My little brother is having his fourth birthday and he kept asking me to make him a cake. Well, tonight I asked him what sort of cake he is wanting and he said, "CHOCOLATE!!!" I figured chocolate cake with chocolate frosting would be a very suitable choice. Anyway, I want to make the cake and frosting absolutely from scratch but I am not finding a good chocolate cake recipe that jumps out at me. I thought maybe someone has one here that they can vouch for as being excellent. I need the BEST chocolate cake ever. Can anybody give me a good recipe for it?

I'm in a baking community on LiveJournal so I searched through it and found a recipe that sounded good:

Chocolate Fudge Cake

2 1/4 c. flour
9 tbl. cocoa powder
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine, room temp.
2 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 tbl. canola oil
1 c. sour cream
1 c. boiling water

(**NOTE!!** 3 squares of bakers chocolate may be used in place of the cocoa and oil. Just melt it, cool it and add it when you add the vanilla. Just don't forget to omit the oil if you go this route instead.)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 round cake pans. Sift flour, soda, salt, and cocoa together and place aside. Beat butter until soft in large bowl, add brown sugar and eggs. Beat with mixer on high until light and fluffy (~5 minutes). Beat in vanilla and oil.
Stir in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream - beating well after each addition - until batter is smooth and thick. Pour in boiling water and mix well (batter will be thin). Pour into pans and bake for 35-40 min until toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.

If that doesn't really pop to you, try searching the Food Network website. :) I'm sure you'll find something amazing on there. They always make good stuff.

Moisturize!

First you need to shave with a new razor. Try shaving with shaving cream first, and soap second. Then, when you're done and you've dried your legs off, rub lotion on them so that they don't dry out.

so my hair is reallly long and i'm think about cutting about 5 inches off and getting some layers.. i also want to color it, but i'm not sure to go lighter or darker. any suggestions?

Your mother isn't stupid. She read something and assumed the obvious. How the hell is she supposed to know that "getting drunk" means going to Utah? She's assuming that you're actually drinking alcohol so until you point out that you give nicknames to things and that it's an inside joke with a friend, she's going to be mad at you and think that you're going down the wrong road. She's not psychic so you might wanna clear that up.

You shouldn't hate your parents though. They may be your enemies now but things change when you're not living with them anymore. It's probably best if you enjoy the time that you have left with them.

My parents are having some really bad marital problems right now. It sounds like they are going to be getting a divorce soon, but they are still living in the same household with me and my little brother. I am 17 and my brother is 15, by the way.

My parents are always fighting and they sleep in different rooms. My dad sleeps in the living room on the couch and my mom sleeps in the bedroom. I have my own room and so does my brother, by the way. Mom just started working nights while my dad works mornings so they just don't interact any more than they have to.

Two days ago I found my brother smoking pot. I know he's 15 and lots of kids his age are turning to weed but, let's face it, it isn't good and it isn't the best way to cope. I know he's stressing out over Mom and Dad but drugs can lead to serious problems in the future. Weed is illegal, too, and I don't want him to get in trouble with the police. He begged me not to tell Mom or Dad about it and confessed that he's been smoking pot for like 2 months now or more.

I want to tell my parents because it just isn't good for anyone. They need to start paying more attention to us, I think. I don't want my brother to find safety in smoking weed. I want him to be able to rely on the family.

What do I do? How do I tell my parents what is going on with my brother? How can I explain to them that he's turning to drugs because they are not here for us any more and haven't been since they started fighting?

Maybe sit them down one by one while your brother is out since I know it'll be hard for you to get them to sit down together. Tell him that your brother's been smoking weed for 2+ months to cope with the problems between them. Tell them he told you not to tell but you're too worried about him to keep it a secret.

He's probably going to get in trouble, and it's a sure thing he'll be mad at you, but in the long run, he'll realize it was best that you told. Don't be afraid to be the tattle tale sometimes. I know people think it's looked down upon, but in some cases it slides.

I have a best friend who always is wanting things from me. My boyfriend told me last night that he thinks she tricks me into it! Last week she said to me, "Can I spend the night at your house this weekend?" and I was really excited and got the OK from my mom. I thought we would have an awesome time, but the entire night she used my computer! The next day I was going job hunting and she said she'd like to tag along for support--but then she started picking up applications for herself and she already has a job! I thought it was kind of messed up.

I'm just so sick and tired of hearing how bad she feels about this, that, and the other and her never asking how I am or listening to me when I feel bad. I logged onto my MySpace this morning and she sent me a message saying, "I was so happy it was the weekend...now I can't remember why..." What's that suppose to mean? Is she finally getting the hint that she is spoiled and I can't put up with that crap? What do I do now?

Talk to her about it. Tell her that how you feel. She's never going to get the picture if you don't tell her what's up. She may be a spoiled brat who's also a skilled freeloader, but she's not psychic. The only way she'll understand your point of view is if you open your mouth & tell her what's up.

Don't tell her in a text, online, on the phone, etc. Tell her face to face. It'd be cowardly of you to do it anyway else. It may be easier to resort to technology to tell someone something, but it's the coward's way out and despite everything she's done, you owe it to her.

When you tell her about your feelings, tell her that things have to change & quick or the friendship will end. You need to stick by what you say because if you let it happen over & over with no consequence, she'll keep doing it because nothing's being done. So, if you tell her to quit it & she doesn't, end the friendship.

I have 3 best friends that I spend all of my time with. However, I'm the only one that has a job, and they don't respect that. I wouldn't resort to a dating website. Those are usually for adults & such. And I don't think it'd be very safe for a teen to do that.

Find yourself a boy at school or at the mall, maybe even at a concert. You never know who you're going to run into or see & what could come out of it.

Don't turn to a dating website though. You're 14. There's no need for that.
