My mom

Question Posted Wednesday December 29 2004, 2:49 pm

My mom seems to think that only black people wear brands such as Roccawear, Baby Phat and Ecko. I like the clothes and she wont let me wear them because on the websites the people who are modeling them happen to be black. So tell me really, do these brands are truly only worn by Africans?

NO. brands arnt made just for one specific color group. The main reason you probably only see blacks modeling the clothling is because they are the main people who wear it.Its kinda a stereo Type . Like most the shops in most malls have white models but that doesnt mean that different colored people arnt supposed to wear it. Its just some typical stereo Type that someone made up .

It all depends on the person, most black people dont prefer wearing things like abercrombie or hollister but like i said it all depends on the who u r and who u associate with. I dont think that it matters what color you are you can wear whatever you want as long as you like it! Hope i helped a little! Xox*Janie

Nope, those brands aren't for African Americans. Yes, they do wear them but they are still for other people too. I wear a lot of Roccawear and Ecko close and I'm not African American. Just talk to your mom and tell her they aren't for African Americans. Bring her to the mall and show her some stores that sell those brands. Hope I helped :)

SwEeTdReAmZ answered Wednesday December 29 2004, 3:44 pm:
Although most of the people who model the brands of clothing you would like to wear may be african american or latino, even white people can wear the clothing. The models are just there to represent Roccawear, baby Phat and Ecko. Show your mom somthing she may like by that brand and maybe she will ease up. hope i helped **please rate**

Majority of people that wear those brands are african-american... but i've seen tons of other races wearing them... hispanic, white, asian, indian... im Pakistani... & i love Babyphat... tell your mom your old enough to pick out your own clothes... & it's not like those brands are inappropriate... so she doesn't have much of a reason to disapprove

No those brands are not only worn by African Americans. Your mom is sterotyping people by what they wear. Yes a majority of people who wear for example FUBU and Ecko are black but anyone can wear it.

Hell no!!!! I always wear baby phat and I'm white!!!!The girl that designs the baby phat clothing line, Kimora Lee Simmons, happens to be Oriental(Chinese,Japanese, etc.), not black or white. I love their clothes and they are not made for black ppl only cuz at my school, black or white, you be wearin Rocawear or Ecko and you look good-----and yea some poeple will be labeling you as a wigga (white nigga), but they are close-minded idiots with low self-esteem. So tell your mom that ery body can wear anything they want!!!It's a free country!!!

Michelley answered Wednesday December 29 2004, 3:04 pm:
I think they're made mostly for black people, but white people can wear them too. It's just a style that a lot of black people like, but its not likw white people CAN'T wear those types of clothes. I see white people wearing those brands all the time. If you ACT black and wear those kinda of clothes people might start calling you a wigger (*white n....) but thats only if you like, think you're black. Just explain it to your mom and if she doesn't understand..then it sucks but you have to do what she says
