About meeeeeee-I love rock and funk (and funk rock!)- The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, ect, exercise 8 times a week each time an hour or more (rowing, running, kickboxing) and play guitar. (I have a Fender with a wah wah pedal and an acoustic.) And don't you just love my mouse warrior? ;-p

what are crunches? and how do you do them
Crunches are sit-ups in still motion- to do them, get in sit-up position and raise your upper-body off the ground as you would do in a sit-up. Hold this for 30 seconds or longer if you want- the lower to the floor you hold your back, (without putting it on the floor!) the better it is for you. You can also do side crunches, which is the same except you face sideways. All crunches are great to lower your stomach region.Hope I helped,

Okay well I am 13 years old. I think I am one of the fattest people out their! I weigh about 105, and I am about 5,1 ½ .. There are like 4 people who tease me, and call me fatt because they know it gets to me, and I cry all the time. About 1 week ago I tried making myself throw up. It hurts, but I don't care. I am also on a diet. So the food I eat is healthy still get's vomited out. But oh well. But my two best friends ones a guy who I like love with all my heart, and one is a good girl friend of mine are so pissed that I do this, and tell me not to listen to what people think =/ They said if I continue to do it they'll refuse to talk to me.. Urg! I wanna lose a lot of weigh for summer, and stuff and this is a pretty good way to do it but I dont know because I dont wanna lose my friends anymore =/ .. Ekkkk what to do?

Don't worry- 105lbs is NOT fat. I know you won't listen to that, but at the age of thirteen you will seem to see the tiniest bit of belly as really fat. If you are normal exept for the stomach area, this is FINE. You just have a low metabolic rate.(Which in case you don't know means the speed our food is digested). If you still feel uncomfortable with this stomach, try doing a few 30 second crunches (hold a sit-up still for 30 seconds)- a stright one and two sidwe ones (one on each side.) ----If you are a little chubby on the arms, face e.c.t, thats also okay- you only weigh 105lbs, you can work it off easily. If you do the following exercises reguarly, it'll be gone way before summer----try to take up a sport as a hobby- running, swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates, rowing and martial arts are all good. Also, try to do a mini- workout every day- don't worry, its not hard! I recomend crunches (see above), 20 sit-ups, 20 press-ups, 20 step-ups, 20 squats (great for chubby thighs and hips- just sqat down as if you are sitting down), 20 starjumps, 20 squat thrusts ( put your hands on the floor and thrust legs up to your elbows then back again), 20 burpies ( a squat thrust with a jump at the end of each leg thrust)and a 10 minute on the spot jog. Always warm up and strech after and before working out. ----Also, whatever you do, DON't make yourself throw up- if you want to be healthy, this is the complete WRONG direction. It is an eating disorder called bulminia and it can kill. Try calling the eating disorders association on 0845 634 7650 or look at their website on www.edauk.com. ok, my parents are divorced, i think all my friends talk about me and hate me, and i think my moms going to die!! whats wrong with me? sometimes i feel like cutting myself but i don't. i just think thats not how u solve things but i feel like doing it so mucch. my life is soooo screwed. canyou help??
Don't worry there is nothing wrong with you, you have just gone through alot. It is not you or anyone elses fault (except your friends). Remember to love yourself and think positive.
First, I would solve your problem with friends- either talk to them and tell them how you feel, ask why they are doing this and how if they were your true friends they wouldn't be doing this. If not,start making some new friends- don't stop talking to the others untill you have found some, then tell your mean friends that you think they shouldn't be treating you like this and that maybe you would be better off having real friends that respected you. You don't deserve sp called "friends" like that. I'm having a similar problem at the moment.
Secondly, don't cut yourself whatever happens- if you cut once you'll do it again and again. I know your situation is hard but you can change the situation for the better.
Thirdly, you say you think your mother is going to die- could you send me another question explaining why you think this please? I may be able to help.
Fourthly, your parents are divorced- I know this can be very hard but remember it is likely that they are happier like this- otherwise they wouldn't have divorced.
Finally, if you are still worried, try ringing one of these numbers- You can ring Childline at 0800 11 11 or Samaritans on 08457 909 090 for professional advice on any problem.

ok well next year i want to do track or croscountry are there any ways i can get fast but not make my miscles really big on my legs lik ie lik run for so long lik that please help me ill rate high....thanks
Instead of doing weight workouts that make your muscles bigger, try strength workouts- like push-ups, sit-ups, squats, e.c.t. Running should not make the leg muscles grow huge either. DON'T DO WEIGHTS- THESE WILL DEFINITELY INCREASE MUSCLE SIZE. This way you will become stronger without muscles growing huge enough to notice without tensing. Try to eventualy work up to a timetable where you run at least 3 miles one day, work on speed one day (keep doing 30 second sprints)a hill sprint once a week (run at a strong pace up a steep long hill and jog slowly back down 10 times)and do an indoor strength workout once a week. For this I would reapeat 3 times a pattern of; 20 sit ups, 20 push ups, 20 squats, 20 step-ups, 20 leg raises (lie on the floor with arms by side and raise legs an inch or two of the ground. Hold for 3 seconds then let down. If you don't feel it, you are not doing it right), 1 30 second crunch (hold a sit-up in still mo. for 30 secondsd), 2 30 second side-crunches (each side 1 crunch). This may sound like alot but I can fit in this and alot more in my week. If you cannot do everything here then make it easier (like instead of a three mile run try a 2 or 1 mile run)or drop something.If you do all this you will have SUCH a good chance of winning track events and c-c. As I said before UNLESS YOU ARE IN PERFECT FITTNESS AND AN EXPERIENCED RUNNER, YOU MUST WORK UP TO THIS TIMETABLE OTHERWISE YOU RISK INJURY. Hope I helped, sorry its so long,

For the past while i have been cutting myself. At first it was just scratches and then i started cutting deeper and deeper. I am really scared and I don't want to talk to my parents, they have enough to worry about, so is there anyway i can break the habit and just stop...and please don't answer if you are just going to poke fun at me and mock me. I don't need that. Only post if you can help me.
You must stop now- if you hit an vein by accident, it is likly you would die. Next time you get an urge to cut, harm something else, like cut an orange or ppunch a pillow. Love yourself and think of all the other people that love you- your family, your friends..If you did accidently kill yourself think of how they would feel. It would be best to tell your parents but if you really can't speak to your school counsellor or e-mail the Self Harm Alliance on support@selfharmalliance.org. It could save your life.

theres this friend I have.. she hates being fat.. she gains weight really quickly.. recently shes been purging.. I tell her the stuff that can happen from doing that and i want to help her stop.. shes been doing ok but she made herself throw up again on christmas and boxing day cuz her parents made her eat alot and she didn't wanna screw their xmas up for them.. I want to help her but i really dunno what I can do for her now...she doesn't listen to what I say about what could happen to her health cuz shes sticking pens down her throat and stuff.. her parents force her to eat meat and she hates meat so she wants to throw that up too.. please give me advice on what I can tell her to help her stop or what I can tell her to tell her parents to be more understanding about her being a vegeterian without letting her parents no what my friend is doing.. thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Your friend is Bulimic- Bulimia is an eating disorder that can turn servere. Throwing up on purpose stops nutrients from food getting into the bloodstream, so its pretty much the same as not eating at all. If she is throwing up after every time she eats meat, it is essential that she becomes a vegeterian. Make sure she sits down with her parents and has a long, serious talk about being veggie and how she hates eating meat. Give her this number to ring- its The Eating Disorders Association-0845 634 7650.if you don't think she is ringing it ring them yourself and ask for advice for your friend. OK so me and my Best friend have been friends since like third grade...we live by eachother and we would hang out all the time....In Elementary school it was great..then when junior high hit we still hung out but not as much...we talked all the time and we were still very close...but then highschool happened....it seemed that she became friends with alot of the cooler crowd and would only talk to me when it was conveinent for her....Now we are in the same church group so i see her every sunday and she talked to me there....I kind of feel like i am her second wheel...like if no one better is around she will talk to me...or if all of her "cooler" friends were gone all weekend then she wood call me....is she just using me? I dont know what to do.....HELP!
Sometimes for me its the same way- maybe you should try strengthening your better friendships and give her a bit of space. Never folow her everywhere or anything like that or that will make you feel worse. At the moment she is not trying to use you, she is just confused- she knows she will get more popular by hanging with the cool kids but she dosn't want to let you down.

I hate reading. We have to accumulate so many points per quarter.Like we read a book then we take a test on it and you get points for the book depending on how many questions you got right on the test. But i hate reading. I don't like any kind of books and i think ive already read all the books in the library! Maybe not..but still..i hate reading! Does any one have any tips on how to like reading? Or any good books to suggest? and our quarter 2 cut-off date is jan 7th..i have no points!! i need to get 13..any tips on how to get my reading done?

To try and like reading more, use your imagination to picture the setting and whats happening in a book. Also, when you read, really relax and try to make at least one hour of each day to read. Try to look forward to this.

I decided to get a hair cut today but I don't what kind i want! I have dirty blonde hair and it's very long! I'm 17 and a female! Any suggestions?
My hair is thin and used to be long so I cut it short and spiky. It can be hard to make thin hair spiky but with some strong gel its no problem. I think that short and spiky would look great on someone with dirty blonde hair. If not, try a layered look, maybe with flicked sides, or have it curled. Whatever you feel comfortable with. If you still can;t choose, look in one of those hair style books- you can get them at most newsagents.

Hey i'm reallyy frustrated cuz everytime i get some type of new clothing my friends call me or something and tell me that they have the same clothes or type of shirt or w/e. I really dont care but they start freaking out over nothing! when i try to tell them its just a shirt they get all mad at me and so i eventually take it back to get a new one. its really frustrating and i dont mean to get the same thing. i try to get over it but they keep bringing it up saying i "copy" them on everything i do. their my bestfriends and it just frustrates me. plz help me i dont know wut to do:-(
Don't get fustrated- this shows how close you are to your friends, how you have similar interests and how much you influence each other. Of course you don't copy them, you are simply influenced greatly by them and when you see an item of clothing they have, even if you don't know that they have it, as they were taken by the item, you have such similar tastes in clothing that you are also taken by it. Try shopping with them so that they can tell you if you are about to buy something they have.

Hey I got a Wah Wah pedal for my Fender for christmas, but thats more for funk. I would get one even if i prefered punk because its seriously so cool. I advise you to get "The Weapon" form digitech, £149 but seriously good. Perfect for metal players, it has four types of distortion, auto-wah, a sitar simulator, an octave shifter that offers two octaves (down and up) and a ramping phaser. Its made for you. Its rated top in the guitarists bible. Look it up on google or yahoo or something- it looks great too.If its too expensive (it is quite) tell me and I can recomend a cheaper one.

Does anyone know some type of food that would give me more calcium? I heard that the age i am (15) is one of the most important to get more of it. I HATE milk, and dont really like yogurt or cheese. I am afraid I might get osteoporosis when i get older. HELP!!
If you dont' like foods with calcium in them, just buy some calcium pastilies (Just like multivitimins). Take one a day and forget your worries! Hope I helped,

Hey you sound just like me! One way to start a career is to form a band if you want to, write songs and play gigs at fairs, festivals and so on. This is the way most gutairists, rock bands/ singers, funk bands/singers, ect start.
Another way is to film yourself singing and post the video to a recording company (these adresses can be found on your CDs, but it is a good idea to post to companies in the country that you live in) or a talent/singing competition. Don't be shy, blow those peoples minds! You know you can.

I have a problem in the learning catagory. You see, I dropped out of school because of a few things, mainly panic attacks and basic miserableness (which I'm working on fixing now). Before 6th grade, I did great. Math, science, English... was all very easy to me.
Then in 6th grade things started going bad. I've been made miserble purposefully by most of my classmates for years. But I stuck it out. Then in 6th grade I started skipping because it was too hard around those people who hurt me all the time. And then I started enjoying the freedom and not doing all that work. So work started to become harder and I avoided doing it.
Now I feel useless and I actually want to get my education and go to college and all. The first step is to get my high school education. It's hard when I'm 18 and officially dropped out in 9th grade. (I hardly even did 7 and 8. I skipped a lot and they put me in 9th when I said I'd make an effort.) So I'm continuing my education through distance education.
I actually have been keeping up on brainy subjects because it interests me. I've been watching history and science documentaries for years and I've always loved books. The problem is that I have hardly been able to retain any of it in my head. I haven't been able to learn. I am doing all this mostly to learn (and to get ahead). But I just... can't remember how to learn. Hardly anything is getting in there anymore. What can I do? How do I learn?
If you really want to learn, try teaching yourself- get information from the web and library books and start projects on every suubject. Write down everything you learn in the project, but in your own words. This is the best way to memorise things. I know it sounds like a bore, but if you want to succeed in life this is actully the easy way. If not, try to get into a class for people who are not satisfied with thier old school grades.
Be serious about this, work your but off. This time now is the most important time for how you do in the future. Don't just say "this is boring, I'm not doing it". You can.

This kid in my school, Danny, he knows I had an eating disorder problem, so I lost a really lot of weight; but everytime he sees me he makes some sort of rude comment. They all tend to be toward my weight. For instance at lunch I asked my friend if they had any money I could borrow because I left mine at home, and he said something rude like "What for lunch? Looks like you've eaten enough". Which totaly goes over my head because I've lost about 60lbs since the begining of last summer. So, how should I confront him, or should I not even bother I know theres got to be a way to shut him up without having to bring the principal into it or anything like that. Or should I just resort to that?
Loosing 60lbs in less than half a year is an exellent achievment that you should be proud of, no matter what Danny says. It is likly that Danny has some other problem at home or he is just trying to impress his friends. Next time he makes a comment, ask him to repeat what he said. Often people are not brave enough to. If he does, let him know that you are proud of your phisical appearence,he shouldn't judge people on what they look like and the very notion of picking on someone because of their weight shows that he must have a serious problem. If he carries on, tell your teacher. Don't let him get you down!

My friend cuts herself. And it really scares me she talks about killing herself sometimes. Like she thinks no one would miss her. Sometimes I wanna kill myself too but I realize how many people would miss me. But she doesn't seem to realize that. She doesn't cut herself often like she only did once but I am just scared it might become a habit. What should I do? And its not that serious enough to tell anybody yet and she would get really mad if I told anyone. I don't plan on doing anything until it gets worse like i see marks on her arms. Don't leave it till you can see marks on her arms- talk to her NOW. Youv'e got to tell her how much everyone loves her- her parents, her friends, e.c.t. If she hit a vein by accident she would be likly to die. This IS serious. Recomend to her that she should email the self harm alliance for free on support@selfharmalliance.org. Act now and you could be stopping her commit suicide in the future.

You must tell other people- the police, her parents or gurdian/s, but most importantly make sure she knows that people love her and would miss her if she ever ran away or commited suicide. Do not on any acount go to her house and talk to her there, as you mentioned she was thinking about killing, thus she could be dangerous. Get the police to do it. Get everyone who loves her to tell her this. Act quickly.

ok so i have had my period for almost three years now and the first two were regular. But i had surgery in the begining of july and i had my period at the end of july. But after that i havent had it, its been 5 months and i know tis sounds crazy but i want it. It sso annoying not noing wen ur gonna get it. Is this normal after having surgery? if it is then y did i get it in july and not after?
I think that might be something to do with your body not having enough blood to lose any through your period. Its natural to worry- my period comes like every two or three months but lasts for about 10 days and hurts LIKE HELL. I would go to the doctor. Good luck, and if anyone has any advice 4 me (about my weird period) PLEASE tell me.

I weigh about 131 pounds and I'm 5'4 (I'm a female) I'm kinda curvy, but I would like to weigh around 115. Is this seriously a realistic weight? If so, how should I go about losing the weight in a healthy manner?
Yes, this is a realistic weight. To get it, try and aviod fried foods and exercise at least three times a week- hey-I go rowing four times a week, running 3 times a week and kickboxing 1ce a week and I feel great after every time, as if Iv'e really achived something. Exercise whenever you have any time spare. Join a sports club or gym. Buy a treadmill or whatever. Have fun, don't overdo it- go for it gal!!!:-)
