I am taking Geometry this year! today was my frist day, and my Geo. teacher has different teaching styles, and I am finding it very difficult to learn. He is really into using logic, and I am totally a streat smart person.
Do you have any tips or sugestions to help with this? is there anything that I can do with my notes or anything to help?

AlienHumanologist answered Friday August 19 2005, 3:18 pm: Logic is one of the fundamental tools of rational thought. Unfortunately for you, it does not appear to be an innate ability of human beings. The sophonts of Deneb VII are born knowing logic and indeed spend most of their lives doing nothing other than proving theorems and reproducing.
My suggestion for you is to realize that logic is like the rules of a game. Just as in chess, certain pieces can move only in certain ways, in logic, certain statements can be manipulated in certain ways. For example, take the statement:
All humans are mammals.
This statement is true. Perhaps we could try manipulating the statement as follows:
All mammals are human.
This is clearly not true. A capybara is an example of a mammal that is not a human. Changing our first statement into the second is an example of an illegal move in the game of logic.
However, a legal rule in the game of logic is to turn it into:
No non-mammal is human.
This is a true statement, because it follows from using a legal logic rule on a true statement.
Logic in geometry is very similar. There are rules to the game, and as long as you play by the rules, you cannot go wrong. The difficulty is in learning how to effectively use the rules to move in the right direction toward the finish line.
Remember, logic is just a game with rules. If you play the game well, your mental awareness will rise to the next level. [ AlienHumanologist's advice column | Ask AlienHumanologist A Question ]
X0C0URT answered Thursday August 18 2005, 9:39 pm: I took Geometry last year as a freshman and it wasn't too bad. I actually kinda liked it. The main tip I can give you is MEMORIZE FORMULAS! It's the most important part of Geometry. As long as you know all the formulas and theorums, you should be just fine. Good luck!
mooch789 answered Thursday August 18 2005, 3:19 pm: Well this teacher sounds like a tough one to live with. You can switch out or wait for it to get better. Most teachers are full on the first day. Just know that you will suceed in this class. Or you can walk up to him and ask him to explain it more after class. Good luck! Hope I helped! [ mooch789's advice column | Ask mooch789 A Question ]

Furthermore, consider having a tutor, either online or offline. If not, just read your notes after classes. Try to develop a an interest in the subject becaues it will make it easier on your part and always try your hardest in studying and getting the grades.
Lastly, if you don't understand what the professor is discussing in class dont' be afraid to ask.
emmii answered Thursday August 18 2005, 12:53 pm: what i would suggest is in the class take very well notes and if he says to turn to a page in your book, go by that more than off of his teaching, after each class at night study your notes so that when you have a quiz or test you will do very well by studying every night!
brunettecutie answered Thursday August 18 2005, 3:51 am: dear kels,
well math is one of my worst subjects. but every teacher has his own ways of teaching learing material. maybe you can just ask him to stay after class and help you out more clearer.
DancinCutie08 answered Wednesday August 17 2005, 11:19 pm: geometery is prob the easiest class i have ever taken. really its just like shapes. if you can move up to honors cause its so easy and you will prob get a better teacher. if you cant ask your parents for help like make not cards and have them ask you questions or get a tutor from your school. just dont get worked up thinking its harder than it looks cause its really not. if you have to most books have some of the answers in the back andpracitce sections. also try reading ahead a lesson or 2 so you understand better about what your teacher is talking about. if you need anymore help i can try to help you i got a 99% in geom last year [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
willyoucatchme answered Wednesday August 17 2005, 8:40 pm: Hey Kels,
The best thing to do is go to your teacher
and ask for help. That way your teacher will think you care enough about your grades to find a solution. They may have some great techniques you can try!!!
sunnyville answered Wednesday August 17 2005, 8:29 pm: Keep your notes in order, write things clearly so you could understand.Talk to your teacher during class or after class to help you out and that your having trouble understanding the way he teaches and to use an easy way so people could not have trouble learning.Believe me it will work if he forget's about what you told him remind him because he may have to grade things or check homeworks or other things or many other students he has to keep track of that he will most likely forget. sbloemeke answered Wednesday August 17 2005, 8:22 pm: I took Geometry 2 years ago. It's a lot of proofs. All I can suggest to you is to memorise the theorums. They're relatively simple, it only took me about 2 read throughs to get each one. Just do the homework, go in for extra help, and if you EVER need help in Geometry, contact me at sbloemeke2@yahoo.com. I got an A- in the honors track.
