Yes they were....unfortunately though, all the leprechauns, hobbits and elves made the dragons and unicorns go the way of the dinosaurs after a group trip to the North Pole.

Hi I really want to go to new york... BUT it is super expensive to go. I want to stay at a hotel that is close to attractions like the empire state building and madam tussauds wax museum and the central park zoo and all teh great things. Does anyone know why inmates at the Sarasota County Jail in Florida can only stay there for 11 months and 29 days and then they have to be transferred to the prison in Tallahassee? Please give any info. you have. Thanks in advance! =]

Because jails are set up to hold someone up to a year and prisons are for those with sentences longer than a year.

May be expunged from a court record, but if a future employer wants to find out about you, it will always be available and they will find out anyway.

Something was left on my door, like an official piece of cardboard paper. It says it's from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management Federal Investigative Services. The note on it says, "It is necessary that I speak with you regarding an individual who is being considered for a position of trust with the U.S. Government. Your comments regarding this individual's fitness and suitability would be greatly appreciated." It also has the name and phone number of an investigator on it.

Does anyone know what this is about?

Someone applying for a position with the government listed someone at your residence as a character reference for a background investigation. They're not after you, they just want to ask some questions regarding that person.

My mother and sister came home today and told me that they went to the library and when they came back, there was a parking ticket on their car.

Now we never got one before but here's the thing, should we pay?

My sister said that on the pole there was the parking sign and they were parked in between the time it said so nothing was wrong. But after looking around when they got back, they realized the ABOVE that sign, there was a sign with a red symbol (circle with a slash in between it).

So that means that the parking sign wasn't covered or anything so what the heck? If that red sign was meant for no parking, shouldn't it be right on the green parking symbol instead of above it?

Sounds like a no parking zone to me. It's there...just someone didn't read it carefully enough.

Manhattan is not technically a city even though we native NY'ers call it "The City". Manhattan is a BOROUGH of NEW YORK CITY which consists of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens and The Bronx.

The only time it really counts as a "city" is when you mail something there. And its not Manhattan, New York...it's New York, New York.

Okay, to get this all out

I am 17. I turned 17 in June and I got my learners permit in July. I lived in New Jersey and recieved a NJ permit.

This past week, I moved to Florida and I went to the DMV and they told me that in order to get my FLORIDA license I have to have my permit for 1 year ((getting my license in July of next year)), or since I turned 17 already, I had to wait until I turn 18 ((June of next year)).

Since I don't want to wait the extra 6 months because I think it's ridiculous, because in Florida you can get your license when you are 16, I want to get my New Jersey license


ANYWAY!

What I wanted to do, since I do go back to New Jersey and I do have a house there, I wanted to keep my NJ permit, but also get a Florida one since I am living here pretty much full time since my new highschool is out here. So that way, when January comes around ((When I was originally scheduled to take my New Jersey road test to get my New Jersey license)) I was going to go back to NJ to get my Jersey license. But, since I need practice driving I want to get my Florida permit so I can practice driving out here so I will be prepared for my NJ road test. Once I get my New Jersey license, I would then bring it to Florida and have that transfered to my Florida license


I know this is really confusing, but I really have to know if I can do this because I am not about to wait an extra 6 months for my damn license if I don't have to.

Sooner or later you're going to have to get a Florida driver's license in the ways that Florida's laws say you have to anyway since that is your new state of residence. Out of state licenses are honored when the state that issued it has laws in compliance with the state the driver is operating a car in. For example- Someone who is 16 with a full Florida license cannot drive in NY since the minimum age is 17 with Driver's ed; they may have a full license but it is not recognized in the eyes of the state they are driving in. You have to prove residence in the state that you are applying to get a license/permit in, meaning that you can't have licenses/permits from two states at the same time. So you may have a home in Jersey but you make your residence in Florida- you have to play by Florida's rules. You may be able to get a license at 16 in Florida, but that is a moot point for you because you're already past the age of eligibility for that and you're a recent resident with an out of state permit.

Basically- you don't have much choice but to wait it out and acquire a Florida license.

I'm a 13 year old female. So I was thinking about getting an electric moped that I would drive myself and my friends around the neighborhood (it's a 2 seater.) I wouldn't go out of my neighborhood and stuff and my neighborhood is a quiet out of the city neighborhood. Is it against the law to get one and ride it in my neighborhood without a license? I live in Rhode Island if that helps...
