I got the Sims 3 today and I took the time to download it and when I went to go run it, it said that I didn't have the right video card and to check my hardware system. I have Service Pack 3 so it shouldn't have anything to do with that because the Sims 3 requires Service Pack 2. I also have plenty of space on my computer to download it. Does anyone know what could be wrong with this? I spent $50 and I would hate to not be able to use it. (link)
|
To me, this sounds like your video card itself needs to be replaced with something more high-quality. I remember when The Sims 3 came out and people were upset because their video cards in their laptops weren't high enough quality to be able to play the game. I am absolutely no computer expert, but, from what I'm aware of, your video card doesn't really have anything to do with what service pack you might have on Windows XP. I could be wrong though, I suppose.
Fortunately, this problem can easily be fixed if it's that your video card is not up to standard for the game.
Here is a list of the video cards that are acceptable to run The Sims 3 with:
http://www.simprograms.com/the-sims/the-sims-3/the-sims-3-tutorials/the-sims-3-tutorial-replacingadding-your-video-graphics-card/#supportedcards
You should call your local computer shop and ask the technicians about upgrading your video card to run The Sims 3. I'm sure they've handled this problem a few times before.
I'm not entirely sure how much a new video card is going to cost you, but I wouldn't be surprised it was $100 or more (plus the cost of the actual installation service, mind you). You might want to ask the computer shop if they have a used video card that meets the standards for this game and if they'd sell it to you for a wee bit cheaper.
In any way, your computer guys can give you an estimate before you bring it into the shop in regards to costs, may allow you to make payments on the work, or may be able to give you a quick tip or word of advice on getting this problem handled for a lower-cost.
Just, as a reminder:
SIMS 3 REQUIREMENTS FOR WINDOWS XP
* 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
* 1 GB RAM
* 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
* The latest version of DirectX 9.0c
* Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
* At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games.

So a friend of mine asked me out last month, and I said yes (He's the drummer in my rock band). Two weeks ago, we were hanging out at his house and he kissed me. As embarassing as this sounds, I got really nervous was kind of... unresponsive. I know that you're supposed to kiss them back, but I honestly didn't know what to do. My mind just blanked out. He said that he could tell I was really nervous.
This past Thanksgiving break he didn't ask me out on a date even though we had the whole week off and I know for a fact that he wasn't busy. He calls me up regularly to talk, but this isn't too different from the way he behaved before we started going out (and he does that with lots of his other friends).
I went over to his house for band practice and today he invited me over to hang out, but with a couple of our other friends from school. Sometimes he puts his arm around me, but still, he didn't ask me out on a date.
Also, when we first started dating he said he wanted to tell all of his friends about it because it's not as fun to have a girlfriend if you're keeping it a secret. But today, after some kids went home, my best friend Cameron asked him why he hasn't told his mom about us going out. He replied that he was afraid his mom might be annoying and awkward about it... even though he's had no problem telling his mom about other girlfriends in the past.
So... just based on what I've described, is he not attracted to me anymore?
(link)

He may feel you rejected him slightly. You need to talk to him if you want the relationship to continue. He may have not been nervous before, but could be shaking inside with fear that YOU dislike HIM now.
Sit down alone together and talk about what happened. I know it's embarrassing. Tell him that you felt embarrassed by your lack of appropriate reaction. Just explain that it happened so suddenly you weren't sure what you should be doing. You like him, you want to have a close relationship, but it was kind-of new to you and caught you off-guard. Apologize if it hurt his feelings. Explain to him that you DO want kisses, hugs, dates, and cuddles with him as often as possible. It's just that you need to get warmed up to those sorts of things so that you can break that friendship barrier that is holding you back from jumping in and enjoying the relationship together.
If it bothers you that he hasn't asked you out on another date recently then ask him about it. Just be honest with him. "I felt like you weren't interested in me any longer because you didn't ask if I wanted to see you over the break after you made it clear that you wouldn't be busy. Maybe that's silly of me to think but I just felt like I screwed a bunch of stuff up by not reacting right when you kissed me. I want you to like me and I want this to work." It could be as simple as him saying, "Well, I didn't want to ruin your plans for the week since it's a holiday thing. I didn't mean to make you feel like I wasn't interested. I was just trying to give you a little space for family time." Voila. Honestly, straight-forward answer. No more guessing games or assumptions to be made.
His past girlfriends could have caused issues with his mother and his relationships. Just because he told her about his ex-girlfriends doesn't mean it's a good idea right now in such an early part of this relationship. People grow up and learn from past mistakes. Maybe before he told his mother about a girlfriend early into the relationship and it was embarrassing when they broke up right away. Maybe his mother is pushy about some certain subjects that he'd rather not talk about with her just yet. If you're really, truly concerned then talk about it. Communicate, communicate, communicate!
"I noticed you really haven't said anything to your mom about us. I don't want you to be embarrassed that I'm your girlfriend or something. I know we just started dating not too long ago, too. Is there a reason you don't want your mom knowing about me just yet? I'd really like to get to know her and have her like me as your girlfriend and it kind of makes that difficult if we're trying to hide our relationship from her."
Open up.
He probably isn't unattracted to you all of a sudden. He might just be embarrassed or suddenly nervous by your lack of reaction to the straight-forward kiss. He may be afraid to "go further" with the relationship in fear that YOU are not interested in HIM now. Open up. Sit down. Talk to him.

my dog ate an entire bag of Reese Peanut butter Cups. What should i Do? (link)
|
Call your local veterinarian or pet clinic immediately. Explain what happened and about how much chocolate your furry friend consumed before you caught the issue. The animal clinic may want the dog to come in for observation, fluids, or even to induce vomiting if they feel it's necessary.
Waiting until the dog "shows signs" of being poisoned is one of the worst things you can do without being advised by a professional. Many times an animal won't show signs of distress until bodily functions begin to cease and things are becoming severe--possibly irreversible or when death is imminent.
Chocolate doesn't always kill dogs but it's quite a possibility. Don't wait it out. Call the vet. and see what they have to say. If they feel your canine companion will be okay if you keep an eye on him then do as they direct. They're likely to want you to bring him in to check things over though. Just because -you- don't see physical signs of harm doesn't mean the dog is okay.

I'm a 18 year old college kid with no income and I can't afford to pay $50+ every month for brand name BC pills. I was wondering if anyone is taking a generic brand for Loestrin 24 Fe and how it is (Any negative side effects, weight gain, etc.) and what the name for it is.
If not for Loestrin 24, just any generic brand BC pills (name please)
Thanks =] (link)
|
It is currently under the protection of patents that prevent any generic Loestrin 24 Fe from being manufactured in the United States. The first patent for Loestrin 24 Fe currently expires in July 2014. However, Warner Chilcott, the creators of this hormonal birth control pill, has an agreement with Watson Pharmaceuticals that will permit Watson to make a generic version as early as January 2014.
Your best bet is to talk with your doctor about making the contraceptive switch. You can't just magically stop one birth control pill and pick up another one without worry of side effects or other changes. Many pills are taken entirely different ways. Many have higher or lower dosages of synthetic hormones.
The generic forms, typically, do the basic things the name-brand forms do. There shouldn't be any noticeable difference in changing from a name-brand to a generic form.
"FDA regulations state that generics must contain the same medicines as the brand-name versions. The medicine must be absorbed by the body at the same rate and in the same amount. Basically, generic drugs must work just like the brand-name ones. It's just that the pills and packages look different. Sometimes, you'll need a bit of technical knowledge to see that the medicines really are the same: the brand name one might list ingredients in micrograms, while the generic uses milligrams.
In spite of the FDA regulations, patients and doctors occasionally report different results from generic vs. brand name pills. This may have to do with the "vehicle" the medicine is delivered in; although the drug is the same, the other ingredients in the pill might be different. Most of the time, though, you won't notice any difference.
One particular concern about generic birth control prescriptions is that the actual amount of medication in each pill might vary more than in brand name medicines. Actually, this hasn't been well studied. The FDA says that the medication should be equivalent to the brand-name version. If it's true that there is a bigger difference from pill to pill, however, it could cause side effects in women who are sensitive to hormone variations."

Talk with your doctor.
Here are some generic brands of hormonal contraceptive pills:

its from first response, an in-home thing. how accurate is it? thanks (link)

Okay, apparently some people do not understand the difference in fertility testing versus home pregnancy testing. Wow. I should have totally answered this one sooner. Sorry about that.
Fertility tests are about 90% accurate, based upon the listing within the pamphlet insertion. It isn't as simple as just saying, "It's likely to be correct," though. Fertility tests can be a little more complicated than just peeing on a stick once or twice as a person does with a pregnancy test.
You should purchase the fertility tests that have the most testing sticks. I am thinking they come in packs of 20 some or 30, or so. This is so that you can test every single day you aren't on your period to see if you have ovulated. You start taking the tests every single morning from the day your period ends until the day your period begins again.
Test your first morning urine. As soon as you wake up, pee on the stick. Do just as directed. Some need 5 minutes to give an accurate read. It will tell you what things mean. Mine showed 2 lines if I had ovulated and 1 line if I hadn't.
One month doesn't tell you how your cycle is though. On average, a woman doesn't even ovulate 2 months out of the typical year. So, you could very well take the fertility testing this month, never get a "positive" result, and assume you never ovulate. It wouldn't be accurate though.
The same goes with fluctuations.
The ovulation or menstrual cycle isn't always 100% stable. Every second or third month you, yourself, may ovulate 1 day later than the other months.
This is why it's important to test for 6 months straight. You get an idea of, "Oh, I nearly always ovulate on day 14!" or, "Oh, every other month I ovulate on day 12, but, otherwise, it's day 14." I know it doesn't sound like a day or two makes a big difference, but when you're trying to get pregnant (or not get pregnant) it's a huge deal.
So, 90% is their guesstimate that it will be fairly accurate based on the rest of your cycle, if you are a typical woman. There is at least the 10% chance that this particular month your cycle was completely different, you know?
There are a lot of things that could be different for you though. I, personally, ovulate much later than other women (and I would have never guessed). Some women ovulate more than once a month. Some women only ovulate every other month. Some women ovulate very early into their cycle. Heck, some women ovulate during their periods (uncommon, but happens). You could be a woman who ovulates on day 14 this month, but for the next 3 months you ovulate on an entirely different date, you know?
It's important to follow the testing through if you're serious about figuring our your "most fertile day."
If you don't take the testing for the full month then I'm sure the percentage of accuracy is lower.
If the test reads a clear positive then it's fairly accurate.
If the test doesn't read positive for an entire month then you could have purchased something defective.
Obviously there are a lot of factors. If you take the testing for a solid 6 months, every day you aren't menstruating, then you'll have a WONDERFUL idea of your own cycle. Every woman should know their bodies in this sense!
|
So I had unprotected sex about two weeks ago (I know, really stupid) and I wasn't on any birth control. I took Plan B within 4 hours of having sex.
When should I take a pregnancy test? I can't rely on my period because it's always been really irregular (to the point where I'd skip a few months and have up to 2 periods a month). (link)
|
Implantation can occur as early as 7 days after unprotected sex. It will, typically, take another few days before hCG levels begin to actually increase and hormonal fluctuations occur. It can take about another week for enough hCG to increase enough to be detected by an over-the-counter home pregnancy test.
Some women will be able to detect pregnancy hormones very, very early into pregnancy. We're talking on day 9 after unprotected sex a pregnancy test can read out positive.
In rarer cases, some women may go months without seeing a positive pregnancy test result. In high school I knew a girl who had gotten pregnant. Every single urine test she ever took, even near the end of her pregnancy, said negative. We're talking about, her waddling around and everything. Oddly enough, her blood pregnancy tests did show positive for higher hCG levels, so I suppose it's pretty rare to go so long without a positive.
For accuracy sake, take a pregnancy test about 14 days after having unprotected sex. By then the hormonal levels should have increased enough to be able to tell if you're pregnant. If you get a negative result and your period never arrives then you can take a test a week after that up until you feel it's time to see a doctor.
So, give it something like 2 weeks after you had sex and give it a shot.

how do i put 2 pisture as 1?without puting it on top of eachother?

Invest in Adobe Photoshop (at adobe.com/products/photoshop/compare/) and take a few course classes for the program. Another program, GIMP (found at GIMP.org), can do the same thing for free, but it can be more difficult to catch onto and use properly.
Someone else, on another site, says:
Upload both pictures onto your computer.
Open the Powerpoint program.
With a blank canvas "paste" both photos.
Slide the pictures close together.
Start at the top corner to click and drag the mouse over both images.
They should be "highlighted" (box around them).
Right click the picture and click to "group" them.
Now it is one picture (you can drag it and everything)!
Right click again and do all the saving.
Upload the image wherever you'd like.
If that fails, search online for someone who will photoshop your two images into one for low-cost or no-cost. Many people would be willing to alter this sort of photo for free though.

Can you get an STD from using public restrooms at sports arenas?
(link)
|
Update: All of the below information is related to ALL STDs. I only wrote out HPV because of a previous answer. If it makes you feel better replace "HPV" with "various STD strain". HPV is NOT like cancer. IT IS NOT CANCER. It does not come out of no where. There are strains of HPV and it is considered to be a STD. It causes genital warts, can cause cancer, lesions, infertility, and a slew of other issues. It very much IS an STD that you can catch from people via sexual contact.
You contract HPV from sexual interaction.
STDs = sexually transmitted diseases
So, HPV is an STD because it's transmitted through sexual actions, usually.
No STD dies instantly outside of the body. None of them. The answer below relates to any STD you'd like to question. None are going to die instantly so it doesn't hurt to take a bit of extra precaution, though, usually not necessary.
---
I answered this sort of thing before in regards to HPV, specifically. My answer really still applies to this particular situation about STDs in general. I will go on and copy and paste the information I had found before for another user:
---
Well, according to this about.com website, you cannot contract HPV through public toilet seats:
"Fortunately, this is a myth, but still remains a common belief among many people. The human pappillomavirus (HPV) cannot be transmitted through sitting on a toilet seat. Because viruses cannot survive long outside of the body, HPV cannot be transmitted this way."
From: http://cancer.about.com/od/hpv/f/HPVtoiletseat.htm
HPV is transmitted through sexual skin-to-skin contact from an infected partner. No penetration is required to contract HPV. HPV can be transmitted through:
vaginal intercourse
anal intercourse
oral sex
touching your infected partner's genitals and then your own
sharing sex toys with an infected person without disinfecting first
genital-to-genital contact (same or opposite sex)
I do know that HPV can live in your fingernail (and toenail) beds so you have to really scrub those up well. I am not sure why they didn't include "fingering" on their list. Since the website says:
"viruses cannot survive long outside of the body"
The word "long" implies that they can survive out of the body for a short period of time. This does sound like it technically possible to contract HPV from a freshly-used toilet seat. Try to not come in contact with toilet seats and always use a paper protector if you cannot squat properly above. It's better to be safe than sorry, in my opinion.
As a note, if you cannot do either, bring some hand-sanitizer in your purse or pocket. Take some of that and apply it to some toilet paper and quickly "wash" off the seat. Many women do this simply because the thought of the unwashed toilet seat even coming close to them is icky.
So, in short, the answer seems to be no but you should still be on the safe-side in case a few of the HPV cells survive by the time you go into the stall.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me! :)

ok so i really want this shirt and cant find it anywhere!! some one help

This actually isn't just a skeleton or skull t-shirt. It is from a band. It's the Misfits logo type thing, really.
The Misfits skull:
http://www.oztix.com.au/Portals/10/The%20misfits.gif
So, you just want to find a Misfits t-shirt then.
Hot Topic has Misfits band t-shirts:
http://search.hottopic.com/clothing/Misfits%20Shirt
Any place locally that sells band t-shirts will probably have the Misfits. If you want to purchase online simply type in "Misfits Shirt" into Google and be astonished by the number of buy-now results.
I have to say though, I, personally, would not wear a band t-shirt without having at least listened to their music before. While you might think the skull is just attractive, it is a fashion statement that says, "I am a fan of the Misfits!" If you aren't a fan then you really shouldn't make other people have the impression of you.

I just found out that I'm pregnant. Twins run in my family like crazy. I'm not a twin myself though. I was pregnant once before (miscarried) and I did have some morning sickness but not like this. I feel like 5 times sicker with this pregnancy. I have a doctor's appointment next week to make sure everything is okay. I was kind of wondering if maybe I'm pregnant with twins and that's why I feel more sick? When a woman is pregnant with twins does she feel different than with a single pregnancy? (link)
|
Many times: Yes.
You may also see more weight gain, have more morning sickness, have more mood swings, and notice basic changes in your overall health. Your body produces enough hormone to keep multiple babies alive. The body has to change things around to accommodate TWO extra lives instead of your usual one.
Make sure you talk with your doctor if you are pregnant with multiples. Remember you will be eating, drinking, and taking care for three people then. Don't be afraid to have an extra glass of water or bite of dinner.
If your morning sickness is severe, lasts for a very long time, or is accompanied by other complications then see your doctor immediately.

why do singers not go to west virginia (link)
|
Being as I've lived in WV before, it is just the area. Not many people are willing to dish out cold hard cash to go see a rock band perform. The towns are fairly small and if you're not a country singer then you're kind of SOL in getting a venue filled for your entertainment. Even then, some of the older folks only prefer bluegrass. Some people, even the younger generations, only prefer "older" country rather than the newer versions.
It can be hard to please the public and have them come out to your venue to pay money to see you. WV, as a whole, is fairly poor. Not many people want to toss away $50 to see Toby Keith dance around and sing for 2 hours when they can just turn on the television and still enjoy the music.
So:
Small areas (not large enough places to draw big enough crowds)
Poor people (low on "spending money")
Social disagreements (based upon their music likes)

For Biology class, we have to pick ANY book relating to biology and write a book report on it. I'm not a cutter but I thought this would be intersting to present.
But my orginal book was The Hisotry of Mono (can't recall full name) and he allowed that one so I didn't tell him of this one. It's pretty simple and FAQ by Teens about it too so how can I convince him that it has to do with Biology? It's mroe of just...why they do it, ways of doing it, and how to stop. (link)
|
This sounds more like psychology or, in the larger picture in regards to social interaction, sociology to me.
Biology is the study of living organisms. This includes their structures, functions, growth, origins, evolutions, etc. We're talking about life-cycles here.
Sociology is more the study of human social behavior. This includes social norms.
Psychology is the study of behavior and mind. This includes personality traits.
So, while you could push it to something about "cells interacting with each other" in biology, biology doesn't really touch on personality, social interaction, social norms, or human behavior.
I, personally, would sit down with your instructor and talk about this sort of thing. Express to him how much you really want to figure out a way that this book would be acceptable for this assignment. Remember that he's gone to school for many, many years and may say, "Uh...that just isn't biology. That isn't what we do in this class. I'm sorry, it just doesn't fit."
Ask for some suggestions from him. He may be able to point out a couple of books that are interesting to you and suit this project requirement.
A person who self-harms does so based on their behavior, mental decisions, and emotional frustration. Not because it's what humans, cells, or lifeforms do.
So, I can't really help you in stretching this out and fabricating some way to convince an instructor to believe this is about biology ;) but I do highly suggest you talk with him now, show interest in doing a job well done, and ask for her personal suggestions and ideas. He may end up saying, "Well...I guess if your thesis was about this and this in the book then it would be acceptable..." But, from where I look at it, this book just isn't suited for this project.
|
Ok I know that there are probably Zero doctors or therapist on here, but I'm hoping that there are high school
and college students on here:) & I know nobody can actually diagnosis this, but I just want an opinion
of what she may have or advice how to handle her.
My friend Lauren has a lot of problems. Her mother died when she was young. She is a huge huge huge liar. To the
point, I don't even think she knows the difference between her lies and the truth. She has made up multiple different
people and will text guys pretending to be these girls. She will talk to them for a long time, actually I think she is still talking to a few. Last may she was put into the
hospital for having a eating disorder. She almost
died. She has gained almost all the weight back. She can be very loud and has never had a problem going
up to a random guy and telling him he's hot.
I don't understand her at all. She's one of
my best friends, but I can't figure her out.
I want to know if anyone is in or was in any pysch classes, types of disorders I could look up that it might be.
Also, how do I handle this girl, in general. (link)
|
Without actually sitting down with the girl and having a real session for proper evaluation, anything anyone supplies here cannot be considered as a real, factual diagnosis. Essentially, we can only take a wild guess, or, as they say, a stab in the dark. Therapists cannot properly diagnose without having the patient one-on-one because there may be things you do not reveal that she would, including very large factors.
This could be anything from sociopathic behavior to the swings that accompany the bipolar diagnosis. The girl may be severely depressed, disassociated from life, or even have a mental handicap. She may even suffer from a multiple personality disorder that you haven't discovered yourself yet (or that she, herself, is not even aware of at this time).
If she has been in treatment for an eating disorder then, chances are, she has had a few diagnosis to deal with from her personality traits. She may even have been prescribed medication to take to calm her strong personality and chooses not to take them. This isn't up to us to really figure out.
Keep your distance. Don't get too attached to the girl. Recognize that she has a problem and don't fall for traps she may lead you into. Remember that she is, likely, not mentally capable of rational thought at this time so keep a head about yourself and mind your own actions. Handle her as if she were a distant friend. Be kind to her, but know that you cannot place your trust completely in her until she become more mentally, and emotionally, stable. You cannot force her into treatment. You cannot make her suddenly change. Just keep your distance, stay on her good side, and think things over of what she says before going along with her ideas, suggestions, or comments.
Remember that many sociopaths feel the world revolves around them and will use you while they can before stepping all over you. People with bipolar disorder can wreak havoc on your own emotions. A person with multiple personalty disorder may never know they have a problem, and, thus, may not be entirely responsible (not legally speaking; legally it's one body, one crime) for some of their actions. A depressed person may act irrationally and cause you to fall into their downward spiral. Be smart, talk to a therapist about YOU if YOU think YOU need it, and stay on the good side of people, in general.

How do you work at a cash register?
How do you work at a cash register?
I know how to count money and press buttons, but I never worked at a register. How do I know what to press when someone says they want a number 3 off of a menu or something. How do I know the prices to put in the register when people say they want something? (link)
|
Every store has their own way of processing transactions on their computerized software system connected to a basic cash register. This is why a person usually does a week or more of training on a cash register before they are allowed to work alone on the system. Accidents always happen, and with training, you become comfortable with a system.
I would be shocked to hear of an employer not allowing new hires train on a register system before making them work on it all alone. Some fast food places do encourage self-training after they let you assess the manual and watch other employees work the register, but there is always someone willing to help provide answers if you get stuck.
There is definitely no way we can tell you how to process a transaction unless you gave us a specific store and we had experience at that location. Sometimes even places like McDonald's have different ways of doing different transactions even though they are all over the world.
Most fast food locations will have a button for a menu item. You will look up the name, abbreviation, or picture and simply select it. Some other places, like stores, have special code numbers to type into the register system.
Relax, take a deep breath, open your eyes, and listen when you are in your training mode. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Can you get pregnet from giving someone a blow job (link)
|
No.
You can only get pregnant if the sperm comes in contact with your vagina. If you put the sperm from your mouth on your hands then to your vagina then there might be a possibility but swallowing sperm is not going to get you pregnant.
The stomach, where food is digested, has absolutely nothing to do with your uterus, where babies grow. They are not connected in any way so sperm are not able to travel from the stomach to the uterus (aka "womb").
You can still contract a multitude of STDs and STIs from engaging in oral sex. Choose your partner(s) carefully and then use a condom to help lower the risks of contracting an unknown STD from the partner. Get tested regularly and require all partners to do the same--even if all you're doing is oral sex. Oral sex spreads disease just like sex so take care of yourself.

You need to see your gynecologist. Just because you're a virgin doesn't mean you shouldn't be having your regular yearly check-ups. It's actually recommended that a woman begin seeing her "female" doctor once a year once she begins menstruation.
Your problem may be linked to a variety of problems. You may have something called endometriosis. You may have uterine fibroids. You may have ovarian cysts. You may have cancerous cells. You may have a pelvic infection.
When cramping is so severe that it disrupts your daily life and usual activities then it's time to seek out professional help. Since over the counter anti-inflammatories aren't helping things then this may be a serious, progressing condition that needs immediate treatment.
Please make an appointment with your gynecologist immediately. Explain to them that your periods have become irregular within the past few months and that you have such severe, debilitating cramps associated with your menstruation.
When your body is in pain like this it means something is not working right. Something has gone wrong, somewhere. You need help to get this under control. Nothing I could tell you could fix this. Someone needs to examine you, have bloodwork drawn up, do an ultrasound, and figure out what is happening all of a sudden. This is, obviously, progressing quite rapidly. Stop waiting around for it to get better. It likely will continue to worsen.
This isn't something to wait about. You very well could need immediate surgery, strong antibiotics, or other medical assistance. Don't be afraid to pick up the phone and ask for help. If, for some reason, you cannot afford to wait or for a doctor's visit then go to the nearest emergency room. The ER can help you get the pain under control until long-term treatment is available for you via a regular doctor's exam. This IS something that merits an ER trip so don't be afraid to get to the hospital and get help.

I dont know you but you are the type of person that makes the world a horrible place for most people! With your know it all attiude about life and completely shallow point of view! I read your answer about someone commenting suicide... I have to tell you that you are so wrong on all points it sickens me! A person at their end should and does have the right to end their life with dignity and respect! And saying that a three year old boy dies because doctors had to work on someone who took an over dose of pills is even sicker!
You are a cancer on humanity you should eat a bullet!
Ass hole !!! Fuck you and you neo Nazi christian beliefs (link)
|
Thank you for expressing your opinion to me. I truly appreciate it, and will consider your own personal point of view in my answers here on Advicenators.
The truth is, suicide isn't just about the person committing the act. You know this, I know this, and the rest of the world knows this--even if we choose to overlook that. To pretend that a person's suicide won't affect anything or anyone at all is absurd. I try to answer questions with realistic life situations. I'm not entirely sure what sort-of health-care profession you must be in to merit the idea that it is beyond belief for a child to pass away from another person's selfish acts, but watching a young, innocent child die because a doctor was busy with a surviving suicide victim is a pretty sad thing to witness.
There is a great deal of help for someone who feels their life is not worth living. There are a great many things a person can do to improve life and life experiences. To give up when you feel you are lowest isn't necessary, and absolutely isn't as easy as walking away from a problem with no consequences.
I think wanting other people to live, and enjoy life, isn't Neo-Nazi behavior. Just because I believe in loving everyone doesn't mean I am ignorant to what problems life throws at us. I, too, have dealt with a wide variety of life-altering problems and frightening changes. I, too, have felt at my lowest and unable to see a glimmer of light or hope.
If the world is damaged by caring, thoughtful, loving people then the world would be improving every day. After all, we are lacking the Ghandis and Mother Teresas of the world. I think encouraging a person to go into their community, become involved with others, and build their sense of self isn't making the world such a horrible place to live in.
Again, thank you for your input. I understand that you are entitled to your own personal opinion, and I hope that you take that into consideration when you realize that I, too, have that same right. I understand that you feel it's terrible to encourage life, and hope that one day you will understand my point of view in regards to suicide.

Hey Im not sure what spotting is exactly, but I think that thats what is happening (a bit of period blood but very little and very thin).. I just want to know if you think it is normal for it to happen.. I dont think theres a possibility that im pregnant, its around the time for my period now and I thought I was starting because I had the monthly cramps aswell... are cramps normal with spotting? (link)
|
Spotting is pretty much what you described. It's usually called spotting because you only see a few spots of blood throughout the day rather than, say, filling a tampon or pad in a normal menstrual cycle. Some women experience cramps while others don't so cramping while spotting isn't a definite yes or no answer.
Spotting is actually a very big sign of pregnancy. It's referred to as implantation bleeding. When the egg implants into the uterus, some of the uterine wall can become dislodged and a small amount of blood can be expelled. Usually this varies from spotting to a very light, short period. It'd last about 2 to 4 days, and includes cramping for many women. It occurs around the same time a woman would expect her period to naturally come. This is how a lot of women don't even realize they're pregnant for the first month or two! :) Some women actually go as far as to "spot" during when they should having their periods for the first few months they're pregnant.
Most women spot at some time, even if it's just once in their lifetime. It usually doesn't mean anything bad has happened unless:
It continues and you spot frequently throughout your cycle.
or
Your period never arrives, despite the spotting.
Give your body a few more days to see what's going to happen. If your period never comes then, personally, I'd take a home pregnancy test in about a week to 10 days and see if I'm pregnant. You can also see your doctor for a pregnancy test or to see if there is an underlying health condition that needs to be addressed.
You very well could be pregnant though, as this sounds exactly like implantation bleeding! :)

Hi all,
I have a problem with how to work with parentheses. What are the rules for subject-verb agreement?
E.g. Your cat (as well as your dogs) is/are diseased.
I thought that the sentence should read without the stuff in the brackets, so in that case it would be "is". But when I read it that way it sounds terrible. If one used commas instead of brackets, it would be "are", wouldn't it?
I have looked all over the net and I am none the wiser.
Please, for the sake of the paper I am correcting, do not guess :)
Also, I can't remove the brackets, I have to stick to the original formatting.
Thanks so much for your help. (link)
|
Believe it or not, "your cat" is the subject. "Your cat" is singular.
"Your cat (as well as your dogs) is diseased."
The phrase in the parenthesis shouldn't be included in the sentence. Think of it as no necessary information. If the information isn't important enough to be actually added into the sentence then it probably isn't included in the subject-verb agreement. ;)
You should be able to completely strike out a parenthetical statement without rendering the sentence meaningless or otherwise broken.
In most writing you rarely see this sort of parentheses usage. It can easily not make sense, is often too complicated, and the same thing can be said in a more well-written sentence or two.
If you could rewrite the sentence then you can change the words, ever so slightly, and make it flow much nicer:
Your cat (as well as your dogs) may have contracted a disease.
Your cat (as well as your dogs) may be diseased.

Could you somehow undelete my own questions that I've deleted? Or send me the links to them to my email? I want to see some questions about love that I asked when I was younger, haha, thanks. (link)
|
You should be able to access all of your previous questions easily through a link on the left side bar. There should be a spot under "Welcome, NAME!" that says "Your Questions" and you should click on that. From there you'll need to select the reddish/brownish link that says "all questions" and it should pop up the list of all of your previously asked questions. If that doesn't work I have included all of the questions you asked that I was able to find. If something is missing then please get in contact with DangerNerd so that he can go through the database and see what has happened :)
Please feel free to re-ask the basic question(s) you're wanting. We have a lot of new users on the site that can give you additional input to these sorts of older questions. Simply make a new question and ask away for more answers! :)
In the future, I totally suggest you choose better titles so when you're looking for your previous questions you have an idea of what they might be about. Below I listed the title of each question and most leave you absolutely clueless :( it might take awhile to find the particular answer you're looking for!
Here is a link to all of your questions I was able to bring up:
