neavel answered Tuesday February 15 2005, 1:34 am: hey honey, there is no such things as signing papers to believe in another religion. I am proud to be a christian! When you are a christian God is always there for you. He is not a hinderence and judgementle like many people think he is, he is careing and guides you throughout your life. You have the freedom of controlling your own life, God is there for when u need him. He is awsome and always listens to you when you pray to him and has a personal relationship with you. THere is no catch at all. You do not need to please him by giving him offerings, instead, God is the one who tries to please you. God loved us so much that he sent his only son, Jesus on Earth to died so that we can go to heaven to be with him when we die. Jesus died and became alive again and acended up into heaven to be with God. I love being a christian coz they arent strict like catholics and other religions.if you want to become one, all you have to do is pray to God and ask him to be in your life. It is that simple! if you dont know how to do it, go to someone who is a chr3istian and ask them to help you come to Christ. either that or you could go to a church and usually after the sevice the paster asks if anybody wants to become a christian. they help you accept God into your life. Hopefully you would become attracted to his onderful religion and experince Gods unconditional love like i do.

bucsbaby6969 answered Monday February 14 2005, 6:38 pm: No papers are needed. And some religions you can look into are Islam, Buddaism, Judaism, Baptist, johovas witness, and other various forms of christianity you just have to find the one that fits you. There is also athieism which is where you beleive in no god and beleive in evolution, which is what i am, but do some research and see which one fits u [ bucsbaby6969's advice column | Ask bucsbaby6969 A Question ]
fireant30 answered Monday February 14 2005, 5:13 pm: The best thing I can tell you is to visit different religions with friends and see what means the most to you. If you are a little unsure about who believes what, ask...people will usually answer questions if they believe you are asking for information, not to make fun. Other Christian sects may be a great place to start since you already have a foundation. Also, believe it or not, Judaism and Catholicism are very much alike (barring Jesus and all those saints). But whatever you choose, make sure that it really works for you or you will wind up back where you started before long. [ fireant30's advice column | Ask fireant30 A Question ]

BeautifulMadness answered Monday February 14 2005, 2:24 pm: Spritually, there are no papers, but some religions do require you to go through 'courses' and then be baptised/initiated/etc into their religion, especially if you want to get married to a very orthodox jew, for example, and have to become a jew yourself to do so. Your religion will be on records such as the Census, but I'm pretty sure that, next time it comes around, you can just put your new religion down and the records will be officially changed.
I personally changed from Christian to Wiccan last year, but in the eyes of the law I am still a Christian until I write on the Census that I am otherwise.
Pretty much all religions will require you to be initiated/inducted/baptised/whatever into their religion if you want a funeral or a naming ceremony/christaning/etc in their church/temple/whatever, but not if you just want to visit their place of worship.
And remember that you don't HAVE to be a religion - you could be an athiest. Some random examples of religions you could research are:
Buddhism, Sikhism, Islam, Judaism, Church of England, Wiccanism, Hinduism, Athiest, Zoroastrianism, Rastafarian, Mormon, Baha'i, Shinto, Humanitarianism, Jainism, or Unitarianism. There are loads more so just keep on looking until you find something you're happy with :)
Blessed Be,

chaos answered Monday February 14 2005, 10:12 am: It depends on what religion you choose. For instance, I had to get a paper from my old church (which is baptist) to my new church (which is Melkite Greek Orthodox) that said when I was baptised. If I didn't have that, I would have been baptised again. Which wouldn't be a big deal, but I wouldn't want to if I didn't have to.
Try checking out the Greek Orthodox; they are little different than the Romans. Just enough that I didn't feel bad about changing.
I am taking classes in my new church to better be a part of the inner life of the Church. It will take a month or so to complete classes, but I am learning quite a bit. Before that I took classes on their version of the Creed.
The best thing to do is to go to different churches and see what their service is like. Try to talk to the pastor, deacon, or other church member about their church. Most people are more than happy to share. In the meantime, you can look here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
There is nothing wrong with questioning what you believe. Sometimes you need to take the time for yourself to see what you think is right. I would suggest spending a goodly amount of time reflecting and reading the Bible before you change. I read the New Testament last Lenten season to figure out what I thought was right, and then attended services for almost a year before converting. [ chaos's advice column | Ask chaos A Question ]

There are no limits on the amount of times you can change your religion and you don't have to consult any legal bodies.

Notso answered Sunday February 13 2005, 9:58 pm: It is legal to change religions, but how you convert depends on what religion you choose. The three main monotheistic religions of the world are Christianity, Islam and Judaism. To convert to another branch of Christianity, generally you will be baptised. To convert to Judaism you will have approach a Rabbi three times before you are considered. To convert to Islam you simply need to declare the Islamic creed infront of another believer.
Your school might offer a course on world religions. Some terms you might come across in your search are polytheistic and monotheistic. Polytheistic means the belief in many gods, while monotheism is the belief in one god. [ Notso's advice column | Ask Notso A Question ]
sparklythingy answered Sunday February 13 2005, 9:54 pm: Changing religion isn't so difficult. If you don't go for what the Roman Catholics do, then perhaps there's something else that might suit you. For example, if you'd prefer less intricate services, you might prefer a form of Lutheranism. If you just don't agree with the Church's ideas on women in the church, gay people, etc, you might try an Episcopalian church. Unitarianism are a good choice for people who are just pretty sure that there is a God.
A good book to consider on this issue is My Friends' Beliefs by Riley H. Ward. It discusses a number of religions, including different sects of Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism, among other things.
You dn't need any papers or anything, either - it's just kind of something you do - you just change churches, for instance.
