A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.

Okay, so I was accepted into this leadership program. Which is great, except that I have to get professional pictures of me taken. I'm DREADING it! I'm kind of funny looking, to be honest. I just really don't want to do this, because I think I'm gonna end up looking stupid, and these pictures are going to be in our school AND in a nearby mall where everyone can see them. its embarrassing.

so basically, I'm wondering what the best way to do this is. I'm not really into any sports, I don't play any instruments, or do art. I write a lot, though. We have to bring some type of props that suit us, and I just feel stupid about it. I also need to come up with a good outfit to wear, which is another issue.

some one give me some tips here so I don't feel like crawling in a hole anymore!

Are you going somewhere to get them taken? Or, would it be possible to submit your own picture? I've seen wicked good pictures taken in an outdoor setting- against a tree, posing in the grass or leaves, etc. Or, a simple portrait, taken by someone other than your school pictures photographer (because they won't have 1000 kids to photograph and won't rush you), also looks amazing.


In my opinion, the best thing to wear is a solid color. Wear a color you're confident in. If you're self-conscious, go for a light or neutral color, like brown, black, white, pink, blue, etc. As opposed to lemon yellow =) Solids tend to look best, if you're worried about your picture "standing out". A bright, bold pattern will draw attention to you and your outfit.

Well there's a fine line between offending someone and actually being hateful/threatening.

Like, you could say that you hated everyone who was Jewish. A lot of people would hate you but you're just speaking your mind.

Now, if you walked into a public place and declared that you were going to kill everyone who was Jewish, THAT would be hateful and violating the rights of others to be safe/unthreatened.

You don't need one yet, but you will in a couple years. It's good to go for regular checkups (yearly I believe) to make sure everything is in working order. Unless you want to go on the Pill or have any problems you don't have to until your 20s.

You don't have to do anything; do whatever you normally do that you're comfortable with. Taking a shower before you go is a good idea, but your doctor has literally seen everything already so don't worry at all.

i scrunch my hair sometimes with hair mousse and/or hair spray so the curly/waviness will stay. the thing is i really hate that my hair gets hard and shiny looking when i use that stuff. like if i sleep on it after i do that it looks better the next day because its not hard anymore and it looks more natural haha. so is there any way to get it to look natural without sleeping on it? thanks a ton!

I use Herbal Essences gel. The Totally Twisted line (it’s the purple one) has curl scrunching gel that works really well. I stopped using it because it didn’t make my curls crunchy, it just held the curl and stayed soft. Since that’s what you’re looking for, I’d recommend that product. Plus it’s inexpensive [less than $5 at Target, CVS, etc]. Also, avoid using a hairspray with a lot of hold.

My best guy friend was making fun of me for being prissy and girly, and we made a bet-he bet me $100 that I would not spend a night sleeping in a trash dumpster. I want to win (duh!) and I know of some trash bins that will be like 99.9% plain paper trash, nothing gross but one thing really worries me...what if the trash truck comes? Is there anything I can do if I wake up to the dumpster being emptied into the trash truck w/ me inside?

Nope. You'd end up in the truck. I really don't think it's a good idea at all. The only way it'd be less than completely insane, would be to know when the trash truck comes.

I'd get a one inch. Anything ceramic that gets really hot is perfect. Curling irons aren't like straighteners, they're basically the same.

The curls will look a little ringlet-y at first, but curls relax into looser curls/waves awhile after styling.

when i use foil when i do my hair or highlight it wont the dye go in the foil and i wont have any more color?


second question, when i wnt a lot of contrast color in my hair when i highlight it , what do i do? is it better to foil it or not?

The color doesn't go in the foil. Hairdressers use foil all the time!


And if foil helps you separate the chunks of hair you're dyeing, by all means use it. I've found it to be easier just using a highlighting comb, especially for blocks/chunks of color.

Condoms with spermicide might reassure you further, but a lot of people are sensitive to it. Regardless of if you're on the pill or not, use a condom, because the pill doesn't protect against STDs.

How can I get rid of strech marks and razor bumps? I have strech marks on my stomach and razor bumps you know where. I'm 14F,so telling the parents about why bikini bottoms aren't so ideal anymore would be embarrasing.

Don't even worry about stretch marks. Practically everyone has them, and you notice them a LOT more than other people do. They'll fade with time.


Razor bumps are sometimes inevitable. They can be minimized though. Don't shave for about a week, it'll give your skin a chance to recover. Moisturize and exfoliate regularly. When you do shave, use a sharp razor [dull razors are awful for the bikini area] and lots of shave gel or conditioner. Shave in the same direction the hair grows as much as possible, since this minimizes irritation. After you shave, dry the skin and moisturize, and wear boyshorts if possible because it'll avoid chafing/irritation. If you continue to get bumps, you could be allergic to the shave gel you're using, or just be sensitive to shaving. Try another method of removal such as waxing or a depilatory like Nair.


If you STILL don't want to wear regular bikini bottoms, boyshort bottoms are another option. You'll have a different tan line, though.

I really want to transfer to University of Washington, and because it's such a good school I'm not sure I'll get in. On www.schoolsoup.com (if you click on colleges), it says that the percent accepted is 56%. That seems awfully high for such a good school. I looked on student reviews and a lot of people said its very competitive to get in. I have a 3.13 GPA right now and I'm a sophomore in college, but I'm staying another year and a half to get all my classes for the general education before I transfer so I will have time to raise it.

I want to be in their dental program to become a dental hygienist, but I want to know what grades I should have. Obviously a 4.0 is ideal and a 3.5 I probably still have a chance, but what is the average GPA for a student that gets accepted there? Their website is very difficult to navigate. Help please!!

Oh and I'm seeing my counselor to discuss transferring there next week, but I just really want to know ahead of time.

CollegeBoard.com is an excellent resource. According to their profile page, 30% of applicants had a GPA between 3.5 and 3.74.

So, since eighty percent of those who are accepted have a GPA of at least 3.5, I'd try to aim for that =]

Also remember that several other factors are included when you apply. Extracirriculars, interviews, etc are all very important.
