 1980's, and the only reason its a big deal now is because kids are doing it by themselves and arent letting go of the choke before they pass out. If a friend is doing it and knows when to let go, is it dangerous?
Yes, it is VERY dangerous. I first heard of this 3 years ago. The Californa Blackout. It creates severe brain damage (No Oxygen), and has killed a few people.
And it's dangerous even if a person knows when to let go, as it is still a lack of oxygen. The passing out is when the brain has insufficient oxygen, and shuts down temporarily into a sleeping mode. It's still dying for a little while.
I hope this helps!

Q: I've played on a soccer team ever since I turned 7 (except for one year when I was 11 and skipped to play year round baseball). Last season, I was injured and out of it for 6 months. No physical activity or anything. Horrible for an active kid like me. This year I'm playing under 16, and it's gotten pretty competitive. I am not an extremely competitive person with things that I'm not terrific at.

I still have two (2) days to back down and not play. But the thing is, I'm positive that I'll regret either decision. I'm starting high school this year, and I don't know how busy I'll be with that, and I'm afraid I'll injure my knee again. Should I choose the more active one? I'm not asking for you to make the decision, just some helpful insight.

Thank you.
I think you should play. If there was one thing I learned from my physical therapist, it is that it is more difficult to injure a knee a second time after treatment that it was at the beggining. The knee should not be a limiting factor, unless you are in excruciating pain when doing something (I.E., I couldn't do breastroke when swimming...)
Besides, you need an active life. It is obvious in your question when you told about the 6 months away from activity. You couldn't stand it, and if you get away from soccer, those 6 months become permanent.
And you're a teenager, so I'd definately suggest that you try to do as many activities as possible through this time, even if it seems like you have no time.

THE PENGUIN RULES ALL! AHAHAHAHAHAHA! *Cough*
Hello! My name is Steven, and I am a mentor. Yes, that does mean that I help other people. I have helped over 1000 people to date, and have helped some individuals for over 1/2 a year. The miracle of my life occurred 17 years ago. I say miracle only because 1/4 babies survive to be born.
I am the first born of 2 children, and I am also the black sheep. I listen to Classical Music, so you can call me a weirdo. :P. I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, so take no offense if my answers never seem to end.
In school, I get As and Bs. More Bs really. I play trombone, and was the section leader of the trombones at my school. This year, I am the captain of the entire brass section. I am an Eagle Scout, so I guess that says I'm persistant? You make the call. I am a 3 time varsity letter winner, looking for a 4th next winter. I also participate in the musical, where I am a Bass 2. :)
I am straight, and have never had a relationship beyond a friend. However, I have survived the bumps in the road, and can advise you if you wish it. Though, it's not my strength.
I'm here for you, and only you. That means that my advise will not always confort you. Heck, it may even scare you. Yet, I want you to do what is best for your mind. Not what is typically seen as best for you, but what YOU see best for YOU. Heck, if you wanted what was seen as best for you, you would've asked your parents what you should do. They give you what's typically best.
Alright, before I start getting tendinitis from writing that over and over again, I'll just say what I mean. I mean that if you ask me about something, let's say walking 10 miles a day, and I think it's rediculous, yet you are asking for something to do, I am NOT going to say "10 miles is the type of a thing a anorexia athletica would do. Try 5." I'll give you something to do.
Oh, and I'm a L1 moderator, which means I rate questions.

Don't hesitate to IM me, I'm usually on. If I'm not, just drop one in the Inbox!

Oh, by the way, I am liberal in everything. That means that abortion is a woman's RIGHT, and gay marriage should be LEGAL.

Ask away!
