I've skipped Periods

Question Posted Wednesday January 26 2005, 6:06 pm

My name is Kayla and I'm 13 years old. I started my period not too long ago. But I have skipped about 3. Is this normal for me? I don't want to be able to not have children or anything? Is it serious? Please help.

HI Kayla. First of all, I will not say that you are normal for sure because you will always go thru a medical exam first right. I mean who ever gives you an definite answer from what the info you gave here will be there best guess. My best guest (not a definite answer) is that it is normal for you to skip at the beginning. I've seen it and it's quite common. and i will not worry soo much about not having child due to this.
Most important is to go to your OB GYN and get an exam. You will get your real answer. And always go to a second opinion (2nd Doctor ) to be safe. People are not always perfect . doctors are people and they will also miss things. Okay. So please don't worry. I will be on the okay side for your answer. PLease go see your OBGYN.
Take care

You bet it is. When I was your age, I had my period right around when you did. I was what's known as irregular for well over a year. Your body is going through a lot of changes hun. You will get it one month, and skip a month, or you will get it twice in a month. Not to worry! Your body is making adjustments and you will even out. However dear, if you experience anything abnormal. For example, excessive clotting, pain other than the normal cramps, fever, etc, go to a doctor right away.
Most young ladies go through what you are going through.
Good luck and keep us updated on your situation.
Regards! Adrienne :)

That is normal for just starting your period, Wait for about 4 months and it keeps skipping than I would check in with a doctor. But it should be fine.

For about the first year or two of your periods, they will probably be irregular. After a couple of years or so, they usually even out although some woman always have irregular periods. This definitely doesn't affect your chances of having children.

Kayla,
Don't worry it's NORMAL. When you get your very first period, you're going to skip some after. It'll come soon, I promise. It is not serious at all. And it doesn't affect you having kids.

Sweetie, you're fine. The first 3-4 years of having your period, it's normally not on a perfect schedule. You'll be able to have children. It's not serious at all. You'll be fine! But if you keep stressing about not getting your period, it's not going to come any sooner. As a tip: If you do anything that causes stress or any physical activity, it delays your period. Nothing is wrong with you. You're FINE. It happened to me when I first started my period. You'll be fine. Hope this helped.

It's normal, because when you first start your period, it can get very irregular. But if you skip another one, I would see a gyno about it, because there could be something wrong. Good luck!
Hope I helped!

This is normal. Your period is irregular for about 3 years. People get their periods in different ways: every month, every other month, every 6 months, or maybe even every year. all depends! :)

Don't worry, you're fine. When most girls start their period they don't have an exact menstrual cycle down yet. So, this means that some people may not get their period for a year. don't worry once you get it you will be able to have kids. Good Luck!

Hey there. I wouldn't worry about this at all. What is happening is absolutely completely natural. Your period can often skips a couple months and be really irregular for the first 3 years or so of having a period. Another thing is, if you are really athletic, sometimes that can cause you to skip. I wouldn't worry about not being able to have kids. You are gunna be just fine! :)
