how can i become more comfortable with public speaking?

I have such a hard time with this. But I'm getting a lot better. Here's what I do.

If you're giving a speech in a class:
1. Practice before giving the speech in front of the class. This way, you'll know it and be much more comfortable than if you're just reading it for the first time.

2. I'm sure eye contact is probably part of your grade, so when you need to make eye contact, look at a friend. When you look up, look at somebody you're friends/comfortable with the first time. Then, as you get more comfortable, start looking at other. Or, just keep looking at friends.

3. Make sure you have all the requirments/time limits right. I know this might sound lame, but it helps. When you know you have everything right, you won't be stressing out when reading, wondering 'Am I going to be talking long enough?' or 'Did I cover all my points?'.



When giving a speech at an assembly, etc:
1. Practice even more, and in front of people. Again, this way you will be a lot more comfortable when you're up there speaking.

2. When it comes to eye contact, try not looking at anyone specific. What I have done, is just look at the crowd in general. This way, I'm not focused on somebody if they're distracting or nervous if I'm looking at somebody I don't know.

3. Breathe. This is an obvious one, but breathe in slowly, and stay calm. Don't freak out just because there's a crowd. Just breathe, stay focused on what you're saying, and get it over with (sorry if that sounded negative).

Hello! I'm on my school's student council- and our Winterfest week is coming up. My committee is "Spirit Week" so we have to come up with some spirit days. We have 3 right now and we need 5 total.
I'm not asking you to do my job, but we just have no idea for anymore, and we've been trying to think. We just need some inspiration =].

I like Vitamen Water? I don't mind Hello Kitty?
And I don't consider myself 'scene'.


Scene is just a stereotype.
And all the things that go along with it are just adding to the label.


'Scene kids' are usually the kids who wear skinny jeans, vans, and band T shirts.
But guess what?
I (along with a ton of people I know) wear those things and we're not 'scene'.


So really, what I'm trying to say, is just because you dress a certain way or like something, it doesn't make you 'scene'. It's just a label people give. It's also like a 'trend' that nobody is going to care about in a few years.
Don't label yourself, please, it's not cool =/
Just dress however you feel comfortable, like what you like becasue you like it, and be yourself.

I rate high!

Me and my boyfriend had sex but I don't know if he has any std's or not. How do I ask him and how do I get checked for std's?

The best thing to do is just ask him. Honesty and being able to talk about anything are 2 of the best qualities you can have in a relationship.

To get tested, you can go to a Planned Parenthood clinic, or probably just ask your regular doctor.

So me and my best friend have been having problems ever since me and my b/f have been going out (6 1/2 months) she says i talk to him way to much and since i text him sometimes when were hangout it makes her feel betrayed or not good enough. even though we're never doing anything when i text him, even though its not that much. we both really want to stop fighting but its hard cuz we both are really stuborn and believe in what we say. she has another best friend that she doesnt fight with at all so im afriad shes gonna give up on me and just stay friends wiht her. do you think im doing much wrong? what do you think about the situation?

This is actually a good question to ask me, because I've gone through this before. I was in your friend's position, and I know where she's coming from. My best friend started going out with this guy, and we'd be hanging out, and she's text him, too.

I think she has a reason to feel a little left out if you're not spending time with her. She's feeling jealous, it's ok, it's a natural human emotion.


I think she has a reason to feel left out, but not 'betrayed' or something that severe. Maybe you shouldn't text your boyfriend when you're with her unless it's neccessary, or something like that? Or, go to the bathroom and text him, but don't do it while you're doing something with your friend. Get what I mean?


OR...
Try involving her, and making her feel as important as she seems to think your boyfriend is. Like, ask her, "What's something cute I can text to *boyfriend*?" Or, hang out with them both so you won't even HAVE to text your boyfriend! AND they'll both be spending time with you.

Just because you got your period doesn't mean you'll stop growing? Most girls stop growing (height wise) around 15 or 16. I know for me, I had a growth spirt the summer before freshman year. Most girls breats stop growing around the age of 17. So you've got a way to go, yet.

I hear that sodium is really bad for you but sometimes I hear people say that this food is really good for you because of the sodium. Is sodium good or bad? =/

Sodium isn't exactly, good for you, but it doesn't have to be bad, either. You need it for cardiac funtions, but too much of it can cause health problems rather than help with them.
So basically, it's ok to have in your diet, because it is needed, but don't go overboard with it =]

I want to get Sims 2, but when I was reading about different Sims games, I read about The Sims Stories which said it could be played on a laptop. I gathered this meant other Sims games couldn't be played on a laptop. Do you know if Sims 2 and it's extension packs can be used on a laptop?

It depends on the laptop. It works on newer ones.

The reason it won't work on older ones, is the graphics card. I had this problem, only with a desktop, and that's the main reason the Sims 2 doesn't work on various laptops and desktops.

So, if you have a laptop with Windows XP, or Vista, it whsould work. But if you're running like, Windows 98, I don't think it will work =/

Is the show Zoey 101 actually over? Because I know she's in England and everything now, but when they talk about her pregnancy on the news they mentioned that Jamie Lynn was going to continue shooting Zoey 101.

So are they just doing it with her in England instead? I'm kinda confused.

Last night was the end of the 3rd season. I believe, though, that they've shot/partially shot a 4th season which will air on Nick. I'm not sure when it airs or anything, but I'm pretty sure the shows not totally over. At least, not yet.

It's most likely just on a hiatus, seeing as Zoey can't just randomly be pregnant on the show.

Nobody can tell you if the 4th season is going to take place with her in England or anything, because we don't know. We're just going to have to wait for the new season to start.
