Question Posted Tuesday August 16 2005, 3:47 pm

I got less than a week before tryouts. How do I let my team-mates know that I'm not doing my sports in the fall season. I don't want to get made fun of or yelled at or anything by them. Is there anything I can do other than just not showing up. Everyone keeps asking me to go and work out with them, but I always come up with excuses. What should I do

You could just not show up at tryouts, but it's maybe not the best thing to do if you've been very involved with sports in the past. If some of the people on the team are your closer friends, just tell them that you're not doing fall sports, and tell them your reasons for it (if they're not too personal). I'm sure they won't make fun of you, they might be disappointed because I'm sure they're losing a valuable member of their team, but just tell them that you'll cheer them on. Hope this helps, good luck!
Love,
Nevaeh

Tell them the truth. Tell it to the ones you are closest to, and only the ones that you are closest to. The others will either hear it from them or ask you later, or just not care.
I would call them up, and explain to them that you are sorry, but you cannot make tryouts next week because of (Insert your reasons for leaving here). Tell them that you are sorry for disappointing the team, and that you wish you could, but you just cannot for whatever the reasons are. Let them know.
And do not keep on coming up with excuses, as it is a hole you just dig deeper with each excuse. There is a reason for it, let them know.
Hope this helped!
