Why did I choose the username Nyx? Nyx is the ancient goddess of Night in Greek mythology, daughter of Chaos. She is a primal ancestress, and mother of many deities by Her brother Erebus (Darkness). Her children are for the most part dark sorts and include the Moerae (the three Fates), Nemesis (justice and divine retribution), winged Hypnos (Sleep) and His brother Thanatos (Death), Moros (Doom), the Keres, goddesses of violent death, Oizys (Misery), the Hesperides who guarded the golden apples, Deceit, Friendship, Old Age and Eris(Discord).
She was depicted as riding in a chariot, trailing stars and bringing the night, and accompaied by Her sons Hypnos and Thanatos. She could be helpful or harmful to mankind, bringing either sleep or death. Nyx had prophetic powers, and gave them to oracles from a cave. She was older and more powerful than Zeus, who deferred to Her wishes.
advice
How many of you think you should believe something a drunk person says about how they feel about you?
My friend once said, "Alcohol is the truth serum".
Your opinions, please.
This can be true, and also fake at the same time. Basically, if you're wanting to know if a guy says,"I love you." when he's drunk, if it's the truth. It's really hard to say. A lot of men will say that just to get a woman into bed. When drunk, if a man is telling you,"You're so beautiful, I love you, I want to be with you forever, yadah yadah yadah." And then you sleep with them... chances are he'll ditch you the next day. He got what he wanted.
Also, some people, when drunk, will make up elaborite lies about who they are, their past, etc. So, no... drinking is not going to get you the truth. Not all the time, not most of the time. If you want the truth from someone, ask them straight up, face to face, in a sober mind. And then you will get a true answer without any outside influences(such as alcohol).
Hi dear, Am vishal, sorry to bother you, am someone from Mauritius, pls can you help me and tell me how can I know if the one I love is cheating me?? I mean am not a good detective to be able to follow her but let say if she had an affair with someone, how can I test her?? Pls help.
It's really hard to say, as I do not know you, your lover, or your relationship. However, I will tell you what I have read from a great source.
If a comparison on women fidelity is made between the women of today and those of our mother's or grandmother's time, we can see that over the years the number of women who have cheated on their spouse has increased. Well, this isn't to say that women have grown to be less faithful over the years but it's more like marriage these days are more stressful and given the fact that most women are working, husband and wife spend less time with each other.
So, why do wives cheat on their husband? Unlike men, women rarely cheat consciously. What I meant by consciously is that women don't usually actively go out and seek men to have an affair with. Well, there is still a small group that actively seeks men out but for the better part of women who have affairs, it just happened. These women are usually emotionally vulnerable when the affair starts; meaning that their own marriage is going through a rough patch.
What are the tell tale signs that your wife is cheating on you? Honey, if you see your wife splurging on new lingerie and you don't see those baby dolls when she's lying next to you, you'd better start paying attention to what she does and where she goes. If she goes all out and bust your credit card on new clothes, facials, sliming program and new hairdo, all the more reason for you to check up on your little lady. Chances are she's in 'love' and you are not the object of her affection.
Women in general love to talk, so if your spouse suddenly stops confiding in you or seeking your advice and opinion, she's most likely getting it from somewhere else. Unlike men, women thrive on emotional support, if she feels that she is not getting it from you or feels that you have lost interest in her, it is only a matter of time before she strays and start cheating behind your back.
If your wife starts going out frequently for long hours telling you that she is attending to a sick friend, watch out! Her 'sick friend' may not be sick but sure as hell is getting a lot of TLC. Or she takes 5 hours to do grocery shopping instead of the usual 2 hours - another sign of a cheating wife.
How to catch a cheating wife? A good way to start will be your wedding ring. The prominent object that would very likely be missing on cheating wives is their wedding ring. Well, you can't blame them now, can you… you wouldn't want to walk around advertising your marital status when you stray, right? Naturally, the 'ring' would have to be missing!
If you see this pattern in your marriage, get some electronic gadget from the local hardware and set up a surveillance system to gather evidence. While you are at that, start working very hard to salvage your marriage. All the hard work will not go to waste as a loving relationship is very fulfilling and helps you through rough times while a destructive relationship is bad for the health.

Hope I helped, and I hope she's not cheating on you. Lots of love and support.
well my cat is scared of me everytime i come near him he'll hiss at me.i don't know what to do someone please help...
will give 5 stars...
When my husband and I got our two new little kittens, one was friendly and active, and the other was scared to death. It's been a month since we got them, and now the little scared kitten is playful and outgoing.
How did we do it? You get down to the cat's level. DO NOT rush the cat. DO NOT force the cat to be held or pet if it does not want to. Just get down to his level, and get a string toy. Try playing with the cat for a while. If the cat plays with you, try dragging the string closer to your body(drawing the cat closer in play to you). Don't reach out and pet the cat during this though, you might scare him. Just let him get used to the fact that he can be near you without you trying to do anything to him. Eventually, you'll be able to slowly stick your hand out and have him come sniff at you. And eventually after that you'll be able to pet him when he chooses.
Another way to make friends with him is treats. At first, you might not want to make any noise when you give him a treat. But when he gets used to you giving him treats, eventually you'll want to make some kind of noise like shaking the treat jar, or whistling the same tune each time you are about to give him a treat. Eventually, your cat will recognize that every time you make this sound he'll get a treat. So over time, even if he's in a different room of the house, all you'd have to do is make that sound and he'll come running to you.
I hope that helps
I'm a girl. There's this boy, we hang out. He likes me, I'm 98% sure. He was hurt during and after his last relationship for a really long time. While we hang out and cuddle and just be together we talk and he told me that he see's a future with me and it scares him. I didn't necessarily take this as a bad thing. However, the more I think about it, the more I wonder. What are all of your opinions on this?
Second part.
Also, he doesn't seem too ready to date any time soon. Then there's this guy, who I really really used to dig when I was like 15. I'm 18, now. We're friends, but I think he wants to try something more. I like this other guy, in the above paragraph, however, I don't know if I should wait for him, or see if I like this friend of mine. My gut feelings are telling me that I'm young, and should play out both fields. What are your opinions?
K Thanks.
You are young, and you shouldn't have to wait around for said guy #1 to make up his mind wether he's ready to date or not. If he wants to date you, then he wants to. If he's not ready, then he's not ready, and that shouldn't stop you from dating anyone else in the mean time. Simply give him his chance to date you. If he says that he's not ready, go for guy #2.
This way, if guy #1 gets upset, it's not your fault. You gave him the chance, he didn't take it. Of course, if you used to dig guy #2 when you were 15, but you don't know if you like him like that or not anymore, don't rush things too fast with him. Just play everything slowly, and by your heart, and nothing should go wrong.
i have a question
people alwayss say to drink water so lose weight..well i dont want to lose weight but i was woundering how does water help u lose weight?
thanks for the help!
Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This it self will discourage any tendency to gorge. The best thing about water is that is has no calories at all.
Water is extremely healthy for you. Not only will it help you to not eat a lot, and not only will it wash away toxins in your body, but it'll also leave your skin much more radiant.
hey guys i was just wondering, do any of you know where to get the belly dancer things like the one in akons video? u wrap it around ur waist and i was wondering where can i buy them? i live in NY and im 14/F
You know, I'm really into bellydancing too... I'd love a video, and all the cool things to go with it. I went to Ebay and typed in belly dancing, and I got a ton of pages of sashes, skirts, jingles, videos and more. Vibrant colors, silvers and golds... pretty much anything you want and more can be found on Ebay.
It has been 2 weeks and 2 days and I still have my period. Is there something wrong with me? Do I need to go to a doctor? I am kinda sexually active, I have done it with my boyfriend only 3 times, only him, did he give me something, but we use protection can you please help me? Rate 5 for all good useful answers.
Sometimes periods last longer if your progesterone levels are low. It happened to me once... had my period for three weeks. The doctor put me on a different birth control and it made everything right again. I suggest you look into Ortho Cyclen, not only will it help your period regulate, but you'll also be needing it since you are sexually active.
Chocolate also helps to increase progesterone levels... so you can try eating a lot of chocolate while you're waiting to get on the Birth Control.
I have another question, earlier i asked one about breaking up with my boyfriend and still likeing him and we became friends with benefits. well we were both were virgins and lost are virginities together. It was my first time so it didnt really feel to good. after he asked me if i felt good an i told him no. we did it a couple more times after that time and it still didnt really feel the best. i guess it got him angry bc he told my sister and his friends that i hate sex. is it normal to feel like that after your first time? is something wrong, what should i do?
No pumpkin. My first time was unbearable. My second, third, fourth, even fifth time wasn't that great either. I lightly bled those times as well. It's completely normal. It just takes a little while and alittle patients. It will get better, trust me. You just need to take it slow, and perhaps the next time you have sex don't let him take the reins... you take the reins and try figuring things out that you'll like.
If the problem is that he has a hard time getting into you, I suggest purchasing some lubricant. It really works wonders and will help him slide in and out of you a little more efficently without stretching you or making you burn down there.
If the problem is that you feel he's hitting the back of your vagina(where the cirvex is), which can be either painful, or just plain uncomfortable, you might want to ask him not to go as deep.
If the problem is neither, then it might be that his penis is just too small to give any real pleasure, or that he doesn't know how to properly give sex.
If you want to get back at this looser for spreading it around that you don't like sex, I suggest that anyone who asks you about it you reply with,"Well... maybe I'd like it if someone knew how to properly give it." This should make him think twice before trying to bash you.
So I’m engaged to be married in one year. I was raised Christian and although I don’t go to church or anything any more my I do still believe. My fiancé is an atheist. It’s really important to me (and to my family) to get married in the church but he says that would be ‘compromising his beliefs’ and doesn’t want to. I don’t care if we never step foot in a church again but my uncle is a priest and I can’t tell him that he can’t preside over my wedding! I’ve always known and respected that we don’t feel the same way about religion but I want to spend the rest of my life with this guy but I don’t know what to do about the wedding. Any advice?
If he was atheist he would have no beliefs, and so getting married in a church for the one he loves really shouldn't be that big of a deal. Atheists believe in nothing. No God or Goddess, no heavan, no hell, no life after death. They don't go to church, they don't pray... they simply have no beliefs. So getting married in a church can't 'compromise his beliefs' since technically he doesn't have any.
However, simply sit him down and explain to him that this is important to you. Tell him that you don't need to get married in a chuch(compromise with him on that), but that you would like your Uncle to marry you. If he truely loved you, he would realize just how important this is to you, and allow it. That's what real love is. If one person doesn't really care about something a whole lot, and another person really does care about it, the person who doesn't care should let the person who does care about it have their way.
I mean, think about it... if the positions were reversed, and you believed in nothing, and he was christian wanting to get married in a church or by a priest, and it really ment a lot to him, you would allow it, right? Besiedes, the wedding is supposed to be the woman's 'day'. And if your family is paying for the majority of the wedding, then you should get to choose where and who marries you.
So, my guy and I went ring shopping today and picked out rings.
The problem is gonna be my mom. He gave me an antique ring on valentine's day almost two years ago, and I've been wearing that one, but we picked one that will be sized to fit my left ring finger. Basically, we are engaged, but we're keeping it quiet until about halfway through college, when it'll be more acceptable to my parents.
This ring kind of looks like an engagement ring, but it's not a diamond. That's the only thing, though it is a single stone, which is symbolic enough. My mom is extremely against my getting married young (we're planning to get married in four or five years, so there's no rush at all, but my mom wouldn't understand that). I'm 17 and he's 19. I'll be 18 in October. Anyway, my mom's gonna freak out when she sees the ring on that finger, and essentially a wedding band on his.
What do I say to her?
Please, no smartass remarks. I'll just rate you down for stupidity.
Thanks in advance. =)
When people get engaged, the male doesn't wear a wedding band until they are actually married. However, if he wants to wear the ring, and your mother happens to notice, simply reply that they are promise rings. Promise rings are pretty big amongst people who've been dating for a while.
What is a promise ring? It's a promise to eachother that you will remain faithful to eachother, even though you aren't engaged or even married. It's a promise that one day you will get engaged.
Since the stone is not diamond, your mother would be more likely to accept that story. Although she might ask why you're not wearing it on your right hand. Just take it in small strides, and don't go around telling all your friends you're engaged. If you tell a lot of people it's bound to get back to her ears.
If it does get back to her ears, then don't lie about it. Simply state the facts that you provided me. "Yes, we are engaged, however we are not planning on getting married for another 4 to 5 years." That should ease her a little.
I WANT TO TAKE UP A DOGWALKING JOB!
what prices should i do for
grooming
baths & shampooing & flea conditioner
bathroom breaks
walks and bathroom breaks
dogsitting
and let me know if you can think any other things to do for the animals!
ill rate HIGH^
thanks
))) me (((
You could also take up pet sitting. A lot of people go away on vacation and need someone to watch their pets for them. I did it once, and it was so much fun.
Just advertise yourself as a pet care rep. That you'll walk dogs, that you'll petsit, that you'll train them. Anyways... I never had price ranges set up when I advertised myself. I always told the people I was pet sitting for that they could give me whatever they thought I was worth.
Be sure not to just advertise for dogs... advertise for cats as well(unless you're allergic to them), that way you're appealing to not just one crowd(dog-lovers), but to more than one crowd.
Ive been with the same guy for what soon will be 5 years, and i love him with all my heart, he is my first love and i think im his first love too, ive given my all to him, but sometimes i feel he takes me for granted..theirs points were i cant stop crying, cuz its so hard, but truly hes the only one i have, im so in love and so scared to let go yet being with him is driving me crazy and i just dont know what to do!!!!!!!!!! i feel stuck because im so scared of being without him yet it hurts at the same time being with someone who wont commit with me and who will ignore me at times...AHHHH (im 22)
Aw, Sweetie. I've been in the same boat as you... I was with a guy for 3 years, and I thought I really did love him. During those three years he was harming me in ways I didn't even know... controlling and possessive. During the last few months between the two of us, he was choosing his druggie friends over me(though I don't think he was using drugs). He was not at all concerned about my depression and suicide attempt but more worried about his sexual needs.
I cried and cried... and then it was my last straw. I told him he needed to choose between me or his friends. He chose his friends over me. I wont tell you it didn't hurt. I wont tell you that I didn't want him back. But I will tell you it was the best thing I ever did.
By the sounds of it, your boyfriend is not for you. You're crying all the time, he's taking you for granted. If he truely loves you, and you truely love him, I suggest talking about the problems you are having. Try working through them. If he's not interested, or if he doesnt' try, then it seriously would be best for you to leave him. It's difficult to leave someone you've been with for so long. You're used to it, it's the norm now... you wouldn't really know how to get back into the dating scene, or how to be single again. There is so many things that could easily scare someone into staying with someone who's not good for them.
But you just have to grit your teeth and do it. After I broke up with my ex, I was a little distraught for perhaps a month. I slowly got over him, started to take better care of myself. And then 6 months later I met another guy, who is now my husband. Please remember that you need to do what you need to do to take care of YOU. Everything happens for a reason, you might not see the reasons, but one day you'll look back and be thankful you made the choice you did.
my boyfriend and i have been going out for about 8 months, and we havent done anything sexual yet. all we do is make out ALL the time. lately he has been asking me to give him oral sex, which i am willing to do. the problem is, i have never given head before and my boyfriend has never gotten it before neither. i know how to give it, im just worried that i may do something wrong and my boyfriend wont enjoy it. if anybody can give me any advice id appreciate it. thanks. i rate high =)
Oh, Pumpkin... the only way you can go wrong is if you bite his dick off. But pretty much anything you do orally to a mans penis, he's going to like. And since he's never recieved it before, he wont be able to compare you to anyone else... so you'll litterally be the best he's ever had.
Word of caution before you give him head... don't go too deep too fast or you might hit the gag reflex in the back of your throat and vomit. Also, decide before you do this if you want him to cum in your mouth(and if he does wether you're going to spit and swallow). I know a lot of people that HATE the taste of cum, and have a rag right next to them when they are giving head. When the man is about to cum, he'll tell her and she'll pull her mouth off and let him cum into the rag. Other girls take the cum in their mouth because they think it's better for the man that way, and they get used to the bitter taste. It's all up to the individual. But BE READY!
Me and my boyfriend were talking and he told me he doesnt want me to hang out with Derrick even though ill have my best friend Ann with me.. My bf will be at the lakes. So he thinks i dont know what he thinks. He's asking me if i'd be wierded out if he and Scott hung out with Julie and i said no.. cuz theres 2 guys and 1 girl. its just a group of friends its a 1 on 1 type of thing. Am i wrong in this.. i mean im allowed to have friends.. arent I?
Ok, this sounds to me like a double standard relationship(to his bennifit), and those never work out. Either he is allowed to hang out with another guy and another girl and the same time, and likewise you can hang out with Derrick as long as your girlfriend is with you... or neither of you are allowed to hang out with anyone of the opposite gender(even if someone of the same gender is there as well).
You are allowed to have your own friends, just as he is. However, since you are in a realationship with eachother, you should both respect eachother enough not to hang out one on one with a member of the opposite gender. However, I see no problem with hanging out with a member of the opposite gender as long as there are others around as well. Your boyfriend just needs to get over his issues with not allowing you to hand out with Derrik and Ann, or he needs to stop hanging out with any girl all together.
Double-standard relationships never work, and always end in bad breakups with resentment and anger. It's one standard for you(no hanging out with a guy and a girl), and then a completely different standard for him(he can hang out with a guy and a girl). You need to quickly bring this up to him, and change it so you are both under the same standard.
alright well,to get straight to the point, I'm paranoid and an insomniac.. is there a connection between the two?
There very well might be a connection. I remember when I was a kid, I was paranoid that spiders were in my bed with me. I was unable to get to sleep for hours and hours, jumping up every 5 to ten minutes to switch on the light and check the sheets.
If you are paranoid that someone might break in, or that there are bugs in your bed, or that the house might catch on fire then chances are the two are interlinked. When you try to go to sleep, do you just lay in bed thinking and dwelling on the things you're paranoid about? If so, then yes, the two are interlinked.
Everyone needs sleep. You should probably make an appointment with a therapist, who might be able to help you.
yes i do have 1 more question. what is this religion? wicca?
Wicca is an ancient nature religion that dates back to the Neolithic times. These religions weren't called Wicca, but were generally reffered to by archaeologists and historians as Goddess religions. Witch and Wicca were used much later, during the European Middle Ages. Before that, Witches were known as shamans or wise men and wise women, or followers of the Old Way.
Witchcraft is only a very small part of a large religious community called Paganism. The words Wicca, Witchcraft, and the Craft are actually interchangable. Some followers call themselves Wiccan and thus avoid the steryotyped mental image of the ugly evil Witch. Others use the name Witch hoping to remold that stereotyped image in modern minds.
Like Christianity, there are many different branches of Wicca(In Christiantity there is Lutheren, Catholic, Presbyterian, etc). In Wicca some branches are Celtic, Dianic, Alexandrian, Garenerian, Egyptian, Kitchen, Roman, Green, Natural...
There is so much to explain about Wicca that one solitary person can not do it all on their own in a short amount of time. So I have gathered a few helpful websites that you can browse through at your own leisure.
http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchcra.htm
http://www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/wicca0.htm
http://www.rickross.com/groups/wicca.html
I saw you using the word "wiccan". What does this word mean?
Someone who worships Christianity is a Christian. Wicca is a religion. Wiccan is the person who is of that faith. Any other questions about Wicca?
im a columnist..im not obsessed over ratings but im just wondering why is it when i get 3 5's as a rating in a row, my rating doesnt always go up? but if i ever get a 4...or a rare 3...my rating always goes down?
anyone else have the same problem?
I am having the same problem with this issue. And I wish I could enlighten you a little on what's going on with it, but I'm confused now more than ever. I noticed that my AVERAGE rating is 4.88. I have seven 5 ratings, and one 4.
To get the average of this it would be 5+5+5+5+5+5+5+4 and then take the sum divided by 8. The average then is 5.5
The average ratings really don't make much sence, and again I'm sorry I couldn't give you much help.
Why do people think that we are like Satanic and that we're like completly evil..me and you both know that Wicca is not at all even close to that
Well... to tell the truth, many people are ignorant when it comes to Wicca. There is a large amoung of misinformation floating around about Wicca(for example, that we worship the devil, or that we eat babies). These erroneous ideas are fueled by lurid movies, television, and scandal magazines, and the anti-everything-not-orthodox fanatics. Extremist christians believe this(especially the older ones).
I don't think Wicca will be nationally accepted as a religion any time soon, but I think one day it will. There are far too many ignorant people in the world right now for it to be nationally accepted in the USA. Another issue is that there are so many newer people claiming to be witches because they think it's 'cool', and that all Goths are Wiccan, and that you will be blessed with the ability to turn your worst enemy into a magot. These are the people who know nothing about our faith and walk around saying,"You better shut up or I'll cast a spell on you!" This also gives us real Wiccans a bad name.
The best that we can ever do is try to maturely explain to other people what our religion REALLY is. Wether they choose not to believe us or to, it's up to them... but at least we tried our hardest to inform them of the truth.
I hope that helped. If you have any other Wiccan related questions don't hesitate to ask!
I am a Wiccan and so is my boyfriend. I told my mom he was (but not me) now she won't let me see him. My mom's a very conservative Christian who is very judgmental andtakes everything personaly. Should I tell her I'm a Wiccan, my boyfriend says I should..because even though we can sneek and talk we can't sneek and see each other and I'm only 16 so I still have 2 years before I can move out.
PS- I'm worried that if I tell her she will have me on complete lock down
I'm Wiccan as well... I have been for about 8 years now, and I can tell you from experience that coming out of the "broom closet" is difficult. However, it might be best for you and your boyfriend if you did tell your mother.
Simply sit her down and tell her that you are. She will most likely get upset, thinking your boyfriend 'corrupted' you... but be sure to tell her that you were before you met him(wether it's the truth or not), so that she will know he wasn't the one who turned her 'baby' into a 'devil worshiper'.
Next, explain to her what Wicca is... that it's a nature based life-affirming religion like any other religion. That you don't believe in the devil. That you don't go around doing crazy spells to make people's hair fall out because it's not possible. And answer any and all questions and concerns that she might have regarding the faith.
If you have any books about it, let her see them to read in her spare time, so she can better understand. Or you can show her helpful websites. She might scream and hollar, and make you go to church and 'repent' or whatever... but faith and belief is something that no one can make you change. You may have to go to church with her every sunday... but that doesn't mean you have to believe in the docrtine of christiaity.
As far as lock down, I'm hoping that she will be reasonable and see that it's completely insane and wrong to ground someone for choosing a faith different than her own. And she certianly can't put you on lockdown for 2 more years!
