isis answered Saturday June 3 2006, 4:16 am: I believe that loved ones stay around us to offer support, they can show this in many ways. I still talk to my mother-in-law regularly, it really helps. Your friend is finding comfort in talking to the portrait, so there's no reason why she not continue.
Even if your belief system does not support this view, it is still better to have a way of verbalising your concerns than to keep them bottled up and risk them going inwards. This, in time, is damaging.
Hope that helps and the best of luck to you both. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
x_woah_me answered Friday June 2 2006, 11:49 pm: No, it would be the same as talking to an animal. They don't talk back. She probablly does it, beacuse it helpes releave stress. She can talk about her problems without having to worry about them being told. It's totally normal.

soendearing answered Friday June 2 2006, 3:03 pm: I don't think so.
I agree with the person below me.
It's werid how my mom put my cat to sleep 4 years ago.
And late last year, i found cat hair in my house. I haven't had a cat since, and my mom is a neat freak so don't think she didn't clean or whatever.
But maybe her grandmother is taking to her through instints.
Elcee answered Friday June 2 2006, 2:39 pm: I firmly believe that those who have died have not gone for good. I talk to my grandmother on many occasions and I know that she can hear me. She will play tricks on the family like hiding small things and moving ornaments around. There is no explanation for how it happens so I am happy to continue believing in her. Voicing your thoughts to a portrait/picture is something that many people do and if it helps all well and good. Believe in what you want to believe. All the best. Eustachius answered Friday June 2 2006, 1:27 am: Not at all! Talking at the piture of your grandmother helps you to visualize her and focus on her better. I've done similar things before. Who knows? Maybe she'll hear you and tell the Big Guy Upstairs that you need some help. ^_~
becky_boo answered Friday June 2 2006, 1:18 am: It gives people hope to talk to someone who's not really there. Like she can talk to her kinda like praying but she has somthing to pray about. If she prays through the pic she's probly just trying to communicate specificly with her [ becky_boo's advice column | Ask becky_boo A Question ]
CiNdYLoUwHoO answered Friday June 2 2006, 12:59 am: It might seem a little strange, however, if it helps her cope with loss and get through problems, it's not weird at all. What works for her, works for her. Hope this helps.
