Just a question

Question Posted Tuesday September 6 2005, 2:07 am

How many of you think you should believe something a drunk person says about how they feel about you?

My friend once said, "Alcohol is the truth serum".

Your opinions, please.

Edit:
These are fair responses, however, this person and I had a conversation about how much we each remembered. It went something like this:

Person: "I remember more than you think"
Me: "Like what?"
Person: "I love you"

Plus, we hang out every weekend, talk on the phone, and it's not like we have sex every time we're around each other. So...does it still seem like I shouldn't believe this person?

It could be true. But I think its not. Because there drunk and have no idea what they are saying. When your drunk you can not control what you say or do. It could be true that it is but I dont think it is. Because they may say it but than the next day there gonna forget all about it. Like your gonna say " aww that was soo sweet what you said to me last night " and they would be like " yeah sure ? " all confused. So if they aid something like " i love you " and than you got shocked than the next day when there sober you go " i love you 2 " hes gonna be like all " huh ? ". You see there not going to know what they said. So I wouldnt belive what they say. hope I helped <3

Alcohol may lower your inhibitions but in no way is it a truth serum, if anything, it seems to make people more prone to stupid lies.

Alcohol can influence choices people would otherwise not make, they can tell off an employer or friend, even if they respect them, tell a complete stranger "I love you man!" Alcohol also makes the recipient of these stupid comments more likely to believe them.

I wouldn’t believe much that someone told me while drunk; actually I’d get rather offended if they tried to convince me of something while drunk. If anyone ever told me they love me or hated me, while drunk, I’d laugh in their face.

This can be true, and also fake at the same time. Basically, if you're wanting to know if a guy says,"I love you." when he's drunk, if it's the truth. It's really hard to say. A lot of men will say that just to get a woman into bed. When drunk, if a man is telling you,"You're so beautiful, I love you, I want to be with you forever, yadah yadah yadah." And then you sleep with them... chances are he'll ditch you the next day. He got what he wanted.

Also, some people, when drunk, will make up elaborite lies about who they are, their past, etc. So, no... drinking is not going to get you the truth. Not all the time, not most of the time. If you want the truth from someone, ask them straight up, face to face, in a sober mind. And then you will get a true answer without any outside influences(such as alcohol).
