I play field hockey and its preseason and i hurt..

I play field hockey and its preseason and i hurt my musucle under my ribs. first it was only the one but now it is both. what should i do? is it from running 1-4 miles a day? shouldi ask to take the day off of running or what? HELP PLEASEE

Shanicole08 answered Wednesday August 17 2005, 8:52 pm: first ask a doctor. you made need to quit for a certain amount of time so that you can properly heal. dont be afraid to ask for help or find to out what's wrong, then follow the doctor's instructions. or maybe if you tell your coach the about situation he/she will give you a break. sbloemeke answered Wednesday August 17 2005, 7:15 pm: Definately. Use the rice method. Rest it, such as not running for a day or two. Put ice on it. Then compress it, usually by wrapping an ace bandage or something around it. Then elevate it (Sit up.)
And I suspect it is from the running, or the swinging of the club.
