To girls who ain't close to their moms
Hey gals,
to any of you who arent very close to your moms, how did you tell her when you started your period and how did she react?

YEAH, AND I JUST YELLED AT THE top(sorry for the caps there) of my lungs, because i didnt know what to do! i was like just done going to the bathroom, and i was standing there, and going crazy!! lol, and she helped me alot tho, and she still does! everytime that I need new stuff, I would just say tell her, or when you are at the shopping place with"feminine items" tell her that you need some, and then maybe she will get the hint, some moms get really excited about it like and hug you and everything, and those are usually the moms that want to know everything, like about school, hot boys, kisses! ect, but i would say that a mom who wants to know everything would just ask you if you had it, so i duno, anyways, i think i am done now, I have confused you enough! hey! its early in the morning, okay?

P.S.= and thanks for not being like all of those other girls who say that they have their period and dont know how to tell their mother, and dont want to, and need to know how to buy and hide the "stuff"

I think that you should just tell your mom that you got your period...trust me, it's not as bad as you think. She'll understand because all women go through the same thing...She'll probably be helpful and she won't even care!

Well when i was at my couzins house i started and i hollered at her and said brandi do you know what every girl goes through and she said yeh why and i said i am goin through it now and she stayed alnight with me that night and told my mom! it isnt nothing to worry about!

I thought it was strange the first day I got mine, so I told her right away since she's the only female around and is actually someone who would understand what to do. She was fine with it and I had to take a religious good luck shower thing...

I didn't tell my mom... She asked me. I didn't think I needed to tell her, because that was my body and my business.
Once she found out, she cried; then asked why I didn't tell her.

I really don't know how close me and my mom are, but her and my sister always made fun of me because I was a 'late bloomer' so when I started my period, she was watching tv and I just said hey mom... she said WHAT? I said... I'm a woman now, and I walked upstairs. She ended up telling me if I needed 'supplies' then to let her know.
But yeah, that's my story.

My mom and I don't get along very well but when i told her by saying hey mom like... yesterday i just started my period... she didn't really care that much and just said okay,if you need to get some more pads or tampons then just tell me. But overall it wasn't that bad. xoxo peachgirly

I had the same problem of what I was going to do when I got my period because i'm not very close to my mom and when I got it I just told her straight up and she was like "okay". It's not as bad as it seems! Trust me!

HEY! ok im not very close to my mom but i have started my period and it was NOT as hard as i thought it would be! I would just walk up to her and tell her that u realize you arn't as close as you would like to be with her but you have to tell her that you started! She should understand it shouldn't be a big deal to her...all my mom said was..."YOU'RE BECOMING A WOMEN!!!!!!*"

i really didnt want to tell her, but i knew i need tampons and pads so i just called her when she was at the grocery store and told her that i needed them. she actually didnt react in an embarrasing or rude way she was relly nice about, but she did call my relatives and i got alot of phone calls from my female relatives that day

It's not that I'm not close to my mom, but I'll answer anyways. Just tell her and she will give you pads. Trust me, she had to go through it so there's nothing to be emberassed about.

I cried lol. Then she was like "what's wrong" and I told her. I didn't know what to do. You could write her a note, or e-mail her. Or if you have an older sister who you're more comfortable telling, ask her to tell your mom for you.

I'm not close to my mom either and I only talk to her if I need a ride or some money. I know, that's bad but when I started my period 2 1/2 years ago, I just went up to her and told her that I had gotten my period and that I need to borrow her pads for that time and that she had to go out and buy my some. She was so happy when she found out that I got my period.

ok my mom wakes up at 5:30 every morning and i wake up at 6:30. so at 6:30 in the morning i just went up to my mom and said i started my period. she was like REALLY????? but now we're alot more open and closer ever since.

Huh? My mom asked me. We talk about sex education a lot (but only the shallow stuff) so that I'd understand these things better, about the woman body. I still don't have it though, so she's still waiting.

Just ne like hey mom guess wat.....i kinda just got my period, please dont make a big deal about it.....my mom was kinda happy i guess....she was wonderin when it would come..even though i wa sonly 12..whcih is pretty early i dont know why she was kinda worried...but its not hard ot tell. And tell he rot keep it private between you two, and to know tell your da or sibling...then she will feel special she has a secret with you. Hope i helped!

I don't live with my mom. But I didn't really think of it as that big a deal. I just let her know is all. Don't be scared to tell your mom because all she's gonna do is help you and give you advice on what to do.
