Everyone says American Eagle is the best store, but personally I hate it. All of their t-shirts are basically the same things with different words and colors. A lot of their clothes are really bad quality. I bought a cami from there once and I only wore it once and a HUGE hole ripped and I wasn't even running around or anything. It may be a little cheaper then Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister, but atleast if you buy something from A&F or Hollister, you know the clothes are going to last. American Eagle's clothes arn't the most attractive things, and they look cheap. What do you think about AE?
Saynotogymclass answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 9:36 pm: Everyone has different opinions about different stores! Its what makes the world go round!
I don't agree with your statement completely
- I've never had a problem with the quality of AE clothes. Their t-shirt last for years without getting pilly! On the other hand, shirts from A&F and Hollister are paper thin and after a few washes, little pills show up.
-Yes, the graphics on the shirts in AE may be similar, but so are the shirts at Hollister. All of the shirts basically have some sort of beach scene that says "Hollister CO" on it. If you look around A&F you'll also see they use similar fonts and have a certain vintage feel to them. The reason stores keep similar designs is so they have a "vibe" or style to the store. All stores do this, so its not AE's fault.
I personally like AE because its different from Hollister and A&F. EVERYONE wears polos and henley tops from these two stores. The clothes at AE are more unique and preppy at the same time. Some of it does look shitty, but usually its a fresh new design! Everyone has an opinion about their style or the clothes you want to wear and thats just fine! Great question!! kaitX3 answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 9:23 pm: I totally agree with you!
I've bought some clothes from there and they were extremely cheap quality! Their jeans dont fit me all that well either however some of their shorts are cute.
i do like a&f alot better yes they are more expensive but they last alot longer.
as for hollister they're okay. but their clothes dont seem to last that long. the shirt i have on now is from there and has holes in it from where it has worn out and i havent had it that long. also their jeans always seem to rip in the crotch area for some reason.
if you have a wet seal they have really cute clothes. or try pac sun i buy alot of my clothes from there and absolutely love them!
lostxlustx151 answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 8:14 pm: THANK THE LORD. Someone that finally agrees with me.
The only thing that is good from their are there jeans! The polo's are horriable, the fit up top but then are big down at the bottom, making people appear pregnant! I also agree that all their shirts look alike. Another reason I personally don't like AE is because their style is sort of Earthy?
LoveNJstyle answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 6:34 pm: Personally, i like the store. i used to hate it like you do but it's grown on me. i don't buy everything from there but i do get some things. I have a bunch of shirts from there and none have ever ripped. i wear their khakis to school and i've never had a problem. then again, i buy my clothes pretty loose fitting so that might be why? i guess it depends on how you define quality. i get pants with no holes that last a long time from there... can't say the same for hollister. I guess if you don't like it, then don't shop there. i guess you got a lot of anger out already...<3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
FACEDOWN answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 5:37 pm: well, i like american eagle, and i love a&f. a&f's quality is way worse. are you kidding me? the polos are like paper. yeah and i heard a&f supporrtts child poronagraphy, witch is just wronggggg [ FACEDOWN's advice column | Ask FACEDOWN A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 5:34 pm: I like the store alot personality. It orinated where i am from and have always though things are good quality for how cheap they are.. i mean basically all of the shirts are under $20 and go on sale very soon after they come out and there jeans are usually under $40 which is nice.
i have acually had worse lucky with hollister and AF. I bough and $80 bathing suit from AF earlier this year and both the top and bottom already broke and all my shirts from hollister are so thin they rip easily
whta i would do is save your reciepts.. they will try to help you out if you go in there calm and friendly, explain what happen and show them your reciept. and as long as you bought it within a month or so they should be happy to exchange it for you or give you some sort of refund. schlichtinator answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 5:15 pm: Jeans and shorts from American Eagle rein supreme from a high mountain top, and laugh at the peasants that are Hollister, Aeropostle, and Abercrombie and Fitch. Personally, I've found that target has better shirts for guys than any of those stores, really. [ schlichtinator's advice column | Ask schlichtinator A Question ]
Teza answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 5:12 pm: I'm not a big fan of American Eagle. They have nice clothes for guys and they are much better quality than girl clothes. I don't know why, but it's just like that. I hate their t-shirts and they rip after a while. I don't personaly hate ALL of their clothes, but they do have some nice things that last a while. I'm just not a big fan of the store. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
orphans answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 5:08 pm: For the most part you're right. There was one point last year when their clothes just go so ugly I almost wanted to throw up when I went in there. But, I think they're getting better. Their jeans are pretty good but yeah, most of their shirts are absolute crap. Not all of them, but most of them. Those *sheer* shirts get holes in them all the time. And alot of the time AE's shirts get big when you wash them. The fabric stretches out. So you have a shirt that is short but wide.
I've also noticed that with some of Hollister's shirts as well though. But Hollister almost never sells those sheer type shirts so they're much better. And they don't get short and wide.
And I know Abercrombie & Hollister are the same company but it also seems as if A&F's shirts last longer than the Hollister ones. I'd much rather spend a little extra money to buy a good shirt than a shitty one, ya know?
Another store I hate is Forever21 lol. Their shirts don't last long either and the whole store is just so unorganized. It's impossible for me to find anything there. Aero too! People really shouldn't shop there after like 7th grade. And they also have those sheer shirts like AE that suck.
I just started buying a few things from Express and I have to say I'm in love. I mean no store can take away my A&F and Hollister (lol) but their clothes are good quality and pretty cute. So right now, the only stores I really shop at are HCO, A&F, and Express. Actually, sometimes Buckle too. I love their jeans, they're so comfortable and again, a bit more but theyre worth it.
FoReVerHelpful2U answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 5:07 pm: i love it, i think its wayy better than spending 70 dollars on a t shirt that says abercromie. plus its cheap, and cute. but whatever its your opinion.
HCOxBABE answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 5:03 pm: I don't think American Eagle's clothes are the greatest either. I bought a jacket from there & I only wore it a few times & now there's a hole at the end of one of the sleeves. After that, I haven't really gotten anything from there. Hollister has cheap material for their clothes, too, but my clothes from there don't rip or anything. I think Hollister's clothes & Abercrombie's clothes look a lot better & more fashionable then American Eagle's. [ HCOxBABE's advice column | Ask HCOxBABE A Question ]
MummuM answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 4:36 pm: I agree with you. American Eagle does have some nice clothes, but they're so not worth the money you're paying for them. You can get just as nice clothes some place else, without the name brand; American Eagle. Most of their clothes are all the same, but just differen't colors. I wouldn't know about Abercrombie & Fitch, or Hollister, though; we don't have those stores around here, sadly. ♥ [ MummuM's advice column | Ask MummuM A Question ]
x_C010rMyW0r1d answered Tuesday August 1 2006, 4:33 pm: Personally, I agree with you. I own one thing from there, which was a gift, and it got holes in it like the 3rd time I wore it. But In my opinion, Hollisters clothes are of poor quality also. [ x_C010rMyW0r1d's advice column | Ask x_C010rMyW0r1d A Question ]
partygurl24 answered Saturday July 15 2006, 7:09 pm: I happen to really like American Eagle. It's one of my favorite stores. It's o.k. if you don't like it because it's your opinion and we have the right of free speech. The reason why I like American Eagle so much is because I like their style and how the clothes looks. Yeah, some t--shirts may be the same and have the same message, but they have a good variety of them. I don't buy clothes of bad quality, which is part of the reason why I shop there. Maybe the whole came in your cami because they're hand wash material. I wash my AE t-shirts by hand because I know that that's all it will only take for it to get washed. That way, I keep holes out of them, and I get to wear them longer. The bags are also adorable and I just got one last week. I'm not saying that you have to like AE because you don't. I hope I helped! I HATE IT. Now I know hate is a stong word, but as you said "I only wore it once and a HUGE hole ripped" They have cute clothes yes, but I'm not going to pay 25$ for a shirt and have it rip. I'm an active person, I run around & jump on people. I want clothes that can stand up to be being..well myself :]

With AE, you arn't paying for quitly clothes. You are paying for the American Eagle logo. I don't like their clothes. I don't even go in that store anymore. I would prefure to wear Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch.

I'm sure there are people who would dissagere with me, and say AE is a good store that has nice clothes, but for my life - running around, jumping on stuff & jumping on people - it isn't.

devilspawn_666 answered Saturday July 15 2006, 6:39 pm: I think that most people shop at AE to say that they shop there. The clothes that they sell there generally do tend to be very low quality for the money that they charge for them. You could probably get something that's a lot cheaper and a lot nicer at Target. If you don't like their clothes you shouldn't shop there. Other people probably won't stop shopping there until some other store becomes "cool". LiDdLeJeSsiCa9 answered Saturday July 15 2006, 4:43 pm: Personally, AE is one of my favorite stores, along with A&F and HCO. It is good that AE is a little cheaper than the other two. But I also love the fashions at AE. I have tons of clothing from AE, even some that I've had for over a year, and they have no rips in it.
Maybe when you bought the cami it already had a small hole, then when you started wearing it, the hole gradually got bigger and bigger. My suggestion, check the clothing item you are about to buy for any holes/rips/tears. [ LiDdLeJeSsiCa9's advice column | Ask LiDdLeJeSsiCa9 A Question ]
