I have Bipolar 1 Disorder. I hate taking all these medications and always going to doctors appointments, but life is too short to let mental illness get the better of me.


Often times life is a challenge, and nobody knows that better than me. I wake up wondering if this is going to be a day my illness overpowers my meds, and either sends me flying like a bat out of hell, or leaves me laying on the couch like a wet dish rag.


Thank all that is good in the world that I have an excellent support system at home.

I'm honest, and that can either be a perk or s flaw. Depends on how you choose to look at it.

If you are talking about your best friend and your boyfriend knows her, and asks "Oh does she have a boyfriend?" Do you think it would just be conversation or that he's interested? And how do you deal with jealousy from this? Should I ask if he likes her? & if so, what should I say..?

Maybe he was asking because if she did he would feel less like a third wheel when you are hanging out together?
I would wager it was just for conversation.

I get severe migraines when I'm stressed out. Even if it's over something silly, like getting my errands done. I've tried excedrin migraine and aleve for my headaches, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone else who gets severe migraines have a quick fix for dealing with them?

Migraines are definitely bad news.

Your best bet is to set an appointment with your doctor. If over the counter medicines are doing you no good, then you probably need something from the pharmacy.

I know that isn't probably the quick fix you were looking for, but it is your best option.

Well, I would say probably not...

It seems guys look forward to losing it as soon as they can, whereas girls tend to be more sensitive about it by seeing it as something special.

Okay, so there is this guy. We'll call him Jim. Well me && Jim Have been off & on since last year. We were recently broken up for like 6 months. So we started to see other people. We didnt really talk ... so i started to like this kid "ben" and he likes me... but After jim broke up the girl he was seeing he told me that he missed me so much and how beautiful i looked now and that he wanted me back... i mean i still like him ALOTT but i dont know if i should or not . Okay, i have a close friend and we'll call her 1 and i have another friend who's not as close but we'll call her 2. Both of my friends go to my school. 2 was coming over my house that day and 2 and me gave 1 a ride home. I didn't invite 1 to come with me and 2 because i hadn't spent any time with 2 in a long time. The next day i noticed right away 1 wasn't talking to me. 1 was still talking to 2, but the next day 1 wasn't tallking to me or 2. About a week later 2 called 1 and a few days after that 1 and 2 were talking again, but me 1 was still not talking to me. 3 weeks past and me 1 was STILL not talking to me!! Then came the last day of school..The last bell rang and we went to the front of the school like we do everyday and alot of people we usually stand with had started crying. I was one of those people and so was 1 and 2. 10 minutes later i hugged 1 and we started crying even more than before, we both said sorry over and over while we were crying. Now we're talking , but i still am not sure exactly why 1 stopped taling to me. Do you? if you have any idea, let me know!![All three of us are girls and we're all 14.]

Well, how could we know what the deal is? We don't know 1, 2, or you.
What you need to do is ask 1. Only she can give you the answer you seek.

I had a brace 2 years ago, but all my teeth have moved back to how they originally were and I wore my retainer for like a year afterwards until it didn't fit anymore as my jaw changed shape.
I was wondering if there's anyway to get my straight teeth back without having another brace?!?

See your orthodontist about getting corrective retainers. That's pretty much your only other option.

i just got sunburn, pretty bad, about a day ago. i'm 14/f, pale skin. how can i make it go away faster? i've been using aloe spray to make it burn less. also, how can i make it turn into a tan without getting any more burnt? thanks

Well, as long as your skin is red from a burn, you should avoid direct sunlight until it heals, or it will only burn worse.
Keep using the aloe, and allow a couple of days for your skin to recuperate. That's about the best you can do. It will only heal as fast as it can.
I have fair skin, too, and I burn like a lobster if not careful...

I really like this girl. I talk to her a lot and I know she doesnt like me. I kind of tolds her and then said it was my sister. She is a really nice person and I just want her to like me. Realistically, you are wasting your time on her when you could be using it wisely with another girl who likes you in return and appreciates you.

You can't just make someone like you if they don't- romantic genius or not. Changing some one's feelings is like trying to change the past.

okay so i had to wash a few things in the washing machine. but by accident, i put fabric softener where the bleach is supposed to be (i dont need bleach) but is this okay? will it damage the clothes that are washing? thanks

Yah, I've done that before, too.
No, what happens is this: Your fabric softener is going to go into the laundry when the tub fills the first time- just like the bleach would.
All that will happen is your fabric softener is going to be washed out during the wash cycle instead of being put in during the rinse.
No biggie, and no worries.

I am a 24 year old student finishing my masters. I have been dating this guy for a year now, who is almost the perfect guy except he doesn't pay for anything, I mean nothing. I pay for $700.00 rent, power, cable, lots of dinners. Furthermore, he is an engineer and making o.k money; I feel that he is the perfect guy I just want to know why he wont help out. I dont want to lose him though. How can I make him see, that he is using me?

I'm sorry, but if he is using you, he is not worth your time and effort.
If he is using you, he damn well knows it, and likely enjoys being able to take advantage. It's called living on the gravy train.
With supporting both of you, you KNOW you can go out and support yourself- which I think would be a wise choice.
You deserve respect, and if he is using you, he has no respect for you. He just respects your money. Why bother keeping a guy like that around?
Come on. You deserve better than that.

Personally, I would stick my foot in his ass and ask for my shoe back as he walks out the door.

well, ever since i started to like guys, people have told me i have very "weird" taste in guys. Because of this, i've had this habit of concealing (very well i might add) who i like (by not looking them in the eyes, etc.). Now people are thinking i'm bi or a lesbian, and it's very obnoxcious because sometimes they don't believe me when i say i'm straight. And on top of all this, i've started doing these habits with guys i don't even like! I really need some tips on how i can stop this, because this weekend i'm seeing this guy i really like at a party and i want something to happen between us and i don't want to look like a freak with all my weirdish habits. lets say your close good friend is moving in 2 weeks and you decided to write a letter you've known her for like 2 years you guys talked a lot had classes together and when you guys had problems you guys had been there for each other and you guys get a long with her a lot what would you write her in a a letter? cause i need help on how to start a letter for a friend whos leaving and im really sad....but and i need example for a letter so what would you write?

I like the idea of writing a letter. To sit down and put a pen to paper seems more personal than an email. But either way, it is a very nice idea for you to do for your friend.
I can't tell you what to write in specifics, but I can tell you the best way to go about it is to sit back and reflect on all the good times you've shared. Write down each thought and memory as it comes to you.
For example: "Remember that time we had that sleep-over at your house and dah da dah..."
And: "I just don't know how class will ever be the same with you not there..."
And so on.
Then, when you are done, sign your name to it and give it to her.
A letter such as this doesn't have to be written in the traditional, professional, all neat and tidy fashion as one would write a letter, say, to the IRS or something. It can be just a page (or 10) filled with your thoughts, feelings, memories, good tidings. It's what you say that holds such meaning, not how you put it on the paper.
Hell, write every different thought on the paper going in different directions if you want. No need to write neatly on the lines as teacher has taught us...
This is something for you to be crafty with if you wish. It's special- something for you to put a lot of thought into and give it your own personal touch. See what I'm getting at?

I hope that gives you an idea.

ok, I know I'm a horrible person.. but I need your help. so, I am 15, and I have a boyfriend. I've been his girlfriend for 2 weeks and one day.. since then, we've hung out ONCE, and he call me ONCE, we've never kissed, we don't hold hands, but we do hug. He's never called me pretty, or complemented me in any way like that. I almost feel like I'm just a friend.

Then there is this other boy, who I hang out with almost every weekend, and we've been hanging out at lunch, in the library. He calls me every night right before we go to bed. He calls me beautiful, and cute all the time. He just recently broke up with his girlfriend, and I think he wants me to break up with my boyfriend.

I feel like my actual boyfriend is less of one than the other boy. I don't like my boyfriend as much as before, and I do like the other one, and he likes me back. The problem is, I'm going to feel bad if I dump him. I am his first girlfriend, and it only has been about 2 weeks. I don't know what to do, stay with him or break up?

Your boyfriend may not know exactly how he is supposed to act, since you are his first girlfriend, but you are by no means tied down to the boy.

Last night I was looking through a magazine and was reading an article on how to protect you skin from the sun and stuff. In the article it discribed different tyoes of cancerous moles. I've found two on my body (one on my cheek and one on my hip) and others that might be cancerous too that fit the discription and the picture it showed. I wanted to know if anyone could give me information about this. I haven't told anyone yet and I'm waiting until I get the information I need and If I really think I might have cancer then tell my family and go see a doctor. I was crying alot last night after I started thinking "Do I have cancer?" and didn't get much sleep. I'm really scared and need information.

Well... You need to go to the doctor and have them examined. THAT is where you will get the information you need.
Listen, I know a little bit about what cancer can do to a person. If you get it diagnosed early, they can operate. If you drag your feet about it, or don't know about it until it's too late and starts to spread to other parts of your body, it may become inoperable.
I'm not saying you have cancer, or anything- I'm not a doctor, so I'm not qualified to say "oh, you probably don't" or "oh, you probably do."
But what I AM saying, is that if it DOES happen to be skin cancer, just because it is in your skin doesn't mean it can't spread to your lung, bone, brain.
Go to the doctor and get the suspicious moles checked out. They will likely remove them and send them to a lab for biopsy.
Don't wait on things like this. If happens to be cancer, the sooner it is diagnosed, the better chances you have at having it go into remission.

Besides, think of how much better you'll feel if it all ends up being just an odd looking mole. Right?

I Was at the zoo today with my middle school and when we got there, there was so many people that wanted to get in, so there was a lot of pushing and shoving to get inside the zoo. My friend was in front of me and someone pushed me and I stepped on my friends heel. My guess is that her heel went in between my Right Foot ring toe and my pinky toe. It hurt but I thought it was nothing so I ignored it. Then after walking around it started hurting more. We went to the chaperones and told them. They gave me a pack of ice and 4 pills of Ibprofin. (sp?)

After holding the ice on my toe for a while, it started getting numb and i could walk normally because it didn't hurt. Then it would hurt again after a while, so i iced it more. We were at the zoo at 10am and left at 2:30pm and I would say about 3/4 of the time that we were there, i was icing my toe.

I am 14/f and I play volleyball and we have a big tournament next week and my dad is the assistant coach. I only have 2 more practices before we are done for the season. (1 practice tomorrow and 1 on Friday)

I don't think it's broken because I can move it, but it still hurts when I move it. It's swollen and hurts when I walk.

what can I do to make it better by tomorrow? if not tomorrow then as fast as possible.

Use medical tape, and tape it to the toe next to it. It helps keep it from moving around so much as it heals.
There really isn't much you can do other than that and what you already have been doing.
Other than that, there is no magic cure. You just have to allow it time to heal, and try to get by with it during your practice.

My boyfriend & I are sexually active. I've been on the pill for 5 days now. We are going to use a condom, but if the condom were to fail, will the pill help prevent me getting pregnant since I haven't been on it very long?

Well, depending on your birth control, it may take up to a week to get fully regulated through your system. Some nowhere near as long. Depends on what you are taking.
Using the condom is a wise choice, but remember it is 99% effective, so I would say there are slim chances for you to have worries between it and the amount of the birth control currently in your system.
I strongly advise for you to call your doctor or pharmacist with this question, and they will be able to give you accurate advice on how well your birth control is working for you at this point.
