Question Posted Saturday December 18 2004, 2:03 am

I have a rat and my brother gave me another one and put them in the same cage and they started fighting and one of them has cuts under his chin so I was wondering if I should just let them heal or do something about it.Thanks

Rodants will fight unless they were born together, or kept in the same cage from birth. put the in seprate cages and the one that is injured keep an eye on, if it gets worse take it to the vet.

Well, just for the info, I would keep one in a cage up stairs and one down stairs, and they reason im not saying to put them in seprate cages next to each other is becuase bettas( type of fish) if bettas are close to each other they will fight to death. you heard me to DEATH. So you might have to call a vet. but anyway to your problem. i think you should just let it heal.

It sounds like, the first one doesn't like the other one, because he took his territory. My cat does that. We just got a kitten a few months ago, and my first cat still doesn't like the kitten. I would put them in separate cages. Good luck!
Hope I helped!

I had two hamsters, mother and daughter. It seems that they got territorial, and although it is very sad, one ended up killing the other... my advice is to separate them before anything bad like that happens. LUCK!

You should definatly do something about it fast! Take it to the vet and put the other rat in a different cadge ASAP! If you don't do something the rat could get poisioned. You need to take it to a vet and get a new cadge!
Here to help!

You should definitly put the rats in separate cages. My brother had 2 rats one time that did the exact same thing and 1 of the rats ate the other 1. Yah its crazy. So get 2 separate cages for the rats and maybe take the rat into a vet to get those cuts checked out.

Don't let the poor rats in the same cage! Put some cardboard in between them. If they nibble through you might have to get an extra cage.

Happy Holidays!

Well i did that with my guinea pigs and it took like probably a month or two for them actually to get use to eachother but now when i pick beanie up.. oreo squeaks until she comes back into the cage so i usually end up picking them both up so i would just leave it and go from there. I just tap beanie and oreo on the nose and say no no thats bad. And i dont know if they can understand my words.. but they get the point that its bad

((please rate))

Put the cats in seperate cages and let the wounds heal. If they get infected or don't heal in like a week or so, then go to the vet. I hoped i helped!! :)
