Peeps answered Thursday November 18 2010, 11:14 pm: Being as I've lived in WV before, it is just the area. Not many people are willing to dish out cold hard cash to go see a rock band perform. The towns are fairly small and if you're not a country singer then you're kind of SOL in getting a venue filled for your entertainment. Even then, some of the older folks only prefer bluegrass. Some people, even the younger generations, only prefer "older" country rather than the newer versions.
It can be hard to please the public and have them come out to your venue to pay money to see you. WV, as a whole, is fairly poor. Not many people want to toss away $50 to see Toby Keith dance around and sing for 2 hours when they can just turn on the television and still enjoy the music.
So:
Small areas (not large enough places to draw big enough crowds)
Poor people (low on "spending money")
Social disagreements (based upon their music likes) [ Peeps's advice column | Ask Peeps A Question ]
