So i just deleted realplayer off my computer.. it has windows vista on it... but my computer wont let me delete the shortcut on my desktop.... how do i delete it off there?

Go Start menu> control panel> Programs and features> click on real player> click "uninstall".

Follow the steps when the uninstall box appears. That should do the trick.

Yes. If you dont use Mozilla Firefox, dowload and install it, then go Here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006 and install the download helper. When it recognizes a video, like on youtube it animates the icon. You can then click on the icon and download the video.

ok so im 14/f and still TERRIFIED of the dark. every night when i go to sleep i imagine murderers breaking in and killing me. I don't watch scary movies anymore, just a few here and there. the old ones still come back to haunt me, i'll remember any scary thought when it's nighttime. the fact that my house is PITCH BLACK at night doesn't help at all either. i really really desperately need help, i'm scared to go to bed at night. i can't even get up to go pee because im scared the killer with "hear me". i want to use a nightlight, but i don't want my parents to think i'm a wuss, i mean i'm 14!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me find a way to be comfortable in my own house at night.

Well,first off thanks for asking me.

Frankly I'm not quite sure how to answer this, but i certainly understand your problem.
Being afraid of the dark is a legitimate and very common fear, many people much older than you are in the same situation.
I guess my point is that its not really something to feel ashamed about, and that it shouldn't matter what other people think about you.
So, I suggest leaving your bedside lamp on or something like that, and if anyone asks just say that you like sleeping with a light on.

And thinking about it logically, what are the chances of some killer breaking into your house and murdering you? Next to none.

So, turn a light on, close the blinds, whatever helps you sleep. And think about it logically, the fear though real, is ridiculous.
Over time you need to learn to get over it and convince yourself that nothing bad is going to happen to you, that there aren't monsters under the bed, and there aren't axe murderers in the hallway closet.

Good luck, just remember that its ok to be afraid of the dark, and that you can get over it eventually.

I am going to Costa Rica with my family, and we still have not set out a schedule. I am more of the go-with-the-flow type, so I rarely plan activities in advance, regardless of the situation. This time around ,however, is a bit different. We still need to decide on which areas to see, where to stay, etc.

For anyone who is familiar with Costa Rica, either through traveling or living there, any information on the following is appreciated:

- Which parts of the country (cities, sites, etc.) do you recommend the most? We would love to just see nature, beaches, etc., and as much as possible, try to stay away from the crowds.

-What is the transportation like there? Which mode is preferred?

- What activities do you recommend? Although I don't want to pack our schedule too much (we would love to just relax too), I think it would still be great to experience some fun things too.

Some places that I recommend from my trip to Costa Rica are:

Monteverde- its waaay up in the mountains, and has a really cool rainforest with guided hikes.

There are also some really cool canopy tours (zip lines).

Arenal-its right next to a volcano. Are natural hot springs that make great hot tubs, its really cool. At night if you look to the mountain you can see it glowing orange. http://www.arenal.net/
We stayed at the Tabacon hotel, REALLY nice, but pricey.

Playas del Coco was a really nice beach town, with great swimming and activities. you can go snorkeling, diving, atv tours,etc...

You asked about transportation-Renting a car is the best way, just make sure you have a few good maps, and advice from hotel staff on how to get where your going next. If you rent a car go for a Honda CR-V, or a Toyota RAV-4, trust me, it you do anything off the main roads (which is the most fun)you'll need four wheel drive.

Actually, Razhie, in South Carolina where Colbert announced he is running (yes, only s. Carolina) you can legally run as both parties. I was listening to an interview with him on NPR this morning and he (truthfully) said that it can be done.

I would vote for him.

I do think that he will run for real, but I agree that he wont make it very far. Hell probably just pull it off with a joke and a laugh, but hey, its a good publicity stunt, isn't it?

Hey, you answered my question about the beginner bike. I just wanted to know what you think people think about female bikers (not fat/butch chicks, but attractive girls). Stereo types and such. Say, your going down the road and you see a 17 year old girl on a sport bike, what's your first impression?

Ok, in all seriousness this is a tough question. I personally would find that girl even more appealing than did she not ride. Keep in mind that thats my first impression, and maybe the girl isn't so great off the bike, thats just my first impression. Some people may just she her as being rebellious...I'm not sure. Maybe it comes down to the person/group that holds their own stereotype.

But regardless of what people think, don't do something because of that. Who cares what the old lady down the street thinks? (ahem, yes there is a story to that)

It is a misconception that limewire is illegal. Lime wire is legal when you pay for it, OR when during the installation process you select the option to not share your music on your computer with other users.

Also try purevolume.com (they are free and legal), but their selection is not nearly that of Limewire.

Will taping your nose up eventually chnage the structure of your nose? and would it have any effect on your nose passages, and whatnot? thanks. x x

In order to change the shape of youre nose with tape, it would have to be really tight, squashing your nose, and it would not be comfortable at all. There is a severe probabilty that it would cause damage.
You would have to tape it for so long, like all the time, it would look stupid, probobly hurt, cause damage, ect.
If you want to alter your nose structure the only solution is surgery.

When I look at a girl, I see her as a person, not the little makeup smear, and sometimes (well, more often I think) the little imperfections are the cutest thing. For example, sometimes with my ex girlfriend, she was the best looking when she didnt do anything with her hair, and that little wisp just kinda fell over her eye.

What do I look for in a girl?

Personality (humor, truthfullness, kindness)
When she is confident about herself, and knows that she looks good no matter what.
Openness.
A girls that is kind to others, as well as me.
A girl that doesnt play games-and respects me for who I am-as well as herself.
A girl that isnt afraid to show her love.

Ok, I have a question that has been bothering me for a while.
If something like this happens, which it probably does on a regular basis:

Does everything in the area get electrocuted because it's conducted by water? And if so, if you're close enough, in a boat made out of steel or something that conducts electricity, would you get electrocuted? And how far away would you have to be to not get electrocuted and why? I'm not the best at physics, but I'm imagine electricity has something similar to a half-life?

I am not an expert, but no i do not think that everything in the immediate water gets electrocuted. Water is not really that great of a conductor, so the shock (i think) would be "blunted". i also believe that the electricity would disperse rapidly, and that a fish 20 yards away might just feel a little twinge.
so yes, i do think that lightning only has a severe impact on things it stikes and things very close to what it strikes. (this is different from half-life by the way, half-life is used for dating artifacts)
as for being in a boat, the only reason the lightning struck the water, is because there was nothing closer (higher up) to discharge on...like a boat.
baaad idea to be in a boat on the water in a storm.

ok ok, first off, dont think that there are solutions as easy as "just eat this" to get rid of fat, and its not the amount of carbs and fat that make you fat, its how much you use.
basically, there are 4 calories per gram of carbs, 4 per gram of protiens, and 9 per gram of fats. the calories from these foods is used to make energy for your body, and what doesnt get used is generally stored as fat on your body.
for example, i need to eat closer to 3,000 calories per day when im playing an intense sport, or working out alot, and if i ate that much calories when i was just vegging, then the unused calories would be stored as fat.
as to your questioon of gaining weight without fat, muscle weight to mass is alot more than fat, in other words, i pound of fat takes up more space than one pound of muscle. so to gain weight and not fat, work out 3 times a week and i would consultt your school nurse or personal fitness teacher (i assume your in school).
to make fat go away, you need to burn more calories than you take in, which draws from your fat reserves.
again, consult someone face to face for a more presice workout plan.
remember, there is NO miracle solution, and you have to work at it consistently to get results, and get them you will.

I have a very random question to ask everyone. When you read the word advicenators in your head (or speak it out loud) how do you pronounce it? I pronounce it advice-in-ate-ors. I've been apart of this site almost 3 years and never new if that's how it's actually said. It probably is, but for anyone who pronounces it differently, how do you say it? I know it's probably one of the oddest questions you've seen on the site, but at least I'm not asking if I'm ready for sex although I've only been dating the guy for two days or something equally annoying and somewhat common. =D Thanks in advance for answers!

I have a cousin who's 15. Her birthday is coming up and she loves to read. She's into fantasy books, adventure and romance type books. Is there any books or series you would recomend. PLEASE help! I have absolutely no clue what to get her.

i really like the series by Phillip Pullman called "his dark materials" (its fantasy by the way)
the first book of the series is "the golden compass", then "the subtle knife" and i forget the last one...but they were really good!

The first time I asked this question almost all of the information I got was useless.

I've pierced my lip unprofessionally. The girl who pierced my lip has done three mouth/facial piercings to herself, and at least two others for different people - not counting me.


Earlier I had an earring in the hole to keep it from closing. I'm aware that an earring is not the correct gauge. I did NOT pierce my lip with the earring. In fact, I used a much larger needle that now (post asking this question the FIRST time) have pushed that needle through my lip three times.

I've researched this piercing for months now, and got parental permission before I did it.

This is NOT the first home piercing I've gotten.

Does anyone have any CLEANING tips or any suggestions as to what TYPE of ring I should buy to put in it?

(Do refrain from telling me to take it out or about the "cheese grater effect" because I'm already aware of what problems this may cause.)

ok, i read most of your respomses. and they were fairly useless and kinda roundabout. ive had peorcins before, and know many people that have. what you should to is go to a local piercing shop (or even hot topic ive found) and buy a 16 or preferably 18 gauge ring. it will look like a little metal circle with a ball on it. oh, and it should be surgical steel if you really want to be safe. this is the kind of stuff they use for surgical intruments. heres a picture of what you need ((or close to it))--http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000BW3F3G?v=glance
this ring allows easy cleaning and almost no irratation

as for cleaning, you can buy a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide and clean it with that and warm water two times a day, or you can use salt water, or easiest and still very effective you can use a mild antibacterial soap.to do this wet the lip and ring with warm water, rub some soap inbetween your fingers, and then into and around the ring. work the ring through your lip (hmm, how to describe it...kinda like turning a steering wheel, yet its in your lip) and yes it will sting, but thats good. do this two times a day for maybe 1 to 2 monthes depending upon how healed it is already.
