Hello! I am studying esthetics at an Aveda Institute after spending years in retail. I am proof that nothing turns out how you think it will, and that's a good thing. When you think you've got it figured out, you don't. Life would be boring otherwise, right?

ok well my friend max is an athiest. he doesnt belive in any kind of god. hes like a science nerd so that probably has something to do with it. well i really want him to belive in God but i dont know how i can talk to him about it. we arent close enough to talk about that stuff. what should i do?

I am an atheist and if one of my friends tried to convert me I would be extremely offended and probably not talk to them anymore. It's like me trying to tell you not to believe in God. If he's happy, then it's his business.

If you're worried about him not getting into heaven...(I'm saying this hypothetically because I'm an atheist) If God exists, why does he need people to believe in him? You exist. Do you need people to believe you exist? If your friend is a good person and God really does love everyone then he's getting into heaven.

And regarding the suggestion below me...inviting him to church is risky and he will say no, possibly be offended. Buying him a bible for christmas is unacceptable. Would you like it if someone bought you the Koran or The Satanist Bible (yes it's a real book) for Christmas?

An orthodontist inspection to make sure that it will work for you, and you have to be at least 16, but in most cases 18.

Forever 21 has some really cheap, cute shirts. When I was at Wet Seal last week they had a bunch of racks of Buy One Get One Free. Kohl's always has really good prices. And Macy's has really good 50% off clearance racks.

Hey everyone! Well, I've never heard of limewire until the other day from a friend. So, I started to use it but my parents are concerened that it is illegal. is it leagal? cause some people at school say it is leagal and others say it is illegal. i need to know! wut happenes if you use it and it is illegal??thanks!!

Downloading free songs on limewire is illegal, I really don't recommend it. Limewire has a lot of spyware and it messed up 3 of my family's computers with viruses and spyware. If you're going to use it, at least get some spyware removal programs like AdAware and SpyBot.

Oh my god. Honey, you need to see a doctor right away. You look like someone in a concentration camp! It's extremely unhealthy and if you don't get help right away, you actually could die, not to mention that it would screw up your body forever- you might not ever be able to have kids.

if you had to choose between the Ipod Video, a nice digital camera, and a PSP, which 2 would you choose and why, could you give me some reasons?

Ipod video and digital camera. PSPs have really low battery life (you have to charge it a lot), extremely breakable, and the games/movies for it are about $50 each. Not to mention that they're stolen a LOT. Ipod video will play music, store photos, and play videos/tv shows/music videos- really useful, especially on boring car/airplane rides. A nice digital camera is always useful- I'd recommend a small one (I have a sony cybershot and love it) so you can take it to school or wherever without worrying about it.
Also, PSPs do go on the internet but only with certain wireless connections, and it takes a very long time.

I had all of my money stolen from me and now I'm broke for X-mas. I'm going to manage to save up some money but not enough to buy my friends the wonderful presents I wanted to get them! I need some cheap/creative ideas for presents but I have no idea what anything is and I'm so stressed out the whole process is just giving me a headache! So could anyone please help with some cheap and/or creative ideas (that dont make it LOOK like I'm cheaping out, I mean they're gonna understand that I cant afford much but I still dont want to seem lame)?

- Bake stuff. (If you need recipes drop one in my inbox).
- Go to the dollar store. They have makeup bags, makeup, lotion, candy...tons of stuff.
- Go to Walmart. You can get lots of candy for a dollar. Also try their scented stuff, it's pretty cheap. One other thing they have is candy-flavored lip balms for a dollar each.
- This takes a while, but one time I made necklaces out of paper. Tear pages out of magazines, cut them into long triangles, and then roll them up (starting with the wide end) tightly, secure it with a dab of glue. Once you have enough, use a needle and thread to string it. This can make a really cool long necklace, double-strand choker, or bracelet. (For shorter ones, buy some clasps at a craft store.) I know it sounds hokey, but they actually look really cool!
- Make a collage out of pictures.
- Go to the dollar section at target- right now they have these really nice lotions, body butters, scrubs, etc. in holiday scents- sugar cookie, apple cider, cranberry, and holiday mint.

I have a large underskin pimple, I think they're called Cystic pimples? Well its right next to the end of my eyebrow and when I woke up my whole eye was swollen shut from it. It hurts very badly, its quite red, and its a large bump. How can I get rid of it asap? Thanks!

Take some advil and dab hydrogen peroxide on it...I know, sounds hokey, but it works. Fill a small cup partway with it, and while at your house, carry around the cup and qtips. Just keep dabbing it on (about every 5 minutes if possible) and it should go away.

is it true that using crest white strips to highlight parts of your hair really works?
...and does it damage it?

Very very very bad idea! Peroxide turns your hair white, and makes it brittle so it will actually break off. Highlighting kits are cheaper, anyway.

how do you treat the dog in this situation?

Be very gentle with it, it will take a long time before this dog isn't timid. Also, one thing that a lot of people don't know about...Abused animals associate certain physical characteristics with abuse. For instance, my neighbor's dog used to freak out when she saw men in hats. This is definetly something you want to ask about and be aware of.
As for scolding, just say no, not in a very angry tone, just a calm tone. The dog may flinch at first but it will realize after a while that it's not going to get hit.
One other thing: don't let it get away with stuff because it was abused. Yes, it's sad, but many dogs have "gotten over" abusive situations from being treated like a normal dog. Obviously no playing rough but other than that, no special treatment.

I have a best friend and we live sort of far away. we used to go to the same school and i never had any attraction to him. i moved away this year, but still visit very offten. He was changed alot but in all the right places. we are very good friends and i am now physicaly attracted to him. He has a new girlfriend but he cheats on her all the time with me. i dont know what he would do if he knew that i really like him. I scared it would ruin our friendship and thats something i dont want to lose. what should i do?

You can't trust someone who cheats, because chancesa are that once he's going out with you, he'll cheat on you. Cheaters don't stop. I know it's hard, but you need to either cut off the relationship or tell him (maybe email?) that you just want to be friends. Maybe that will make him realize he really likes you, but if not, you're not missing anything. And as cheesy as it sounds, you can't trust this guy, so after you tell him, meet him in a public place (the mall NOT the movies) the first few times. That way if he tries anything you can get him in trouble.

I'm not saying don't be friends with him...just be careful.

Every year since the seventh grade I have had one very large problem - School. Now, hey, everyone has a problem with school, but to delve deeper into the subject of school I realize my problem is not directly going there, it's just doing the work.

Throughout my life I have been lazy, I've tried to overcome it and at some points I do, however when I try and do school work I put it off until the last moment.

Studying for a test means 10 minutes of staring at the review and then I say "Okay, I'm done" and move on. Sometimes I do think I'm good to go, but I'm not.

The problem is I don't do my homework sometimes, if I do it, I make sure it is done in a quick and timely manner -meaning it sucks-

This year, my Junior year, is the first time I have ever failed on a report card, even worse, I failed twice.

I realize I have this problem, each year I cut it very close in some of my classes. I'm usually under great stress (though it usually isn't apparent, even to me. Only at certain times does it even really 'get' to me) and when under great stress I can usually pull my grades up. However, without that jumpstart, I don't do the work required.

I realize this, but for some reason I can't become disciplined enough to overcome this terrible problem.

The end of the marking period is once again coming to an end this week, and I'm once again, like usual, I'm cutting it close.

I worry that I will fail, however, I'm not asking "how do I pass my classes with 1 week left?"

I'm asking a broader question which is How do I overcome this problem of putting things off so much?

I fear I've hit rock bottom over the past two years due to the fact that I'm so used to missing turning in an asignment ( Which I usually try to turn them in) that when I dont' have it done I generally just say 'oh well, it's whatever' and blow it off. I've learned to cope with this lazy me, which is also making it much harder to overcome my problem.

Another thing is I have been tested for a.d.d. and I infact do have it. However, I refuse to take my medicine for it. I try to overcome this disability myself (which is also sometimes a problem because I miss out on certain assignments and homework due dates)

Could this pure lazyness I'm experiencing be an effect from my add? I don't think so, but it doesn't help in certain areas.

Are there any techniques I could set up and apply to my daily schedule to improve my work habits?

I used to be the same way.

First of all, you will be overcoming your disability yourself by taking responsibility and taking your medicine. To put it bluntly, your doctor has a medical degree and knows more than you do about medicine. It's pretty much impossible to heal yourself from ADD.

Secondly, put yourself in a room with no distractions at all. Even the bathroom if you have to. Do not say, "I'll start my homework at 4:00". Say, "I'll start my homework NOW." Get done as much as you can ahead of time, and take 10 minute breaks- use a timer to make sure. Maybe make Monday your major work day, get done any assignments you know will be due later in the week. For projects, etc. make a timeline. Monday, research, Tuesday, rough draft, and so on. If you don't have an assignment book, buy a small notebook or planner to keep track of your assignments. Write them down the moment they're assigned! A dated planner will help- write it down on the due date also.

As cheesy as it sounds, you'd be surprised how good it feels to have completed all of your homework ahead of time. It means you can do whatever you want instead of staying up late the night before an essay is due.
