Here is the deal.. Lately I've been thinking alot about if god is real or not.. I don't know if I should believe it.. I mostly think that life was created by mostly scientific reasons.. The bible could really be made up from along long time ago..Nobody really knows right? Has anybody ever been touched by god? If I do not believe in god what would I be?

This in some way or another proves the Bible to be real.If you don't believe in God, your an atheist, not trying to scare you but , your on your way to hell. But there is a way to be saved and there is a way to tell, the Bible was not made up but it was here in the very beginging but was written by human hands aloooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago.
holahayley56 answered Wednesday July 5 2006, 9:43 pm: You believe in God by faith. Thats all there is too it. I believe in God. Because, I feel he works mircales with me all the time. Whenever I'm sick, I pray to God I will get better, & in the next 5 minutes, I'm better. I mean its been where I've been like ready to throw up, & it goes away the minute I pray. I've had moments where I wished I could have a dream about osmeone I miss deeply, & I do that night. You may just think.. that its just a coincidence. I believe differently. I've done that too, some things I do believe scientificly, others I believe God. Mostly, I believe that God has made everything. But, I know some thinks makes me question too. I dno, no biggie. =) [ holahayley56's advice column | Ask holahayley56 A Question ]
Jess5764 answered Sunday May 28 2006, 11:11 pm: Theres actually no proof whatsoever for the bible. It was written by human beings, not god. I think most people who believe in god claim to have been "touched" by him in one way or another. Personally I don't believe in any of it and am an atheist myself. I believe the bible, christianity, as well as any organized religion were created to control the people. Throughout history church doctrine has been refuted by science (gravity, heliocentrism, etc) and it is continuing today (evolution). The church and science have always been at odds, and things in the past religion has refuted is now widely accepted because of reforms within the church. I believe there will come a time when religion becomes obsolete because of science and people won't feel that they need something to worship anymore. xx_Dreamer answered Friday May 19 2006, 10:55 am: You'd be an atheist, more than likely.
& yes, i have been touched by God. Many, many times. He's blessed me in ways i never imagined.
I'm going to tell you stuff that actually happened to 3 of my friends, since they are not here to do it themselves.
Two of my friends were in VERY bad car wrecks, if you would have seen the pictures you would know that they shouldn't have made it out alive. As it is, the both did.. Anna [that's what will call her] flipped her car right into a ditch. It was BAD. Like i said, if you saw the pictures you would know that she shouldn't have made it out alive. She walked away from that accident with whiplash & that's it.
Randy [that's what will call him, i don't really like giving out their names] got in a bad wreck a few weeks ago. He shouldn't have made it out, either. The doctors thought it was going to be a while before he walked again.. 2 weeks later he was walking.
Bob [haa, that's his name in one of the skits so i'll use that] got in a dirtbike accident. He had a broken neck. The doctors told his parents that he was going to be a vegetable the rest of his life [i didn't find out about this until one of our youth events].. he walked out of the hospital FOUR DAYS later. FOUR. Lucky? No. Grace of God? Yeah, i think so.
All of those people have something in common. They've all been touched by God. Just listening to their testimonies is amazing.
LoveMeDo answered Friday May 12 2006, 10:08 pm: Look, I'm a strong Christian and sometimes I am skpetical about God..it's a lot to try to understand. But I think God could have created all the scientific reasons that started the world. Does that make sense? In the Bible they say that it took seven days for God to make the earth..but what's seven days to God? He could have..created evolution! Ah..it's confusing!
I guess you'd be an atheist if you don't believe in God..
Before you make an informed decision, I'd suggest attending church for a while (if you don't already) talk to a strong christian you know...or read the bible.

It's strange that there would be two very similar questions asked here suddenly... and at the same time I stumble upon something completely by accident tonight, that addresses these very questions.
It's an absolutely fascinating read about a former die-hard atheist who was determined to write a book called "All the Stupidity of the Bible". As a teacher of physics and earth science, he is a logical and analytical person.
He also looked into many religions and read the Vedas, Koran, Sayings of Buddha, writings of Bahaullah and Zoroaster.
lulabelle answered Thursday May 11 2006, 1:31 am: There is definitely a God, but I happen to believe that God was very scientific. I don't understand why science has to be excluded from creation. There are truths in the Bible, but they are all muddled up with peoples desire to control others through fear and manipulation. It's really hard to figure out where the truth ends and the manipulation begins. For example: We are made in God's image. In our society we think of God as being male yet when humans were created there is both male and female. How could we be in his image if there are two sexes? It is my belief God is a male/female team. Did you know that for over 10,000 years God was thought of as female? Property was inherited down the line through the women and they used the mother's last name and not the father's. It was the Arian people who came out of northern India and settled in the Middle East who started us the singular male God. The true Arian people are the people who now live in Iran or in ancient times Persia. These people are not arabic. In ancient versions of the Bible there was a feminine essence to God and her name was Wisdom. The feminine aspect of God has been stricken. The problem with the Bible is that it was put together by a group of people during Constantine's reign. They called this the Nicene Counsel. These guys put the Bible together under Constantine's guidance and they decided what was to be included and what was not. There are a lot of books that didn't make it because it didn't achieve the agenda they were trying to accomplish. And what was that you ask? Constantine was conquering the world. It was all about controlling the masses. The true Sabbath or day of worship was Saturday back then. It was Constantine who changed that to Sunday in honor of his favorite god, which was the sun god. This is how we have the name Sunday. Like any politician, Constantine saw the ever increasing popularity of a religion as a great opportunity to accomplish his goals. What a better way to achieve this goal by writing the main book that will control the religion. He wrote the Niacin Creed that is said in Catholic and Episcopalian Churches today. When he wrote it he decreed that any priest that didn't recite it in their service would be beheaded. Yep, you guessed it. There were priests that were beheaded. I won't say this when I go to church. Then there is the story of Noah. The original story is about Ziusudra who reigned for ten years as king of Shuruppak, a Sumerian city then on the Euphrates River. Ziusudra's reign ended with the flood of 2900 BC because in those days anyone not prompt w/their dept payments would be imprisoned, even a king (further explanation below). Then as now, river barges were used for transporting cargo on the Euphrates River. This cargo included livestock, beer, wine, textiles, lumber, stone, metals, dried fish, vegetable oil, and other cargo. In June about 2900 BC during the annual inundation of the Euphrates River, the river was at crest stage. Ziusudra and his family were picnicking on their loaded barge ready for delivery when a six-day thunderstorm caused the river to rise about 15 cubits (22 feet) higher and overflow the levees. By the time the river began to rise, it was already too late to evacuate to the foothills of the mountains 110 miles away. The runaway barge floated down the Euphrates River into the Persian Gulf and they were out in the middle of the gulf for a couple of weeks. All they could see was water everywhere until one day they saw a bird and knew they were near land. They finally became grounded in an estuary at the mouth of the river. After moving to dry land, Ziusudra offered a sacrifice to a Sumerian god on an alter at the top of a temple ziggurat, an artificial hill. Ziusutra could not return home because he had passed his delivery date and was considered delinquent or in debt, which meant that he would have to go to prison. He had to start a new life with his family here. Later, storytellers mistranslated the ambiguous word for hill as mountain. The storytellers then erroneously assumed that the nearby barge must have grounded on top of a mountain. Two Jewish scribes heard this story while in Babylonia and thought it would be a great story to teach a lesson and that's how Noah's Arch was written. Another story that comes from this story and is older than Noah's arch is the epic Gilgamesh. It's the one that has the quote still used today, "Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink".
With all of this evidence and much more, too much to go into here, why do I still believe in God? When you are in biology and chemistry class really listen to the intricate details as to how we are made. We were created. We are like cyborgs or fine tuned machines for that matter. Every chemical in our bodies has a purpose and reason that is necessary for our survival. Our bodies are made up of all kinds of checks and balnaces. The miracle of our every detail is thought out to the finest point(operative term here is thought). Life on this planet is thought out to its utmost detail. Life dies and recycles itself. The trees make oxygen and we breath oxygen. We are a self-sustaining ecosystem (that we are destroying) and someone or something created or started all of this. Our creator put everything on this planet that all life would need to survive and when we (humans) mess with it that's when we create problems such as imbalance in the environment or cancer. The more we tamper w/this created system the more we create trouble for ourselves. So, if you're still undecided, I can completely understand that thought process. If you want to put a name to it I would say you're an agnostic. That is someone who neither believes nor disbelieves. They have an open mind either way. I've also included some websites below for you to research for yourself. keep in mind you can only find the truth within yourself. You do know the truth just acknowledge it.
redninja answered Thursday May 11 2006, 1:24 am: well you could be either athiest or agnostic. Personally I am atheist I find most things revolving around religon hard to believe and i dont agree with many of the beliefs. And thats my own choice. In time you will decied on what beliefs are suitable to you and what you can belive as true. Now with the progressions we have made in science religion is becoming more questionable. And we are always learning new thigns that will contradict it. In the end it is all up to you. look into it and see what suits you best. [ redninja's advice column | Ask redninja A Question ]
vilelove answered Thursday May 11 2006, 12:53 am: Hi. I understand what you are going through, I went through a phase like that myself. Regardless on whether God exists or not (personaly I am over that phase and consider myself Catholic) the Bible was written a long time ago and can easily be misinterpreted. Nobody really does know what it means... at least not in the kind of way that they are `100% right and can confirm that with an answer sheet. That's why a lot of people try to follow in what they think is right based on the Bible. ...Touched by God physically? Personally I don't think so. There are people that may think they have been but they probably were in an unconscious state of mind and I don't know. If you don't believe in God (or a God) at all then you are Atheist. If you believe there is some sort of Creator or God but it's not exactly Jesus or the Father or you just don't know who it is then you are Agnostic (those are the people that 'doubt'... atheist are sure there is no god at all). Alin75 answered Wednesday May 10 2006, 11:36 pm: There are a number of issues to consider where religion is concerned. You are looking at it from a Christian point of view, which is fair enough. By "God" you mean the Christian God.
One of the main problems with religion (aside from the fact that they offer no proof whatsoever) is that they conflict with one another. In small ways or great ways they preach a different story, with a different set of morals etc. So, the question is not just "is there a God?" but if so... which one?
Coincidentally people that are raised within a certain religious culture tend to "know" that their religion is the right one. They also tend to have religious experiences that coincide with the religion practiced in their geographical region... odd isnt it?
As for the bible, as a historical document it is not particularly valuable. Many of the accounts are second and third hand (people who heard from people) etc. I am not trying to belittle anyone's faith, only evaluating the book as a historian would evaluate an independent text.
Now, if you truly don't believe in God, or rather if you truly believe that there is no God, then you are an ashiest. I myself am an agnostic (one who acknowledges that we simply do not know i.e. there isnt enough evidence to prove or disprove the existence of a deity or other supernatural power).
I just want to make one last point on science and life. How life was created is unknown of course. However, never mistake the unknown as proof of something. Often religious arguments point to that which we do not understand and use it as some sort of proof. People fear the unknown, and they want all the answers right now. The more science discovers, the less is attributed directly to God (such as for example the way primitive cultures might think thunder comes about due to God's anger).
We may never have all the answers. However, making any sort of conclusions in the absence of the appropriate evidence is unwarranted in my opinion.
Alpha345 answered Wednesday May 10 2006, 11:01 pm: Well if the bible is made up, then no one could be touched by God.
If you don't believe in God or any other higher power, you are an atheist.
It is your choice to believe. Personally, I believe the bible over ANY theory of creation or evolution any day of the week. Life is much much MUCH to complex to believe it all came from just 1 cell that "happened" to know how to divide, reproduce, and mutate at the same time. But that is just my opinion.
BlondBritBrit answered Wednesday May 10 2006, 10:59 pm: I have never been touched by God, but I usually try to not think about if God is real or not... I just beleive. if you dont beleive then you are athiest.
greeneyedgirl9o answered Wednesday May 10 2006, 10:58 pm: you could be athiest, however i wouldnt worry too much infact i feel the exact same way, i really dont know how to believe in something that noone can provce even existed or someone who is all from stories. to me its almost like believing in ghosts. i talked to my dad about it and he said that its fine, because im at such a age that its hard to believe. i think once you experience something mind-blwing, like love, marriage, seeing a baby born, etc your going to believe!
