!Vocal Range!

Question Posted Tuesday August 16 2005, 6:39 pm

How can I broaden my vocal range? I'm 15, a soprano, and the highest I can sing is a high C. I've just been given the role of Christine in our local theatre production of "The Phantom" and she has to sing a high E. I can't sing that high! What do I do?

Well.. practice makes perfect!

Also drink warm tea, green teas, and herbal teas

Eat things with honey and always keep yourself hydrated.

You can do it and you'll be great!

Just look at Kelly Clarkson and her range! <333

Do warmups and scales every day for 20 or 30 minutes. During the last 5 minutes each day, try to hit high D. After you've got that down (after a few days, weeks, however long it takes), go for the high E.
Don't strain your voice trying to get the high E down.
Don't get discouraged if you can't get it right away. Your voice is like a muscle and you have to train it.
Worst comes to worst, if you cannot hit the note by opening night, they can edit the music for you.

Well, I'm a bass, so you do the exact opposite of me, but when I needed to lower my register to the low Bb (From the D...), I did a lot of exercises that always hit the Bb. If you do it enough, maybe an hour a day, you get to a lower note (Eventually). It's just practice.
Now for you, you'd probably have to always make sure to hit the top. If you have a book for an instruments, some of the exercises can be applied. Just make them your notes.
Good luck to you!

Just warm up higher then you normally do and it should broaden your range a lot, that's what I did, and I am an alto and I can now sing a high C. Just try not to strain to get the notes. Because then you will really damage your voice, as i am sure you already know. Hope I helped :) And good luck!
