Can ecstacy kill you or hurt youu badly if you only take HALF A PILL? Please help fast!
There are actually very few deaths related to the chemicals in ecstacy. The deaths come in from either overheathing/dehydration and too much water. The chances of even a whole pill of ecstacy killing you are ver very slim.
Ecstacy can cause damage to your body in any amount, but damage is *usually* only over the long term.
A few possible side affects are allergic reaction (rare), which would result very soon after taking the pill, and dehydration which is much more common and can be prevented by drinking plenty of water or sports drink, but not too much.
Most ecstacy deaths are caused by hyperperyxia, where your body overheats. This is prevented by having a "buddy" where you regularly check one anothers temperature. If one person begins to overheat, you get them in a cool shower and let them drink some water. This can happen with just half a pill.
There is also risk of hyponatremia, which happens when you drink so much water that you dilute your blood stream, your brain swells, and you die. This can be prevented by monitoring your liquid intake, and drinking normal amounts of water at regular intervals. This can also happen with just half a pill.
There are many MANY long term affects that are not dependent on dose size. So you don't want to do it too many times.
That's about all that half a pill of ecstacy, one time, can do to you. Please read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecstasy_%28drug%29 for all the information you could ever need about ecstacy. It is the most unbiased source I could find.
Good luck.

Why do Americans who have some Irish ancestry in them feel the need to be all proud about it? Some of these people are 2nd or 3rd greneration Americans and have never even left the country.
I'm 1/4 Irish, and I do take pride in that I'm Irish. The only reason I haven't visited yet is because I haven't ever had the money to make the trip, though I hope to some day.
I'm not fanatical, I'm just proud. When you're red haired, green eyed, and pale, you get asked almost daily if you're Irish. So you either have to learn to be proud or just be annoyed.
The Irish (as many many other cultures) have much to be proud of. They have a rich, intersting, and beautiful history. Actually, I'm quite a bit offended at your drinking remark. I'm 20, and I've never taken a drink in life. No one on the Irish side of my family is an alcoholic, and most don't drink at all. So please don't generalize.
Other than that, it's good to be proud of one's heritage, that's what keeps it alive!! If no one is proud of there heritage, eventually the world will just be one big boring melting pot of mongrels who don't give a damn where they came from, and therefore lose their individuality.

I am currently attending the 3rd top private high school ($22,000 a year) in the country for the past 4 years (i'm in my freshman year, so this being my 5th..it also had a middle school + elementary school). But ever since I came here, all through the 4 years at this school, I have been miserable. Not because of the workload but because of the people. No one is friendly and it's EXTREMELY hard for me to make a few friends and its cliqie. I've tried to make more friends over & over again, but it hasn't worked. It's been like this for four years! Some people won't talk to me because of a rumor that I did something illegal and made a girl leave the school because of what I did, but it wasn't even true. They won't even believe me when I tell them it wasn't true. But the base line is that I have no friends at this school. So my problem is that my parents are having the HARDEST time deciding whether to take me out of my school or not because it's one of the best in the nation, gets ppl into ivy leagues, and yadda yadda. Also, my grades are affecting because of my loneliness at this school, I mean not that much, but still. So basically, I don't know what I should do. Move to a new school and sacrifice the benefits of the school I am currently going to, or stay here and be miserable for the rest of my high school years but most likely end up at a good college/university, or any other option that would work well. Thanks soo much, again!
If you really REALLY have your heart set on attending an ivy league school, then the best thing to do is try to stick it out and stay in the school you're at.
But please, if you are truly miserable, leave the school. I attended a prestigious private school, too (not in the top 10, though). When I started I excelled at everything, but I just couldn't make friends. Everyone was already in a clique, and no one wanted me. They had all been going to that school since they started there, and I didn't start until sixth grade. People talked about me behind my back, made fun of me to my face, and shunned me the rest of the time. I had an "emotional breakdown" at the beginning of 9th grade that was so bad I was taken out of school until the next year. I could have avoided it if I had just changed schools. I would hate to see the same thing happen to someone else.
If I were you, I would leave the school. Use the money that your parents are saving by taking you out the school to spend on all kinds of extraciricular activites. Load up on community service stuff, sports, music, hobbies, etc. These things are lots of fun and look great on college applications.
Go to a school where you are happy and you can keep your grades up. Practice as much as you can for the SAT's. If you do good on SAT's, have lots of community service, some extracirriculars, and excellent grades your chances of getting into ivy league are just as good as where you are now.
Remember that you should be happy in school, not miserable. You don't need that school to get into ivy league, and you don't need ivy league to get a great job. No matter what, apply to several colleges when the time comes, including ivy league. Remember to have fun!
Good luck!

Hi. This is kind of weird but yeah. I'm in 8th grade and I have been taking nyquil every single night for over a year. My mom doesnt know about it but like I dont know if that is bad or not. For some reason I feel like I cant sleep without it, but i dont know if thats just all in my head or what. Also i love the spray that numbs your throat, and i use that whenever i can but we normally dont have that around the house..so is that bad to take nyquil every night or is that okay?
Also i dont know if that is how you spell nyquil or not.. :)
and i wasn't sure which category this would fall in...
Generally, it's bad to take most medications every day. Some medications can actually cause problems, and you can build up a tolerance to others. This causes you to take more and more with less and less of an effect, eventually causing damage.
I believe that Vicks (who makes Nyquil) recommends discontinuing use after 7 days. You shouldn't take other drugs with acetaminophen while you're taking Nyquil, to avoid overdose. Some drugs that you can't take are Pamprin, Asprin, Benadryl, and Tylenol. Over time, it can damage your liver and kidneys, and anemia.
The antihistamines in Nyquil may cause bone marrow and nerve cell damage over time.
Nyquil actually does help you sleep. It is because the main ingredient in Nyquil is alcohol. The feeling that you can't sleep without it is partly in your head, and partly physical. You will be able to sleep without it again, but since your body will have developed such a dependence, it will take some time to get used to falling asleep on your own again.
If you really need something to help you sleep, Tylenol puts out something that ONLY helps you sleep, without pain killers. It'd called Simply Sleep, and you can find it almost anywhere that you can find Tylenol. If you want to quit Nyquil, this is the way to go. Switch from Nyquil to Simply Sleep (you can't form a physical dependency to this like you can to Nyquil), and then take your time getting off simply sleep.
Here are some resources for sleeping better:

hi i thought i you could help me in a little problem im having...
ok well i like this guy n i told my best friend and now she is trying to talk to him for herself instead of helping me out...its been about a week now n he is totally ditching her and she is mad that i still talk to him n like him..wut i want to know is if i was to go out with him does she havet he right to be mad at me or not i dont think so since i liked him first but i dont thinkk she will feel the same!!
I think that right now, since neither of you is dating him, he is fair game. However, since you told your friend that you liked him BEFORE she started trying to get him for herself, then she is sort of betraying your friendship. If she's not helping you get him, she should be leaving him alone, since you asked him first.
Since he's ditching her, it probably means that he doesn't like her. That doesn't meant that you shouldn't talk to him though. If he was really, really mean to her, you might not want to talk to him anymore, but if he is just blowing her off, then I don't think it should be a problem.
I don't think that she has a right to be mad at you if you go out with him. However, she probably will be mad at you anyway. I think it's like this: when you said you liked him, she started to realize that he was pretty cool, he wants nothing to do with her and now she's steamed, and if she can't have him, she doesn't want anyone to have him.
So, if you don't mind her being mad at you, go for it. I agree with you that she doesn't really have a right to be mad, but that probably won't stop her.

My name is Alexa and i am 15 years old. Ever sense i can remember i have gotten these sharp shooting pains in my lower legs and ankels. The only thing that helps is motrin, tylenol, advill, ect. i get them about once a week or sometimes more. I dont know what causes it, and docters dont know either.i get it mostly when i have been on my feet a lot that day, but sometimes thats not the case. all i know it is very painful and it wakes me up for hours at night every once and a while.Im scared that taking to much medicen will hurt me in the long run. Does anybody else have this problem or know what it is. Will i outgrow this???
You're right to have seen a doctor for it. It sounds like a Charley horse to me. Since that's the only thing that I think it could be, I'll tell you about that. You can get them in your thighs, calves, and arches of your feet, but their most common in your calf. Their are a few things that you can do to prevent them.
Increase your potassium intake. Some foods that contain potassium are bananas, celery, turnips, and some cereals. I know that a lot of other foods contain potassium, too, so just check nutritional contents on packages. Also, stretch during the day, especially if you work your legs a lot. At some point during the day, spend 15 minutes on stretches that work different parts of your legs, focusing especially on ham string, calf, and arch stretches. I found this website (http://www.totalbodywellness.com/hip.html) with a few good stretches. You might also want to get into yoga. This is Yoga Journal's online pose finder (http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/index.cfm?ctsrc=welcome) which will help you find the positions that you need to work your legs. Once again, look under calf, hamstring, and foot.
Once you get one, stretch it out. If you're laying in bed, flip onto your back. Bring your toes toward your head until the most severe of the pain stops. You'll be a little sore afterwards, but the pain is dull and weak instead of stabbing and strong.
If this is not what the problem is, the only thing that I can think of is loose ligaments. Pain from loose ligaments, however, is generally focused just in a joint. The only thing to do for this condition is exercise and take medicine. For only the most extreme of cases, doctors will sometimes prescribe braces for the infected joint. However, I don't think that this is your problem.
I hope I helped!

So some new neighbors just moved in a couple months ago. I am almost positive that he beats his wife. They have two young daughters. I have no actual evidence.
Is there anyone I could anonymously call to look into it?
The best I can tell you is to call your local police (not 911) and tell them what is going on. Ask if there if there is anything they can do and if not, ask if there is anyone that you can call that might be able to help. I don't think that there is, but if anyone would know, it would be your local police.

Hi guys!
I've been trying all day to find some really nice tribal heart tattoos on here, because on Tuesday me and my sister are going to get tattoos on our lower backs. My sister wants a tribal heart one, and I already have a butterfly one picked out. I was hoping someone could help me and find some really pretty tribal heart tattoos. I've been looking at so many tattoo sites already, and they pretty much suck. I've searched on Google already too. If anyone has any pictures or really really good sites, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. Thank you so much! :-)

This is the Body Mod Ezine's tattoo gallery. There are two categories on the page that you might want to look under: "Tribal Tattoos" and "Hearts and Love Tattoos."
That's where I always go.

i heard about people called card counters and how its an actual job where people go to casinos and count cards? i dont get what they do. count cards for what? and how do they count them?
Hey, card counters count the cards by keeping track of which cards have been played from a deck. They only get to see the cards that are laid face up on the table. By keeping track of those in their heads, they can sort of figure what kind of odds their hand has.
For example, a card counter might see two Ace's in his hand, and hope to draw the other two. But if he kept track (by remembering that a player had laid down a pair of Ace's before), he wouldn't bet too high because he knew that he couldn't get the four Ace's that he wanted.
It's more complex than that, but that's the basic idea.

i pierced my bellybutton myself a couple of times before and i took it out ..now there is a little lump .. could i get my belly button pierced still or i cant? what should i do
The bump is probably just scar tissue. If that's true, then you can still get it pierced again, but the artist will pierce to one side or the other of the scar tissue. When my tongue healed up and I had it redone, he said he wouldn't repierce through the scar tissue, so he would pierce a bit off of where he would normally pierce.
I hope that helped.

I've been getting constant nose bleeds for a week now. I've gotten them three times, and it's not just small ones either. They last for around 10 minutes, and I'm afraid I'm going to get anaemic. I can't see my doctor for another few days, but is there anything I can do until them to prevent them? What are the main causes?
16/f if it helps. Thanks very much.
Here's what I found. Some of the causes of nosebleeds are trauma to the nose, altitude, anticoagulent medicine (such as asprin), dry air, nasal allergies, and high blood pressure.
I don't really know how to prevent them. Make sure you're not taking any asprin or perscription anticoagulants, keep the air around you moist by running a humidifier, and if you are prone to allergies try taking some ant-allergy medication.
Other than that the best thing to do is to stop them as quickly as you can. Apply pressure to the beidge of the nose, and tilt your head either forward (to drain the blood out) or backward (to keep the blood away from the nose) once again, whichever makes you the most comfortable.
If it that doesn't work, try coating the very inside of your nose with petroleum jelly (to keep the membrane moist).
You should be fine until you get to see your doctor.
Good luck!

Does anyone know if any studies have been done regarding the harmful side-effects of tattoos?
If so, a quick summary of the results would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Saint_gasoline
I searched Google for your information. I think it would be more benficial to you to read it yourself instead of me summarizing it, since I don't know what, specifically, you are looking for.
This is exactly what I did. Go to Google and type in tatoo ink side effects. I found more things than I can list here, so it's probably best if you do it youself.
For example, I found http://www.news-medical.net/?id=8377. That is a study done by chemistry students at Northern Arizona University titled "Health Problems with the Unknown Compositions of Tattoo Inks."
If you need more after that, try searching tattoo ink dangers.
I'm sorry, I would summarize for you, but I found more information and websites with these search terms than I can list here. So try Google like I said and you will find more than you need.
Hope that helped!

what is nshss? i got this email saying i was nominated for it or something...is it worth joining? i don't really get what it is so if anyone who is in it could tell me that would be helpful
NSHSS - The National Society of High School Scholars. Their website is www.hshss.org.
They "nominate" high school students with promises of prestige and things like that. This organization requires a $45 membership fee. There are things that will help you in school, college, and work far more that are completely free.
You can apply for awards and scholarships through this program, but there are even more that you can find for free. It seems to me to be a "legal scam." A sort of list that is supposed to give you noteriety.
I wouldn't join. I think that it's a waste of money. A good rule of thumb in school is to never pay for something that you can do yourself. I need to add that this is NOT the National Honor Society (www.nhs.us) which is legitimate.

so,i want to get my cartilage pierced, but my friend says that the gun goes so fast it shatters your cartilage( if you get it done professionally )
so i was wondering, is that true?
No, it shouldn't damage anything. However, if you are really worried about it, go to a tattoo parlor and get it done with a needle. As long as the parlor is clean, the risk of infection is far lesser than getting it done with a gun at the mall. Also, the piercing artist has been doing his thing for years, where the mall turns over employees far more often. At most tattoo parlors you would have to get it pierced with at least a 16 gauge, though.
However, both ways are safe and harmless! So have fun!

okay well my friend is kindof a eater i mean when were at lunch she eats alot plus everyone elses food i dont want to tell her she should stop eating cause shes fat but like how do i tell her cause shes my friend and i dont want her to regret it when she gets older for being a lil big and ya know i dont want to hurt her feelings
It is very kind of you to worry about your friend like this. But let me give you advice from someone who was really fat all through school.
Don't say anything to her. Odds are, she knows. Unless she is in serious denial (which is possible, but very rare), she is very aware of the fact that she is fat, and she is probably bothered by it, too. She probably hears it from other girls talking behind her back, and from random strangers making comments. I always did. The last thing she wants is to hear it from her friend.
Let her bring it up. She might, and she might never. If she does, be supportive and ready to help her (it sounds like you already are). Volunteer to maybe make up a secret signal for when she starts to eat too much so that you can remind her to stop eating without every else at the table noticing.
If you are really into helped her, here is one thing that you might be able to do without hurting her feelings. Tell her you're concerned about your OWN appearance, and that you really need a exercise partner. Ask her if she'd like to start walking (in the park, around the neighborhood) several times a week with you. This may open up communication about body image so that you can talk directly about how much she eats.
Let me know if I can be of anymore help!

My friend told me her doctor said it is possible to get your period while your pregnant once or twice. I would guess she means in the earlier stages of pregnancy, but im wondering if thats true. Also, lets say you had unprotected sex and then 3 days later got your period which lasted for about 2 and a half days, is it possible that you are pregnant or is it certain you are not?
I don't know about your having your period while you are pregnant (see younggrandma's answer below for that), but there is a thing called "implantation bleeding." When the fertilized egg implants itself into the lining of the uterus it causes some women to bleed, almost as if they were having their period.
Implantation bleeding generally happens several days after sex, and is shorter than a period. It is often accompanied by light cramps. Implantation bleeding can also be distinguished from a period because it is scanty, spotty, pinkish and not red and heavy like a period, and does not follow the normal pattern of your period.
If you are having anything like this, then there is a chance that you are pregnant. I would recommed a pregnancy test to be sure.
I hope that helped.

Okay here is the story. I have a job but I can only work a couple of hours because of my age. I need some money and I need it fast I don't want to sell my body or drugs, neone know what I can do?
If you really need money, start selling everything that you own on eBay. Let your neighbors know that you are available for errands, help, etc. Volunteer to mow lawns, vacuum carpets, walk dogs, run for groceries...
Always volunteer to cover for people at work. Most workplaces won't enforce the hours limit unless you are very very young. I worked 40-60 hours a week as a "part time" employee at AMC Theatres when I was 15 by doing that. Just tell them that you are always available (unless you're in school) and you will come in whenever they need you. It's worth a try, at least.

I'm saving up to buy an electric guitar but I want a really good one. I have about 200$ now, but I want to have more money. Problem is, I can't do chores, we have a maid, I can't wash the car, we have a driver. I can't do the garden and pool, we have a pool boy and a gardener. (By the way, i'm not showing off, I live in a place where staff is cheap and it's needed to have them.) So yeah, is there any way that I can get money?? I'm 13 and I get 5$ every week for allowance.. I am desperate to find some money.
Could you ask around your school and see if they have a job for you? If there isn't work for you around your school, they might be able to help you find somewhere to make a little bit of money.
What's the legal working age where you are? Here, you can do things like bag at grocery stores if you are at least 15. Maybe ask your parents if there is a job like that for you around town.
Otherwise, just ask your parents if there is something that you can do for them to earn a little bit of extra money. Maybe you could do the cooking, or help with the shopping, or something like that for a few extra dollars a week.
