Does this refer to the floppy drive? Will I be able to boot up if I disconnect the floppy drive?
I have to boot almost a dozen times using F1, F2, Alt Ctrl Delete and turning the computer off and on (Old Compaq Pentium 200) before desktop appears and connecting to ISP. (link)

Chop off all your limbs? Yeah 30 pounds in a week is incredibly unhealthy if at all possible. 1-3 pounds as the last person said is the healthy way to go. Diets don't work because as soon as you are off it, you gain the weight back. What works is a lifestyle change, a change in eating habits you can keep up indefinitely.

I was in the mood for something sweet, and found this box of Whoppers [the candy] in the cabinet. It's been in there for quite a while, not sure exactly, but maybe a month to a month and a half. I can't find an expiration date on them and when i google search it all i get is the Burger King hamburger...
i cut one open and it looks half hollow, not like in the picture on the box. I don't know how they're supposed to look but I don't want to take any chances. Can Whoppers expire or go bad?? (link)

Yeah they can, though not in a matter of months especially if they are closed. I had a large container of them that I forgot about and left open for a few months. I tried one, and it tasted OK, but it wasn't the least bit crunchy anymore, so as long as they are crunchy they haven't gone bad.

Basically, once a guy is in the general area, unless it has like razor sharp teeth, it really doesn't matter. If you are showering daily and taking care of yourself, it should smell/taste fine.

Is it normal for internet friends to last for as long as 6 years or longer? Do they usually end up meeting after a while? I have a friend who met this girl on Runescape when he was like 11 and they're still friends; he's 17 right now. I remember my internet friends only lasted a few months at the most...I just ended up changing my address and forgot to tell them... (link)

Most of my internet friendships only lasted a short while, a few however did last in the 6 year range. I did end up meeting one of them, but that was actually an accident and we didn't plan to meet.

I'm in a relationship with double standards. I have a standard set on me to not talk to guys who use to like me who are now just good buddies to have, yet I let her talk to all her buddies (she has more than me) who use to like her in that way and those are her close friends. All four+ guys I let her continue to talk to because I think it's wrong to keep friends apart for selfish reasons. I tried to reason with her, but it all blew up in my face. It's either her way or the highway. This isn't the only standard I have, it's other things also. I can't even bring it up without her leaving me. I tell her that these standards set on me actually hurt me, I'm not happy that I can't talk to my only friends. Her only friends are people that use to or still like her in that romantic way. I don't know have to compromise or fix this without the opportunity cost being her. (link)

This really does not seem like a healthy relationship to me. Even without the double standard, if she is trying to keep you apart from your friends its a bad thing. If she refuses to listen to reason, then I would just ignore her, and if she confronts you over it, tell her flat out that you aren't willing to end your friendships for her. If she is threatening to break up with you for even bringing up a discussion, then she isn't a good person to be in a relationship with.

I'm 18/f, going away to college for nusing in the fall. I need a new laptop but I'm not sure what to get? (Please don't suggest a Mac, too expensive with too much stuff I don't need).
What it needs to have is: Lots of storage for music/picture files, a nice easy keyboard, possibly a built in webcam? (if not, it won't be a problem), lightweight for traveling but sturdy enough to not get destroyed and be reasonably priced (maybe around $700? or less haha). (link)

If you order online from the HP site, they let you customize pretty much everything. You can get everything you need, and a decent price. If you have a Costco near you, I recommend using them (their site has an HP customizer as well) because they have a really good return policy if something goes wrong in the first 3 months.

I am a 16 year old girl who's constantly surrounded by rumors and gossip. At first when it all started, two years ago, I was completely confident and able to handle ALL of it. Until a few weeks ago my best friend's ex boyfriend made up rumors that we slept together because he asked me out and I refused to go out with him.
Now at my all girls school, everyone looks at me strangely and talk to me less. Sometimes when I walk through the school I hear them talking about me. Although my best friends, who I've known since we we're babies are still hang out with me, but they still don't believe me.
And all my friends outside of school continuously ridicule me. I literally can't even walk my dog around the neighborhood without someone calling the word s***.
I am SURROUNDED by it and I've practically lost all my friends. I really don't know what to do, NO ONE believes me. I've been through things like this before but it hasn't gotten to such an extreme point where I can't even be seen in public. And I don't know what to do with my friends, I have tried EVERYTHING. Talking to them, proving to them and I don't know what to do and please don't tell me, 'Well if they don't believe you there obviously not your friend'. Besides apart from them I REALLY have no one. Just a little warning, any comment on his penis with yield the question "how would you know?" Saying you didn't want to go out with him because of such might also have the problem of people thinking that all you care about. A smear campaign IS a good idea, but you have to be careful with what you use. Maybe say you were hanging out with him, and all the sudden he peed his pants and ran off?

I've heard that universities favour higher marks in the academic classes for science rather than an average mark in the advanced classes, is this mostly true? And does anyone know why? (link)

Because if you take a harder class and do poorly, it means you are a bad judge of your own abilities. Sure there could be other reasons, but that's how they would see it. It depends though, my high school and college had a sort of relationship, where certain advanced classes would be weighted the same as AP classes. If you get a B in an advanced science class its likely to be seen as quite similar to an A- in a regular class, however your GPA and SAT scores will likely be the very first thing the admissions board looks at.

My ex and i have been on and off.
The first time we dated we went to the same school but slowly drifted apart. we broke up then later i moved to my mothers house, he asked me out again and i said ok, but it was long distance and i never really got to see him.All was good until one night he sent me a message saying "i dont know why i asked you out again but i 100% dont have feelings for you anymore". I was crushed.
Im now back at my dads and we are both attending the same school again. He said he was sorry and i forgave him. I still like him, but hate myself for it. One day hes really nice then the next he hardly talks to me. What should i do? His parties coming up and i heard he was going to invite me should i go?
he acts asthough he still has feelings for me, and brings up are history alot. But is he just using me because he thinks he can have me back easily?
To make matters worse his brother dated my sister for 6 months and they lost there vaginity to each other. HELP

It's possible he just couldn't handle the long distance relationship, and the feelings went away, and now that he's seen you again they have come back. It's also likely that he just wants to be friends. Either way, I'd say if he invites you to his party you should go. If he tries to get you back, ask what happened between now and him being 100% over you. If not, assume he is just trying to be friendly.

okay my mom had to set our cookie settings on our computer to prompt in order to get to this website for her online classes. Well we left it on prompt so everytime a cookie would ask permission to save on our computer a icon would pop sayin block, allow and so on. I was logging into my myspace and one popped up. I blocked it and now i cant log in. I tried logging into my facebook and another one popped up, it said something about the cookie being needed to allow logging information to be processed or something or other, The myspace one had said the same thing. I allowed the facebook one and i could log in. Is there anyway i can reset my computer or internet to allow that cookie in so i can log into my myspace? (link)

I recently saw my daughter left her email open when she left for school one morning. Obviously I looked at her emails and saw a boy's name that I did not recognize. I was excited, thinking she had gotten herself her very first boyfriend, and opened the email up to read for myself.
The boy is not from this town though. The boy is actually on the other side of the country. They, apparently, have been talking for a number of weeks, if not months, about all sorts of things. I don't know how they first came in contact with each other but there are lots of emails and they have been chatting on IM based on the email content.
I am worried because of internet preditors becoming more common now. The boy signs his emails with:

I can't help but wonder if he had her into believing they are romantically involved or something. I'm worried she might be wanting to actually go and meet this guy! I want to keep her safe from these strangers but I don't want her to resent me for it right now. What steps should I take on stopping this behavior? OK firstly, your daughter is not much more likely to meet a predator online than she is anywhere else. Secondly, you crossed a line. Sure, privacy is a privilege, not a right and whatnot, but you say "obviously I looked" which it shouldn't be. People talk to strangers online all the time, that's what the internet is for, meeting people with similar interests to you, its no different than going to a bar or club or whatever. People sign their emails with luv all the time, I doubt that means anything either. Now, as safe as it probably is, I see why you would be worried about her going out to meet this guy, just like I am sure you will be worried when she starts dating and goes out on a date with a guy you haven't met, and if you think about it, this is safer. This guy is across the country, what could he do? Unless she is over 18, there really isn't a way she could get to him without you knowing, and if he is a predator, he would have a much easier time getting someone in his own zipcode and would have no need to talk to your daughter.
Despite all I've said, I see where you are coming from. You should have a discussion with her about basic internet safety, not giving out her address and such, because you do that enough times and you will eventually run into a weirdo, but trust can develop over time, even over the internet.

I'm a 15 female and I've been dealing with depression and confusion with my gender its been this way since i was real young i just don't feel, act, or even think like a girl. I'm pansexual meaning I'm gender blind i don't juge people by their genders because of the problem I've been dealing with. I talked to my mom about how I'm feeling but she doesn't take me seriously she only says we can PROBLEY change my name other than that she doesn't bring it up, and I'm to scared of her juging me that i keep quiet its already hard enough for me to open up so i can't turn to anyone for help. I want a sex change but i don't have much money. People tell me not to go through with it cause i might change my mind but i have no doubts and i just want to feel happy sometimes i lay in bed and cry all night just thinking about this. Firstly, since you are fifteen, it actually is possible (but unlikely) that you will change your mind. Still, you know what you want, and there was a story recently about a German boy becoming a girl at 12. The lack of money is an issue given how expensive this type of procedure is, and I don't know your location or how accepting people in your life would be, but the best advice I can give you is just start calling yourself a boy. You can start dressing as such if that is what you want, and dating as such, though that runs into issues with the other person's sexuality, you might just have to stick to the gay community, but then, that could be an issue either way since many straight people could have a problem dating a transsexual. I know a couple people that used gender pronouns and dress of the opposite gender. It's not a permanent solution but it's something you can do now, and it might show your mom how serious you are.

I am planning to attend Tulane University this fall and was hoping to qualify for a large scholarship. They already awarded me $25,000 a year on merit, but my family was hoping for some need-based money as well. According to their website, Tulane offers students with families making under $75,000 a year complete, loan-free tuition. We though we qualified! Both the FAFSA and the CSS profile were turned in on time, but I just received my aid offer and there is no need-based scholarship whatsoever. I didn't qualify for anything but loans and work-study. How is this possible? Both my parents are unemployed and over retirement age; we cannot afford to pay the remaining $25,000 a year without more aid! So what should I do now?
Should I try contacting Tulane's financial aid office? If I do contact them, how likely is it that they will increase my scholarship? Any advice on what to do, including outside sources for tuition money or colleges with low tuition/generous aid packages, would be greatly appreciated. (link)

If you are not even getting the federal need based ones it might not even have been the colleges decision. The budget has really been cut. You definitely should go into the office and see if they can recommend anything else you can do. You can also try a scholarship search engine. There are a lot of really random scholarships out there, like ones for people who live on streets named after presidents. It's possible the office made a mistake, so you should definitely go in and talk to them.
