Best chocolate cake recipe? My little brother is having his fourth birthday and he kept asking me to make him a cake. Well, tonight I asked him what sort of cake he is wanting and he said, "CHOCOLATE!!!" I figured chocolate cake with chocolate frosting would be a very suitable choice. Anyway, I want to make the cake and frosting absolutely from scratch but I am not finding a good chocolate cake recipe that jumps out at me. I thought maybe someone has one here that they can vouch for as being excellent. I need the BEST chocolate cake ever. Can anybody give me a good recipe for it?

I'm in a baking community on LiveJournal so I searched through it and found a recipe that sounded good:
Chocolate Fudge Cake
2 1/4 c. flour
9 tbl. cocoa powder
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine, room temp.
2 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 tbl. canola oil
1 c. sour cream
1 c. boiling water
(**NOTE!!** 3 squares of bakers chocolate may be used in place of the cocoa and oil. Just melt it, cool it and add it when you add the vanilla. Just don't forget to omit the oil if you go this route instead.)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 round cake pans. Sift flour, soda, salt, and cocoa together and place aside. Beat butter until soft in large bowl, add brown sugar and eggs. Beat with mixer on high until light and fluffy (~5 minutes). Beat in vanilla and oil.
Stir in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream - beating well after each addition - until batter is smooth and thick. Pour in boiling water and mix well (batter will be thin). Pour into pans and bake for 35-40 min until toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.
If that doesn't really pop to you, try searching the Food Network website. :) I'm sure you'll find something amazing on there. They always make good stuff. ]
